A symmetric plasmonie structure consisting of metal-insulator metal waveguide, groove studied, which supports double Fano resonances deriving from two different mechanisms and slot cavities is One of the Fano resonances originates from the interference between the resonances of groove and slot cavities, and the other comes from the interference between slot cavities. The spectral line shapes and the peaks of the double Fano resonances can be modulated by changing the length of the slot cavities and the height of the groove. Furthermore, the wavelength of the resonance peak has a linear relationship with the length of the slot cavities. The proposed plasmonic nanosensor possesses a sensitivity of 800nm/RIU and a figure of merit of 3150, which may have important applications in switches, sensors, and nonlinear devices. 展开更多

We numerically investigate a coupled-resonator structure consisting of a stub resonator and a nanodisk resonator using a two-dimensional finite element method. Simulation results show that plasmon-induced transparency (PIT) occurs in the transmission spectra, and the sharp asymmetric Fano lines increase the sensitivity to 1.4 ×10^3 nm/RIU. We also analyze the properties of the structure with different radii of the nanodisk and the length of the tooth cavity. Moreover, we find that the PIP only happens when the staggered system is around a fixed location with different separate distances, which is not similar to the previous researches. Our model may be important to photonic-integrated circuits and the sensitivity in sensors. 展开更多

We report a waveguide crossing based on a multimode-interference (MMI) structure for metal-insulator-metal (MIM) waveguides. The MMI-based crossing comprises two orthogonal intersecting MMI waveguides that are connected to the single-mode input/output waveguide symmetrically. Single self-images are formed at the cross- ing center and output plane of the MMI waveguide, thereby mitigating the crosstalk and improving the through- put. The characteristics of the proposed MMI-based crossing are investigated with the finite element method of Comsol Multiphysics. The results show that the throughput reaches -1.8 dB and the crosstalk is less than -46 dB at the wavelength of 1550 nm. 展开更多
