The past five years assutned the best and the most steady economic development oeriod in Sichuan Province ever since the founding of the new China in 1949. As a result, a large numbcr of hydropower projects were listed among the provincial key ones to be under construction. The undertakings of bank,security and ensurance also witnessed a promotion by leaps and bounds. From 1992 to 1996, a total of 4, 200 contracts have been reached to establish foreign-fund enterprises with the capital invested standing at US 1. 5 billion.
