Predicting prolonged postoperative ileus in gastric cancer patients based on bowel sounds using intelligent auscultation and machine learning

BACKGROUND Prolonged postoperative ileus(PPOI)delays the postoperative recovery of gastrointestinal function in patients with gastric cancer(GC),leading to longer hospitalization and higher healthcare expenditure.However,effective monitoring of gastrointestinal recovery in patients with GC remains challenging because of AIM To explore the risk factors for delayed postoperative bowel function recovery and evaluate bowel sound indicators collected via an intelligent auscultation system to guide clinical practice.METHODS This study included data from 120 patients diagnosed with GC who had undergone surgical treatment and postoperative bowel sound monitoring in the Department of General Surgery II at Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital between January 2019 and January 2021.Among them,PPOI was reported in 33 cases.The patients were randomly divided into the training and validation cohorts.Significant variables from the training cohort were identified using univariate and multivariable analyses and were included in the model.RESULTS The analysis identified six potential variables associated with PPOI among the included participants.The incidence rate of PPOI was 27.5%.Age≥70 years,cTNM stage(Ⅰ and Ⅳ),preoperative hypoproteinemia,recovery time of bowel sounds(RTBS),number of bowel sounds(NBS),and frequency of bowel sounds(FBS)were independent risk factors for PPOI.The Bayesian model demonstrated good performance with internal validation:Training cohort[area under the curve(AUC)=0.880,accuracy=0.823,Brier score=0.139]and validation cohort(AUC=0.747,accuracy=0.690,Brier score=0.215).The model showed a good fit and calibration in the decision curve analysis,indicating a significant net benefit.CONCLUSION PPOI is a common complication following gastrectomy in patients with GC and is associated with age,cTNM stage,preoperative hypoproteinemia,and specific bowel sound-related indices(RTBS,NBS,and FBS).To facilitate early intervention and improve patient outcomes,clinicians should consider these factors,optimize preoperative nutritional status,and implement routine postoperative bowel sound monitoring.This study introduces an accessible machine learning model for predicting PPOI in patients with GC. 展开更多

Halide perovskites with excellent piezoelectric properties,but their poor stability hinders their largescale application.Herein,a sandwich-structured halide perovskite flexible sensor with good stability was developed according to a three-step procedure as follows:(ⅰ) in-situ growth of wool keratinCsPbBr_(3)(WK-CsPbBr_(3)) using wool keratin in interfacial passivation and coating,(ⅱ) electrospinning of a wool keratin-CsPbBr_(3)/polyacrylonitrile(WCP) nanofiber film,and(ⅲ) coating of the WCP nanofiber with polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS) to obtain a sensor(WCPP).The sensor could generate a piezoelectric voltage of 7.8 V at a pressure of 6 kPa in the stages of pressing and releasing,and the output characteristics did not decline even after 10,000 cycles.Compared to the 4-month stability of the perovskite sensor,WCPP sensor exhibited the output performance even after 16 months,which indicated that wool keratin as a multidentate improved the stability of the halide perovskite.Additionally,the sensor displayed a self-cleaning property and could also light up 14 commercial LEDs.The close-loop recycling of the lead halide perovskite was achieved by dissolving the WCP nanofiber film in DMF and then reelectrospinning.Therefore,the method proposed is a step forward for achieving the commercialization of WK-CsPbBr_(3) and providing new avenues for further utilization of wool waste. 展开更多

Commensurate and incommensurate Haldane phases for a spin-1 bilinear-biquadratic model are investigated using an infinite matrix product state algorithm.The bipartite entanglement entropy can detect a transition point between the two phases.In both phases,the entanglement spectrum shows double degeneracy.We calculate the nonlocal order parameter of the bond-centered inversion in both phases,which rapidly approaches a saturation value of-1 as the segment length increases.The nonlocal order parameter of the bond-centered inversion with a saturation value-1 and the nonzero value string order indicate that the Haldane phase is a symmetry-protected topological phase.To distinguish the commensurate and incommensurate Haldane phases,the transversal spin correlation and corresponding momentum distribution of the structure factor are analyzed.As a result,the transversal spin correlations exhibit different decay forms in both phases. 展开更多

Power consumption is the energy source of the impact on fibers or pulp during low-consistency(LC)pulp refining,and the strength of refining affects refining quality and efficiency.The pulp properties,operating parameters,and bar parameters of the refiner plates are important parameters affecting refining efficiency,which can be defined as the ratio of net to total refining power.In this study,LC refining trials for pulps with different consistencies and fiber lengths were conducted using five isometric straightbar plates with different bar angles to explore the influences of the plate bar angle and pulp properties on the no-load power,impact capacity on fibers and refining efficiency.It was found that the no-load power of the LC refining process decreased with an increase in the plate bar angle while increased when pulp with higher consistency was refined under the same refining conditions.However,the effect of pulp consistency on the no-load power can be neglected when refining is conducted using plates with larger bar angles.Meanwhile,a critical bar angle for straight-bar plates in LC refining may exist,which has the strongest impact on the pulp and highest refining efficiency under the same refining conditions.In addition,the impact capacity of the plate on the pulp and refining efficiency in LC refining can be enhanced by appropriately increasing the pulp consistency and average fiber length when the bar angle of the refiner plate with a sector angle of 40°is less than 30°.Therefore,the efficiency and power consumption of the LC refining process can be adjusted by optimizing the pulp consistency and bar parameters of the refining plates. 展开更多

Polyaniline /Polyester( PANI /PET) composite conductive fabric is prepared through in-situ polymerization process using aniline as monomer and PET fabric as matrix,which is treated with alkali deweighting and low temperature plasma. The property of PANI /PET composite conductive fabric is studied and characterized,including scanning electron microscope( SEM), infrared spectroscopy, conductivity, wash fastness and mechanical properties. The results show that the optimal polymerization conditions: the molar ratio of ammonium persulfate and aniline is1∶ 1,the concentration of sulfuric acid is 1 mol /L and reaction time is 90 min. Under optimum conditions,the surface resistivity of PANI /PET composite conductive fabric is about 170 Ω. After washed 5 times, the surface resistivity of PANI /PET composite conductive fabric is stable at 1 450 Ω. The breaking strength and breaking elongation of PANI /PET composite conductive fabric decrease compared with PET fabric. 展开更多

Soil moisture is a critical state affecting a variety of land surface and subsurface processes. We report investigation results of the factors controlling vertical variation of soil moisture and sand transport rate of three types of dunes on the south- eastern margin of the Mu Us Sandy Land. Samples were taken from holes drilled to a depth of 4 m at different topographic sites on the dunes, and were analyzed for soil moisture, grain-size distribution and surface sediment discharge. The results show that: (1) The average soil moisture varies in different types of dunes, with the following sequences ordered from highest to lowest: in the shrubs-covered dunes and the trees-covered dunes the sequence is from inter-dunes lowland to windward slope to leeward slope. The average moisture in the bare-migratory sand dunes is sequenced from inter-dunes lowland to leeward slope to windward slope. (2) Vegetation form and surface coverage affect the range of soil moisture of different types of dunes in the same topographic position. The coefficient of variation of soil moisture for shrubs-covered dunes is higher than that of other types of dune. (3) The effect of shrubs on dune soil moisture is explained in terms of the greater ability of shrubs to trap fine-grained atmospheric dust and hold moisture. (4) The estimated sand transport rates over sand dunes with sparse shrubs are less than those over bare-migratory dunes or sand dunes with sparse trees, indicating that shrubs are more effective in inhibiting wind erosion in the sandy land area. 展开更多

With the help of broadband dielectric spectroscopy in a wide temperature and frequency range, the conductivity spectra of ZnO polycrystalline ceramics are measured and the direct-current-like (DC-like) conductivity and relaxation polarization conductivity are observed successively along the frequency axis. According to the classical Debye theory and Cole-Cole equation, the physical meanings of the two conductivities are discussed. It is found that the DC-like conductivity corresponds to electron transportation over the Schottky barrier at the grainboundary. The relaxation polarization conductivity corresponds to electronic trap relaxation of intrinsic point defects (zinc interstitial and oxygen vacancy). When in the high frequency region, the relaxation conductivity obeys the universal law with the index n equal to the index a in the Cole-Cole equation as an indictor of disorder degree. 展开更多

Antiferroelectric ferroelectric (AFE-FE) phase transition in ceramic Pbo.97Lao.02(Zro.75Snon36Tion14)O3 (PLZST) was studied by dielectric spectroscopy as functions of frequency (102-105 Hz) and pressure (0-500 MPa) under a DC electric field. The hydrostatic pressure-dependent remnant polarization and dielectric constant were mea- sured. The results show that remnant polarization of the metastable rhombohedral ferroelectric PLZST poled ceramic decreases sharply and depoles completely at phase transition under hydrostatic pressure. The dielectric constant um dergoes an abrupt jump twice during a load and unload cycle under an electric field. The two abrupt jumps correspond to two phase transitions, FE AFE and AFE-FE. 展开更多

By using the Born-von Kfirmfin theory of lattice dynamics and the modified analytic embedded atom method, we reproduce the experimental results of the phonon dispersion in fcc metal Cu at zero pressure along three high symmetry directions and four oft-symmetry directions, and then simulate the phonon dispersion curves of Cu at high pressures of 50, 100, and 150 GPa. The results show that the shapes of dispersion curves at high pressures are very similar to that at zero pressure. All the vibration frequencies of Cu in all vibration branches at high pressures are larger than the results at zero pressure, and increase correspondingly as pressure reaches 50, 100, and 150 GPa sequentially. Moreover, on the basis of phonon dispersion, we calculate the values of specific heat of Cu at different pressures. The prediction of thermodynamic quantities lays a significant foundation for guiding and judging experiments of thermodynamic properties of solids under high pressures. 展开更多

Crystal data for the title compound are as follows: orthorhombic system, space group P212121 with a = 13.8287(7), b = 14.0715(7), c = 25.7403(12) A^°, V = 5008.8(4) A^°3, Mr = 1333.08, Z = 4, F(000) = 2644, Dc = 1.768 g/cm^3, μ(MoKα) = 3.189 mm^-1, the final R = 0.0351 and wR = 0.0814 (I 〉 2σ(I)). Compound 1 displays an 8-connected bcu topology 3D framework and hydrogen-bonding interactions stabilize the solid-state structure. A pump-probe technique is utilized to observe the quantum beat. Tinle-varying characteristics of the quantum beat are investigated using time-dependellt Fourier transform. The results show that the time-varying characteistics of the quantum beat not oldy offers a sensitive detecting method for observing the decay of atomic wave packets, but also provides a potential tool for monitoriHg the dissociation of molecules. 展开更多

Aiming at the problem that back propagation(BP)neural network predicts the low accuracy rate of fluff fabric after fluffing process,a BP neural network model optimized by particle swarm optimization(PSO)algorithm is proposed.The sliced image is obtained by the principle of light-cutting imaging.The fluffy region of the adaptive image segmentation is extracted by the Freeman chain code principle.The upper edge coordinate information of the fabric is subjected to one-dimensional discrete wavelet decomposition to obtain high frequency information and low frequency information.After comparison and analysis,the BP neural network was trained by high frequency information,and the PSO algorithm was used to optimize the BP neural network.The optimized BP neural network has better weights and thresholds.The experimental results show that the accuracy of the optimized BP neural network after applying high-frequency information training is 97.96%,which is 3.79%higher than that of the unoptimized BP neural network,and has higher detection accuracy. 展开更多

Typical Debye-like dielectric relaxation originating from electronic hopping between electronic traps and conductive band in surface Schottky barrier region is observed for ZnO single crystal-Au electrode system. However, after insulation of ZnO single crystal by heat treatment in rich oxygen atmosphere, dielectric relaxation and alternating current conductance are observed simultaneously in the dielectric spectra, implying that dielectric relaxation and charge transport can be induced simultaneously by electronic hopping at high temperature in an ordered system. The intrinsic correlation between local dielectric relaxation and long range charge transport offers us a new method to explore complicated dielectrics. 展开更多

The results show that the bound charges of poled sample can be released in short time by temperature field or pressure field. The released charge abruptly forms a large pulse current. The phenomena of released charge under external fields result in the ferroelectric-AFE phase transition induced by temperature or hydrostatic pressure. 展开更多

Based on nonequilibrium Green's function method in combination with density functional theory, we study the electronic transport properties of dipyrimidinyl-diphenyl molecules embedded in a carbon atomic chain sandwiched between zigzag graphene nanoribbon and different edge geometries C_2N-h2D electrodes. Compared with the graphene electrodes, the C_2N-h2D electrode can cause rectifying and negative differential resistance effects.For C_2N-h2D with zigzag edges, a more remarkable negative differential resistance phenomenon appears, whereas armchair-edged C_2N-h2D can give rise to much better rectifying behavior. These results suggest that this system can be potentially useful for designs of logic and memory devices. 展开更多

A new algorithm is proposed to determine the actual length and the number of the protruding fibres of yarn based on a combination of image acquisition technology. First, a yarn hairiness image is obtained by the series of image processing procedures that include grayscale transformation,skew correction,yarn binary image acquisition and yarn core binary image obtaining. Then,the hairiness is realized in single pixel width by the usage of thinning algorithm. Finally, a baseline of yarn core margin is obtained,and pixels that match 8-neighbor template correctly are found by row scanning in a certain area. From this,these pixels are judged and the real crossover points of yarn core margin and hairiness,i. e.,the starting points of hairiness,are gained. The real length of the protruding fibres is calculated by tracking hairiness from the starting point constantly. 展开更多

Identification of the aging condition and the failure probability of oil-paper insulation in transformer is important for improving the reliability of electric power transmission system and applying life cycle cost (LCC) management to electrical equipment. Based on data obtained in a series of multi-accelerated-aging experiments, two approaches for calculating failure probability of oil-paper insulation were compared in aspects of degree of polymerization (DP) and condition ranking. In the experiments, mineral oil and cellulose paper are sub- jected to electrical and thermal stresses, and several parameters, including dissolved gases’ volume fraction, furfural content, moisture content, and degree of polymerization, are measured after the aging process. Results show that weight of carbon oxide, which has a close relationship with cellulose paper degradation, is much higher in DP model than in condition ranking model. Moreover, it is concluded that DP model is more practically accurate than condition ranking model, because aging of cellulose paper rather than mineral oil is the key and critical factor of oil-paper insulation aging. 展开更多

The composite fabric is a new type of automobile fabric in recent years.The three-layer composite fabric was made of different materials that were linen weaving fabric,knitting fabric and warp-knitted spacer fabric.Through testing performances of three different adhesives,the thermoplastic urethanes(TPU)hot melt powder was selected to adhere every fabric.Then,the laminating process was designed and applied.The optimized process conditions were following:the temperature was 150℃,the pressure was 2.0 N·cm-2,the time was 80 s,and the dosage of adhesive was 20 g·m-2.This new laminated fabric has multi-functions,such as comfortability,permeability and physic mechanical properties.This lamination process will be used to be the basis for the study of functional laminated car seat fabric. 展开更多
