A novel dual-band and diverse radiation pattern antenna is proposed for power efficient on-body and off-body communications intended for various applications in healthcare and sport monitoring. The antenna is dual band at 2.45 GHz (ISM band) with omnidirectional radiation pattern over the body surface to communicate power efficiently with other co-located body worn devices and at 1.9 GHz (PCS band), it has directive radiation pattern towards off the body to communicate from on-body device to off-body devices. The free space and on-body performances of the antenna are investigated by both simulation and experiment. The antenna shows very good on-body radiation efficiency of 58% at 2.45 GHz and 61% at 1.9 GHz. Good on-body gain is noticed at both frequency bands. Results show that the gain of the proposed antenna increases by 4.7% at 2.45 GHz and 3.2% at 1.9 GHz when placed on the body. 展开更多

In this paper, on-body radio channel performance of a compact ultra wideband (UWB) antenna is investigated for body-centric wireless communications. Measurement campaigns were first done in the chamber and then repeated in an indoor environment for comparison. The path loss parameter for eight different on-body radio channels has been characterized and analyzed. In addition, the path loss was modeled as a function of distance for 34 different receiver locations for propagation along the front part of the body. Results and analysis show that, compared with anechoic chamber, a reduction of 16.34% path loss exponent is noticed in indoor environment. The antenna shows very good on-body radio channel performance and will be a suitable candidate for future efficient and reliable body-centric wireless communications. 展开更多

In microalgae based biofuel technology, the light is one of the important factors for the proper growth of microalgae cells as microalgae is a photosynthetic microorganism. For a large scale outdoor culture the irradiance of sunlight and associated temperature is also need to consider. In this study aims to present computational model of microalgae growth taking effect of solar irradiance and corresponding temperature in a tubular photo bioreactor for an outdoor culture system. We consider the transient behavior of temperature inside the photo bioreactor for a microalgae culture. The optimum range of temperature for outdoor cultivation of microalgae is about 22℃ - 27℃ and out of this range the microalgae cell growth inhibits. Many correlations have already been established to investigate the algal productivity based on the dynamic conditions of temperature in case of full scale outdoor cultivation. However, none of them are validated yet numerically considering the model as a function of weather conditions, operational behavior and design criteria. A tubular photobioreactor (PBR) with length 20.5 m and radius 0.05 m has taken account as a simulation model. The PBR is horizontally placed as temperature variations can be observed with greater accuracy. As the solar irradiance varies at any geographic latitude for a year and so thus temperature, equations and parameters are established relating the irradiance with the temperature to simulate the effect. We observed some significant effects of temperature on the growth of microalgae. Moreover, for the maximum growth of the cells we should control the surrounding temperature. 展开更多

Broadband over Power Line (BPL) is an alternative means of providing high-speed Internet access, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), and other broadband services to homes and businesses by using the existing medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) power lines. This paper provides a comprehensive understanding about BPL with its implementation prospects. In this context, the existing power grid infrastructures are discussed elaborately. BPL system functionality with its components and its benefits over other access technologies is also pointed out. Implementation scenarios for various deployment options are illustrated here. The different implementation challenges for BPL system, such as the characteristics of power lines, attenuation problem, noise, potential interference with the other radio frequencies are also presented with their remedies. Comparative analysis between several broadband access technologies shows the feasibility of BPL deployments all over the world. 展开更多

The Lady of Shalott is considered to be one of Alfred Lord Tennyson’s masterpieces. The poem conversely demonstrates art and life, the aesthetic and the political, are fully interwoven:the involvement in the social world which is symbolically the destination of the Lady in the poem. The Lady who is the emblem of such an artwork can be ascribed qualities, for instance,self-containment,objectified otherness, removal from the fluidity of life, and participation in a higher order of existence, for which it is autonomy.Kermode points out that“the Romantic artwork often identifies itself with an emblematic image of autonomy and femininity”,inextricably interlinked. Her mirror shows her only“Shadows of the world”.The Lady’s web flies“Out”and floats“wide”when she“turns round”with“that desire of making an impression upon another mind”,when she seeks to address Lancelot. The mirror reconnects the Lady’s art to the real world beyond her window.Though the artist is unable to see it during the process of production, her artistic web, once out in a wider space than the tower and freed from the loom,is a true representation of outward things, the actions, and events of Camelot. This paper examines that the traditional referentiality of Tennyson’s‘The Lady of Shalott’can be better understood by supplementing the poet’s medieval sources,of little more than tangential relevance to the poem, with Homeric influences. The poem is similar to a fairytale, however,I have given an alternate reality of the Lady of Shallot in my version of a fairytale, where the characters remain the same but the fairytale takes a happy ending rather than a tragic death. My version is different from Tennyson’s since I believe the lady deserves to be jovial.Sir Lancelot was unaware of her fascination and feelings for him,as she could hardly express her feelings due to her imprisonment. She is so taken by him that she stops her work and looks at Camelot, though she risks the mysterious curse. The mirror breaks and her web magically floats out of the window on its own.She realizes that she is cursed. 展开更多

A method and apparatus for monitoring heart rate of the heart using a wearable system is designed and implemented in this paper. A heart rate receives from heart beat signals and stores the data to a database and after a time period this method can determine an idle heart rate of the monitoring body. This idle heart rate is compared with the stored data and can determine the normal and abnormal heart rate variability. After the certain time period this system can detect the heart rate and also can send a signal to the user in time of abnormalities. Consequent estimations of heart rate variability are contrasted with this. 展开更多

The study explores Feminism by focusing broadly on its history and further examining using Marxism and critical discourses by other feminists.Feminism refers to the idea that women and men ought to have equal rights. In 1734,the Swedish Civil Code gave women more rights, most notably prohibiting husbands from selling their wives’possessions without their approval. In her 1790 essay“On the equality of the sexes,”American women’s rights campaigner Judith Sargent Murray claimed that women are just as bright as men.British author Mary Wollstonecraft responded to philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau and other 18th-century Enlightenment intellectuals who did not extend their concepts of freedom to women in her 1792 book A Vindication of the Rights of Women. She challenges the idea that women are less logical than males and opposes the injustice.“Who made man the exclusive judge?”she demands. However,Frenchman Charles Fourier coined the term“feminisme”in 1837,marking the beginning of the concept of feminism. The Victorian Social Convention exalted and imposed the domestic roles of wife and mother on most married middle-class women in 19th-century Britain.Career aspirations were restricted because they were not allowed to receive an education on par with that of males. In The Communist Manifesto,German philosophers and revolutionary political theorists Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels contend that a bourgeois man regards his wife as nothing more than an apparatus of production.According to Engles, the family is at the core of the violence and oppression that women experience.Marxist feminists saw capitalism and patriarchy as the two fundamental systems that supported the subjugation of women. The British writer and social theorist Harriet Taylor Mill underlined that a lady who could support the family financially and had a good education would be respected by her husband and treated as a partner. However, men utilize rape as a means of controlling women,as seen by the social inequities that still affect women today. It’s shocking to learn that rape was a taboo topic until 1975 when Susan Brownmiller authored Against Our Will:Men,Women, and Rape. There was a notion that said women’s sexuality encourages rape, hence the guilt was frequently placed on the female victims.Nonetheless, postcolonial feminists such as Chandra Talpade Mohanty contend that regardless of their status as powerful or marginal, wealthy or not, women residing in non-Western nations are presumed to be impoverished, uninformed, uneducated, sexually restricted,tradition-bound,and victims.FGM(female genital cutting)has been a custom for at least 2,500 years, still practiced in thirty countries, mostly in Africa,Indonesia, and the Middle East.It is not connected to chastity and purity, guaranteeing that women remain virgins until marriage and remain faithful afterward. In this essay,Finally,I have looked at how women have faced discrimination in a variety of settings, including the home and the workplace, for millennia due to their gender. 展开更多
