The Zhaishan site,which measures over 20,000 square meters in area,is located at the converging area of two tributaries of the Yellow River,the Dali River and the Mayi River.A recent archaeological survey has identifi...The Zhaishan site,which measures over 20,000 square meters in area,is located at the converging area of two tributaries of the Yellow River,the Dali River and the Mayi River.A recent archaeological survey has identified a stone-constructed fortification settlement and lots of cave dwellings.A total of six cave dwellings have been excavated,producing a great amount of ceramics,lithic,jades,bone artifacts and so on.Among which,one of the cave dwellings,coded as F1,formed an assembled complex,comprising of a front yard and a backyard.The front yard was represented by a horizontally extended cave,while the backyard was structured as a vertically extended cave.The intact setting of the house utilities within F1,including the ceramic vessels and the living features,indicates that F1 might have been abandoned in an emergency.The finding of F1 is very indicative and significant to understand the functions of those daily vessels and the living customs of the Zhaishan people at that time.The characteristics of ceramic vessels and its assemblage demonstrate that the Zhaizishan site belongs to the Xiaoguandao Type of the Miaodigou II Culture between the Late Yangshao and the Early Longshan Times.展开更多
