This study is a contribution to the development of new building types based on the principle of bioclimatic construction. The aim is to find materials suited to the Sahelian climate and improve thermal comfort. To this end, an experimental study of the hygrothermal behavior of a bioclimatic building prototype with a domed roof is being carried out. Site meteorological data, air temperature and relative humidity of the building’s internal environment were measured for three climatic seasons in Burkina Faso. The data acquisition system consists of thermocouples, solarimeters and humidity meters, and the data are processed using Excel and Origin Pro software. The results show that, despite the high temperature values (between 36˚C and 39˚C) of the internal environment measured in the hot season, good thermal performance is achieved, in particular an average phase shift of 7.17 h and an average damping of 10.81˚C. The dome-roofed building could therefore contribute to limiting heat transmission to the building interior, improving thermal comfort all year round. Analysis of humidity profiles shows that indoor humidity varies between 66% and 80% for the September period, and between 44% and 69% for the January period. The high values of internal ambient humidity could be reduced by very good ventilation of the building. This study shows that the proposed bioclimatic building prototype with domed roof could be integrated into the Sahelian habitat.展开更多

文摘The safety valve is an important component to ensure the safe operation of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).However, the effect of safety valve type on the thermal runaway(TR)and gas venting behavior of LIBs,as well as the TR hazard severity of LIBs,are not known. In this paper, the TR and gas venting behavior of three 100 A h lithium iron phosphate(LFP)batteries with different safety valves are investigated under overheating.Compared to previous studies, the main contribution of this work is in studying and evaluating the effect of gas venting behavior and TR hazard severity of LFP batteries with three safety valve types. Two significant results are obtained:(Ⅰ)the safety valve type dominates over gas venting pressure of battery during safety venting, the maximum gas venting pressure of LFP batteries with a round safety valve is 3320 Pa,which is one order of magnitude higher than other batteries with oval or cavity safety valve;(Ⅱ)the LFP battery with oval safety valve has the lowest TR hazard as shown by the TR hazard assessment model based on gray-fuzzy analytic hierarchy process. This study reveals the effect of safety valve type on TR and gas venting, providing a clear direction for the safety valve design.

文摘Developing technologies that can be applied simultaneously in battery thermal management(BTM)and thermal runaway(TR)mitigation is significant to improving the safety of lithium-ion battery systems.Inorganic phase change material(PCM)with nonflammability has the potential to achieve this dual function. This study proposed an encapsulated inorganic phase change material(EPCM)with a heat transfer enhancement for battery systems, where Na_(2)HPO_(4)·12H_(2)O was used as the core PCM encapsulated by silica and the additive of carbon nanotube(CNT)was applied to enhance the thermal conductivity. The microstructure and thermal properties of the EPCM/CNT were analyzed by a series of characterization tests. Two different incorporating methods of CNT were compared and the proper CNT adding amount was also studied. After preparation, the battery thermal management performance and TR propagation mitigation effects of EPCM/CNT were further investigated on the battery modules. The experimental results of thermal management tests showed that EPCM/CNT not only slowed down the temperature rising of the module but also improved the temperature uniformity during normal operation. The peak battery temperature decreased from 76℃to 61.2℃at 2 C discharge rate and the temperature difference was controlled below 3℃.Moreover,the results of TR propagation tests demonstrated that nonflammable EPCM/CNT with good heat absorption could work as a TR barrier, which exhibited effective mitigation on TR and TR propagation. The trigger time of three cells was successfully delayed by 129,474 and 551 s,respectively and the propagation intervals were greatly extended as well.

文摘The coupling effect of heat absorption and release exists in the thermal decomposition of a few chemical materials. However, the impact of the above coupling on thermal hazard assessment is not considered in the literature studies. In this work, nitroguanidine(NQ)and 1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine(RDX)are selected as representative materials to explore the influence of the coupling effect on the thermal hazard assessment of chemical materials. The linear heating experiments of NQ and RDX are carried out by a microcalorimeter and synchronous thermal analyser. The thermal decomposition curves are decoupled by advanced thermokinetics software. The thermal decomposition and kinetic parameters before and after decoupling are calculated. The results of TG experiment show that both NQ and RDX began to lose mass during the endothermic stage. The endothermic melting and exothermic decomposition of NQ and RDX are coupled within this stage. The coupling effect has different degrees of influence on its initial decomposition temperature and safety parameters.Compared with the parameters in the coupling state, the initial decomposition temperature and adiabatic induction period after decoupling decrease. The self-accelerating decomposition temperature increases, and internal thermal runaway time decreases. In the thermal hazard assessment of chemical materials with coupling effects, the calculated parameters after decoupling should be taken as an important safety index。

文摘The influence of thermal damage on macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of different rocks has received much attention in the field of rock engineering. When the rocks are subjected to thermal treatment, the change of macroscopic characteristics and evolution of micro-structure would be induced, ultimately resulting in different degrees of thermal damage in rocks. To better understand the thermal damage mechanism of different rocks and its effect on the rock performance, this study reviews a large number of test results of rock specimens experiencing heating and cooling treatment in the laboratory.Firstly, the variations of macroscopic behaviors, including physical parameters, mechanical parameters, thermal conductivity and permeability, are examined. The variations of mechanical parameters with thermal treatment variables(i.e.temperature or the number of thermal cycles)are divided into four types.Secondly, several measuring methods for microstructure, such as polarizing microscopy, fluorescent method, scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray computerized tomography(CT),acoustic emission(AE)and ultrasonic technique, are introduced.Furthermore, the effect of thermal damage on the mechanical parameters of rocks in response to different thermal treatments, involving temperature magnitude, cooling method and thermal cycle, are discussed. Finally, the limitations and prospects for the research of rock thermal damage are proposed.

文摘The matrix thermal properties have an important impact on laser-induced plasma,as the thermal effect dominates the interaction between ns-pulsed laser and matter, especially in metals. We used a series of pure metals and aluminum alloys to measure plasma temperature and electron density through laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy,in order to investigate the effect of matrix thermal properties on laser-induced plasma. In pure metals,a significant negative linear correlation was observed between the matrix thermal storage coefficient and plasma temperature, while a weak correlation was observed with electron density. The results indicate that metals with low thermal conductivity or specific heat capacity require less laser energy for thermal diffusion or melting and evaporation, resulting in higher ablation rates and higher plasma temperatures. However, considering ionization energy, thermal effects may be a secondary factor affecting electron density. The experiment of aluminum alloy further confirms the influence of thermal conductivity on plasma temperature and its mechanism explanation.

文摘Although hydrofluoric acid(HF)surface treatment is known to enhance the joining of metals with polymers, there is limited information on its effect on the joining of AZ31 alloy and carbon-fiber-reinforced plastics(CFRPs)through laser-assisted metal and plastic direct joining(LAMP).This study uses the LAMP technique to produce AZ31-CFRP joints. The joining process involves as-received AZ31,HFpretreated AZ31,and thermally oxidized HF-pretreated AZ31 alloy sheets.Furthermore, the bonding strength of joints prepared with thermally oxidized AZ31 alloy sheets is examined to ascertain the combined effect of HF treatment and thermal oxidation on bonding strength. The microstructures, surface chemical interactions, and mechanical performances of joints are investigated under tensile shear loading.Various factors, such as bubble formation,CFRP resin decomposition, and mechanical interlocking considerably affect joint strength.Additionally, surface chemical interactions between the active species on metal parts and the polar amide along with carbonyl groups of polymer play a significant role in improving joint strength.Joints prepared with surface-pretreated AZ31 alloy sheets show significant improvements in bonding strength.

文摘Highly thermally conductive graphitic film(GF)materials have become a competitive solution for the thermal management of high-power electronic devices. However, their catastrophic structural failure under extreme alternating thermal/cold shock poses a significant challenge to reliability and safety. Here,we present the first investigation into the structural failure mechanism of GF during cyclic liquid nitrogen shocks(LNS),which reveals a bubbling process characterized by“permeation-diffusion-deformation”phenomenon.To overcome this long-standing structural weakness,a novel metal-nanoarmor strategy is proposed to construct a Cu-modified graphitic film(GF@Cu)with seamless heterointerface. This well-designed interface ensures superior structural stability for GF@Cu after hundreds of LNS cycles from 77 to 300 K.Moreover,GF@Cu maintains high thermal conductivity up to 1088 W m^(−1)K^(−1)with degradation of less than 5%even after 150 LNS cycles, superior to that of pure GF(50%degradation).Our work not only offers an opportunity to improve the robustness of graphitic films by the rational structural design but also facilitates the applications of thermally conductive carbon-based materials for future extreme thermal management in complex aerospace electronics.

文摘Recently,azobenzene-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid(ADCA)has been produced gradually for use as an organic synthesis or pharmaceutical intermediate due to its eminent performance. With large quantities put into application in the future, the thermal stability of this substance during storage, transportation, and use will become quite important. Thus,in this work, the thermal decomposition behavior, thermal decomposition kinetics, and thermal hazard of ADCA were investigated.Experiments were conducted by using a SENSYS evo DSC device.A combination of differential iso-conversion method, compensation parameter method, and nonlinear fitting evaluation were also used to analyze thermal kinetics and mechanism of ADCA decomposition. The results show that when conversion rate α increases, the activation energies of ADCA's first and main decomposition peaks fall. The amount of heat released during decomposition varies between 182.46 and 231.16 J·g^(-1).The proposed kinetic equation is based on the Avrami-Erofeev model, which is consistent with the decomposition progress.Applying the Frank-Kamenetskii model,a calculated self-accelerating decomposition temperature of 287.0℃is obtained.

文摘Thermal illusion aims to create fake thermal signals or hide the thermal target from the background thermal field to mislead infrared observers, and illusion thermotics was proposed to regulate heat flux with artificially structured metamaterials for thermal illusion. Most theoretical and experimental works on illusion thermotics focus on two-dimensional materials, while heat transfer in real three-dimensional(3D)objects remains elusive,so the general 3D illusion thermotics is urgently demanded. In this study,we propose a general method to design 3D thermal illusion metamaterials with varying illusions at different sizes and positions. To validate the generality of the 3D method for thermal illusion metamaterials,we realize thermal functionalities of thermal shifting, splitting, trapping, amplifying and compressing. In addition,we propose a special way to simplify the design method under the condition that the size of illusion target is equal to the size of original heat source. The 3D thermal illusion metamaterial paves a general way for illusion thermotics and triggers the exploration of illusion metamaterials for more functionalities and applications.
文摘This article aims to present the feasibility of storing thermal energy in buildings for solar water heating while maintaining the comfort environment for residential buildings. Our contribution is the creation of insulating composite panels made of bio-based phase change materials(bio-PCM is all from coconut oil),cement and renewable materials(treated wood fiber and organic clay). The inclusion of wood fibers improved the thermal properties;a simple 2%increase of wood fiber decreased the heat conductivity by approximately 23.42%.The issues of bio-PCM leakage in the cement mortar and a roughly 56.5%reduction in thermal conductivity with bio-PCM stability in composite panels can be resolved by treating wood fibers with an adjuvant by impregnating them in bio-PCM in the presence of the treated clay generated.Clay and wood fiber were treated with adjuvants that are both biological and environmentally acceptable,as confirmed by FTIR spectroscopy. The heat transfer bench(DIDATEK)showed a decrease in thermal conductivity.By using differential scanning calorimetric(DSC)analysis, the investigation of thermal stability and enthalpy during two heating cycles of pure bio-PCM and composite bio-PCM was validated. The novel renewable material was used to create composite panels for the trial prototype, which took the shape of a component attached to the solar heating system,33.57%less heat was lost, according to the heat transfer research. The outcomes demonstrated the possibility of replacing traditional electric water heating in residential buildings with solar water heating systems.

文摘At present, air handling units are usually used indoors to improve the indoor environment quality. However, while introducing fresh air to improve air quality, air velocity has a certain impact on the occupants’thermal comfort. Therefore,it is necessary to explore the optimization of air-fluid-body interaction dynamics. In this study, the indoor air flow was changed by changing the opening and closing degree of the blower, and the thermal manikin is introduced to objectively evaluate the human thermal comfort under different air velocities. The main experimental results show that the air change rate increases with the increase of the opening and closing degree of the blower considering an ACH(air changes per hour)range between 3.8 and 10.For a better prediction,a linear correlation with a coefficient of 0.995 is proposed. As the blower’s opening is adjusted to 20%,25%,30%,35%,and 40%,the air velocity sensor positioned directly beneath the air inlet records average velocities of 0.19,0.20,0.21,0.28,and 0.34 m/s over four hours, respectively.Observations on thermal comfort and the average sensation experienced by individuals indicate an initial increase followed by a decline when the blower’s operation begins, with optimal conditions achieved at a 35%opening.These findings offer valuable insights for future indoor air ventilation and heat transfer design strategies.
