甲烷水合物(可燃冰)作为一种储量巨大、分布广泛的清洁能源而备受关注。围绕甲烷水合物的开采、以固态水合物形式储运天然气和氢气等问题开展基础科学研究,具有重要的科学意义和应用价值。成核过程是甲烷水合物形成的关键第一步,由甲烷... 甲烷水合物(可燃冰)作为一种储量巨大、分布广泛的清洁能源而备受关注。围绕甲烷水合物的开采、以固态水合物形式储运天然气和氢气等问题开展基础科学研究,具有重要的科学意义和应用价值。成核过程是甲烷水合物形成的关键第一步,由甲烷、水分子形成团簇并逐渐演化形成水合物的微观过程。然而,由于缺乏在高压环境下研究成核微观过程的有效实验方法,针对成核过程的实验研究进展缓慢。本文首先对气体水合物的结构及其性质进行了回顾;然后,以水合物演化的分子动力学模拟为基础,梳理现有关于水合物演化路径的初步认知;最后,以超快非线性光谱学方法为主,讨论了水合物实验研究的进展和展望。 展开更多

20世纪90年代以来,超快激光技术的不断发展与成熟,特别是得益于啁啾脉冲放大技术,使得超快光学与光谱学研究进入了全新的发展阶段。随着激光强度的增加、脉宽的缩短,超快光学研究从传统的微扰区进入到非微扰区乃至相对论区域,研究对象... 20世纪90年代以来,超快激光技术的不断发展与成熟,特别是得益于啁啾脉冲放大技术,使得超快光学与光谱学研究进入了全新的发展阶段。随着激光强度的增加、脉宽的缩短,超快光学研究从传统的微扰区进入到非微扰区乃至相对论区域,研究对象从宏观物质体系推进到介观乃至微观物质体系。结合非线性光学效应和极端条件光与物质相互作用,超快光学为人们提供了从太赫兹到X射线波段的新型光源。这些新波段相干光源的出现催生了太赫兹非线性光学、X射线非线性光学等研究方向,拓展了超快光学的研究领域、研究对象和应用范围,为物质科学研究持续提供全新的探测手段。 展开更多

Surface Tension and Electrostriction in a Suspended Bridge of Dielectric Liquid

The mechanism of the formation of a surprisingly long suspended liquid bridge subjected to a dc electric field has been intensively studied in the past few decades. However, the role of electrostriction and quantitative evaluation of surface tension in the bridge have not been evaluated. We present combined theoretical and experimental studies on this issue. Electrostriction is pointed out to be the driving force that pushes liquid upward against gravity and into the gap between two containers and forms the suspended bridge, which is within the framework of the Maxwell pressure tensor. Through a comparison between experiment and theory, the surface tension is found to play an important role in holding the long suspended bridge. Ignorance of the surface tension leads to much smaller bridge length than the experimental values. The dynamic stability of the bridge with respect to its diameter, length and conductance is also discussed. 展开更多

Improving the sensitivity of DC magneto-optical Kerr effect measurement to 10^(-7)rad/√Hz

A high-sensitivity DC magneto-optical Kerr effect(MOKE)apparatus is described in this Letter.Via detailed analysis on several dominatingnoise sources,we have proposed solutions that significantly lower the MOKE noise,and a sensitivity of 1.5×10^(-7)rad/√Hz is achieved with long-term stability.The sensitivity of the apparatus is tested by measuring a wedgeshaped Ni thin film on SiO_(2)with Ni thickness varying from 0 to 3 nm.A noise floor of 1.5×10^(-8)rad is demonstrated.The possibility of further improving sensitivity to 10^(-9)rad via applying AC modulation is also discussed. 展开更多
