According to different light sources, it can be divided into three kinds, active, passive and hybrid. This system can show characteristics of height, width and depth of facial soft tissues . It has the advantages of high reproducibility, low precision, high reliability, fast image acquisition, noninvasiveness and repeatability. The image can be used for facial anthropometric measurement , as well as establishing a three-dimensional facial model for surgical simulation and analysis .
