This paper aims at analyzing the major character and the reason that causes this tragic ending. King Lear can be regarded as the mirror to the society by describing the tragedy of the two families in the play, the King Lear's family and the Glouster's family. Shakespeare has also denounced the social phenomenon that some children are not moral to their parents under the attraction of power and wealth by depicting the ideal and perfect figure Cordelia, it invokes us that it is necessary to build a society which is filled with love and happiness.展开更多
