The author manages to make a deep interpretation of the psychology of characters, reveal the main theme and enable readers to appreciate Fitzgerald’s unique artistic style of irony. This study proves that all forms of irony in novels are the same as irony in ordinary language, which can be interpreted in the framework of Speech Act Theory, so as to further verify the feasibility of applying pragmatic theory to the appreciation of literary works, and provide some references for literature research in future.展开更多
