In this paper,we conduct an empirical study of Metaphorical Cognition and Translation of Chinese Words.Traditionally,metaphor is viewed as a figure of speech.The traditional theory regards metaphor as a phenomenon of ...In this paper,we conduct an empirical study of Metaphorical Cognition and Translation of Chinese Words.Traditionally,metaphor is viewed as a figure of speech.The traditional theory regards metaphor as a phenomenon of language,a figurative phenomenon of words.But metaphor is not only a phenomenon of language,but more importantly it is a cognitive phenomenon of human beings'.So this paper starts with the function of metaphor.We analyze metaphorical words and phrases carefully,and finally conclude out papers with some translating skills and principles based on the level of metaphorical cognition.The proper and flexible use of these principles and skills,we think,can do good to the betterment of translating lexical words.We hope that the research will contribute to the translation of metaphors as well.展开更多
