It was the first case of dystocia encountered by gia...A female panda housed at Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding had suffered dystocia characterized with uterine inertia during her delivery in August, 2004. It was the first case of dystocia encountered by giant panda in captivity in the world. This article reports the diagnosis and treatment of this patient as well as the historic breeding records, clinic signs and development of dystocia. Ultra sound examinations had been followed up during the diagnosis and treatments of this case. The cause of this uterine inertia is still not confirmed, hypocalcemia due to loss of appetite of pregnancy is possibly one of these causes based on the results of blood chemistry.展开更多
