In 2005 when celebrating 600th anniversary since Zheng He who is known to navigate towards South Sea during the Ming period made his first voyage in 1405,Chinese government specified 11 th of July which considered to ...In 2005 when celebrating 600th anniversary since Zheng He who is known to navigate towards South Sea during the Ming period made his first voyage in 1405,Chinese government specified 11 th of July which considered to be the sail off date as'Day of Voyage'.China,under the regime of Xi Jinping is raising the called 'One Belt and One Road',refers to a new economic belt around the Old Silk Road connecting China to Europe.Zheng He reincarnated as a political and cultural symbol in the 21 st century.However,there are another images of Zheng He in the countries around the South China Sea and the Indian Ocean.Zheng He’s father and grandfather were considered to be honored as hajji in the Muslim society.Pilgrimage is not done by individual alone but by family and neighbors.Therefore,it is natural to think that Zheng He’s father made his pilgrimage with He’s grandfather.It becomes clear that Zheng He was Muslim in his boyhood.After entering the Post-Suharto era,overseas Chinese began to confirm their identity by expressing out their Chinese elements.Under this circumstance,mosques memorializing Zheng Hewere founded by the Islamized Chinese.The mosque in Surabaya which celebrates the Muslim Zheng He was converted the original mosque into Chinese style which commemorates Zheng He for the 600 years anniversary of his voyage.At this time,a foundation was established which put up three action agenda as'Non-politics,Independence,Social reformation'.Considering the explanation of this'Non-politics',it refers that there might be several actions towards the Islamized Chinese but they always should keep a neutral stance.In this agenda,we can read between the lines that between two great state powers such as Indonesia and China,Chinese Muslims living in Indonesia should not be influenced by political intentions and should take balance and maintain neutral,non-political state.展开更多
