Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing passive optical network(OFDM-PON) has superior anti-dispersion property to operate in the C-band of fiber for increased optical power budget. However,the downlink broadcast exposes the physical layer vulnerable to the threat of illegal eavesdropping. Quantum noise stream cipher(QNSC) is a classic physical layer encryption method and well compatible with the OFDM-PON. Meanwhile, it is indispensable to exploit forward error correction(FEC) to control errors in data transmission. However, when QNSC and FEC are jointly coded, the redundant information becomes heavier and thus the code rate of the transmitted signal will be largely reduced. In this work, we propose a physical layer encryption scheme based on polar-code-assisted QNSC. In order to improve the code rate and security of the transmitted signal, we exploit chaotic sequences to yield the redundant bits and utilize the redundant information of the polar code to generate the higher-order encrypted signal in the QNSC scheme with the operation of the interleaver.We experimentally demonstrate the encrypted 16/64-QAM, 16/256-QAM, 16/1024-QAM, 16/4096-QAM QNSC signals transmitted over 30-km standard single mode fiber. For the transmitted 16/4096-QAM QNSC signal, compared with the conventional QNSC method, the proposed method increases the code rate from 0.1 to 0.32 with enhanced security. 展开更多

As for some low-resource languag... It is well known that automatic speech recognition(ASR) is a resource consuming task. It takes sufficient amount of data to train a state-of-the-art deep neural network acoustic model. As for some low-resource languages where scripted speech is difficult to obtain, data sparsity is the main problem that limits the performance of speech recognition system. In this paper, several knowledge transfer methods are investigated to overcome the data sparsity problem with the help of high-resource languages.The first one is a pre-training and fine-tuning(PT/FT) method, in which the parameters of hidden layers are initialized with a welltrained neural network. Secondly, the progressive neural networks(Prognets) are investigated. With the help of lateral connections in the network architecture, Prognets are immune to forgetting effect and superior in knowledge transferring. Finally,bottleneck features(BNF) are extracted using cross-lingual deep neural networks and serves as an enhanced feature to improve the performance of ASR system. Experiments are conducted in a low-resource Vietnamese dataset. The results show that all three methods yield significant gains over the baseline system, and the Prognets acoustic model performs the best. Further improvements can be obtained by combining the Prognets model and bottleneck features. 展开更多

Si-doped zinc oxide(SZO) thin films are deposited by using a co-sputtering method,and used as the channel active layers of ZnO-based TFTs with single and dual active layer structures.The effects of silicon content on the optical transmittance of the SZO thin film and electrical properties of the SZO TFT are investigated.Moreover,the electrical performances and bias-stress stabilities of the single- and dual-active-layer TFTs are investigated and compared to reveal the effects of the Si doping and dual-active-layer structure.The average transmittances of all the SZO films are about 90% in the visible light region of 400 nm-800 nm,and the optical band gap of the SZO film gradually increases with increasing Si content.The Si-doping can effectively suppress the grain growth of ZnO,revealed by atomic force microscope analysis.Compared with that of the undoped ZnO TFT,the off-state current of the SZO TFT is reduced by more than two orders of magnitude and it is 1.5 × 10^-12 A,and thus the on/off current ratio is increased by more than two orders of magnitude.In summary,the SZO/ZnO TFT with dual-active-layer structure exhibits a high on/off current ratio of 4.0 × 10^6 and superior stability under gate-bias and drain-bias stress. 展开更多

Silicon carbide(SiC) power modules play an essential role in the electric vehicle drive system. To improve their performance, reduce their size, and increase production efficiency, this paper proposes a multiple staked direct bonded copper(DBC) unit based power module packaging method to parallel more chips. This method utilizes mutual inductance cancellation effect to reduce parasitic inductance. Because the conduction area in the new package is doubled, the overall area of power module can be reduced. Entire power module is divided into smaller units to enhance manufacture yield, and improve design freedom. This paper provides a detailed design, analysis and fabrication procedure for the proposed package structure. Additionally, this paper offers several feasible solutions for the connection between power terminals and DBC untis. With the structure, 18dies were paralleled for each phase-leg in a econodual size power module. Both simulation and double pulse test results demonstrate that, compared to conventional layouts, the proposed package method has 74.8% smaller parasitic inductance and 34.9% lower footprint. 展开更多

To achieve the balance of en... Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are energyconstrained, so energy saving is one of the most important issues in typical applications. The clustered WSN topology is considered in this paper. To achieve the balance of energy consumption and utility of network resources, we explicitly model and factor the effect of power and rate. A novel joint optimization model is proposed with the protection for cluster head. By the mean of a choice of two appropriate sub-utility functions, the distributed iterative algorithm is obtained. The convergence of the proposed iterative algorithm is proved analytically. We consider general dual decomposition method to realize variable separation and distributed computation, which is practical in large-scale sensor networks. Numerical results show that the proposed joint optimal algorithm converges to the optimal power allocation and rate transmission, and validate the performance in terms of prolonging of network lifetime and improvement of throughput. © 2014 Chinese Association of Automation. 展开更多

The sixth generation(6G)mobile networks will reshape the world by offering instant,efficient,and intelligent hyper-connectivity,as envisioned by the previously proposed Ubiquitous-X 6G networks.Such hyper-massive and global connectivity will introduce tremendous challenges into the operation and management of 6G networks,calling for revolutionary theories and technological innovations.To this end,we propose a new route to boost network capabilities toward a wisdom-evolutionary and primitive-concise network(WePCN)vision for the Ubiquitous-X 6G network.In particular,we aim to concretize the evolution path toward the WePCN by first conceiving a new semantic representation framework,namely semantic base,and then establishing an intelligent and efficient semantic communication(IE-SC)network architecture.In the IE-SC architecture,a semantic intelligence plane is employed to interconnect the semantic-empowered physical-bearing layer,network protocol layer,and application-intent layer via semantic information flows.The proposed architecture integrates artificial intelligence and network technologies to enable intelligent interactions among various communication objects in 6G.It features a lower bandwidth requirement,less redundancy,and more accurate intent identification.We also present a brief review of recent advances in semantic communications and highlight potential use cases,complemented by a range of open challenges for 6G. 展开更多

This paper presents a four-plate undersea capacitive wireless power transfer(CPT)system for underwater applications such as autonomous underwater vehicles(AUVs).Generally,a CPT system transfers the power based on electric fields.The complex resonant compensation networks are used to make the CPT system work in the resonant condition.The resonant voltage is always very high.It will be a big challenge to the human safety.In this paper,a virtual electrons periodic reciprocating flow theory is proposed for the CPT system.In one switching cycle,the electrons firstly flow in the forward direction through the forward path and then flow in the inverse direction through the inverse path.The CPT system has been deeply studied with the vacuum dielectric or the air dielectric.However,for the CPT system,there are few papers to show the underwater application.In this paper,an undersea four-plate CPT system is designed and studied in the underwater condition.The two coupling capacitors and other elements of the CPT system could build a closed-loop path.A small value inductor is adapted as a resonant compensation network for the four-plate CPT system.The DC voltage is inverted to the AC voltage in the primary side with the single-phase full-bridge inverter.The resonant voltage is rectified to the DC voltage in the secondary side with the single-phase full-bridge diode rectifier.A 100 W power level CPT system is constructed to verify the theory analysis and the calculation.The theory analysis is verified by the simulated and experimental results.The stable output voltage and load power are achieved in this paper. 展开更多

The positive gate-bias temperature instability of a radio frequency (RF) sputtered ZnO thin-film transistor (ZnO TFT) is investigated. Under positive gate-bias stress, the saturation drain current and OFF-state current decrease, and the threshold voltage shifts toward the positive direction. The stress amplitude and stress temperature are considered as important factors in threshold-voltage instability, and the time dependences of threshold voltage shift under various bias temperature stress conditions could be described by a stretched-exponential equation. Based on the analysis of hysteresis behaviors in current- voltage and capacitance-voltage characteristics before and after the gate-bias stress, it can be clarified that the threshold- voltage shift is predominantly attributed to the trapping of negative charge carriers in the defect states located at the gate- dielectric/channel interface. 展开更多

Electricity theft is one of the major issues in developing countries which is affecting their economy badly.Especially with the introduction of emerging technologies,this issue became more complicated.Though many new energy theft detection(ETD)techniques have been proposed by utilising different data mining(DM)techniques,state&network(S&N)based techniques,and game theory(GT)techniques.Here,a detailed survey is presented where many state-of-the-art ETD techniques are studied and analysed for their strengths and limitations.Three levels of taxonomy are presented to classify state-of-the-art ETD techniques.Different types and ways of energy theft and their consequences are studied and summarised and different parameters to benchmark the performance of proposed techniques are extracted from literature.The challenges of different ETD techniques and their mitigation are suggested for future work.It is observed that the literature on ETD lacks knowledge management techniques that can be more effective,not only for ETD but also for theft tracking.This can help in the prevention of energy theft,in the future,as well as for ETD. 展开更多

We report the generation of optical pulses with an energy of 0. 55 m^3 and duration of 1.6-cycle (4.4 fs) at repetition rate of 1 kHz using a differentially pumped hollow fiber and chirped mirrors. Compared to the statically gasfilled scheme, the differentially pumping hollow fiber is demonstrated to support more energy output with higher transmission efficiency, and to increase the spectral broadening due to a reduction of ionization defocusing in plasma at the fiber entrance. The differentially pumping technique is proved to be an effective way to obtain optical pulses with mono-cycle and higher energy. 展开更多

A broadband continuum XUV spectrum in the cut-off region is demonstrated when the CE phase is shifted to about zero, rather than modulated spectral harmonics when setting of CE phase is nonzero. With a 45 nm process technique, the shrinking silicon feature size brings in a high-k/metal gate which significantly exacerbates the positive bias temperature instability (PBTI) and time-dependent dielectric breakdown (TDDB) effects of a NMOS transistor. However, previous works presented delay models to characterize the PBTI or TDDB individually. This paper demonstrates that the delay caused by the joint effects of PBTI and TDDB widely differs from the cumulated result of the delay caused by the PBT| and TDDB, respectively, with the experiments on an inverter chain. This paper proposes a hybrid aging delay model comprising both the PBTI and TDDB effects by analyzing the relationship between the aging propagation delay and the inherent delay of the gate. Experimental results on the logic gates under 45 nm, 32 nm, 22 nm, and 16 nm CMOS technologies show that the maximum error between the proposed model and the actual value is less than 2.5%, meanwhile the average error is about 1.5%. 展开更多

Interpreting deep neural networks is of great importance to understand and verify deep models for natural language processing(NLP)tasks.However,most existing approaches only focus on improving the performance of models but ignore their interpretability.In this work,we propose a Randomly Wired Graph Neural Network(RWGNN)by using graph to model the structure of Neural Network,which could solve two major problems(word-boundary ambiguity and polysemy)of ChineseNER.Besides,we develop a pipeline to explain the RWGNNby using Saliency Map and Adversarial Attacks.Experimental results demonstrate that our approach can identify meaningful and reasonable interpretations for hidden states of RWGNN. 展开更多
