Such compact and light devices can be used for the detection of energetic particles in space researches and laboratories. Because of their windowless construction, they are especially suitable for the detection of low energy electrons. Accordingly, at present they have been widely used in various electron spectrometers. The high resolution is one of the features of the CEM in comparison with the discontinuous electron multipliers. A resolution of about 50% for the tubular CEM (1, 2) and about 15% for the parallel plate CEM (PPEM) (3—5) has been reported.展开更多
