AIM:During liver regeneration cellular proliferation and apoptosis result in tissue remodeling to restore normal hepatic mass and structure.Main regulators of the apoptotic machinery are the Bcl-2 family proteins but their roles are not well defined throughout the liver regeneration.We aimed to analyze the expression levels of bcl-2gene family members during resection induced liver regeneration. METHODS:We performed semi-quantitative RT-PCR to examine the expression level of bak,bax,bcl-2 and bcl-x_L in 70% hepatectomized rat livers during the whole regeneration process and compared to that of the sham and normal groups. RESULTS:The expression of bak and bax was decreased whereas that of bcl-2and bd-X_L was increased in hepatectomized animals compared to normal liver at most time points.We also reported for the first time that sham group of animals had statistically significant higher expression of bak and bax than hepatectomized animals.In addition,the area under the curve (AUC) values of these genes was larger in sham groups than the hepatectomized groups. CONCLUSION:The expression changes of bak,bax,bcl-2 and bcl-X_L genes are altered not only due to regeneration, but also due to effects of surgical operations. 展开更多

As a result of these devel... In this review, features and new trends on Turkish poultry industry are evaluated. Turkish poultry industry has rapidly developed in last years in especially broiler meat and egg production. As a result of these developments, The Turkish poultry sector is recognized as an industry. The industry has advantages such as modem facilities and production methods, thanks to international standards and international markets in close proximity, making it able to compete with the whole world. However, industry has some problems such as the high costs of the production and dependence on extemal inputs for raw materials in feed and breeders. Fortunately, Turkey is an interesting country that can adapt very quickly to emergencies. Turkish poultry industry is trying to adapt to new and difficult conditions and often succeeded. The policies being followed by the elimination of dependence in foreign, measures taken to reduce costs and the growth of the industry are supported in an increasingly manner to increase production and consumption. Thus, it is aimed that the Turkish poultry industry became much more useful industry on reduction in unemployment and finding a solution to the immigration problem by healthier, faster and planned development. 展开更多

Diagnosis and management of pediatric adrenal insufficiency

Background:Adrenal insufficiency(AI)is a wellknown cause of potentially life-threatening disorders.Defects at each level of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis can impair adrenal function,leading to varying degrees of glucocorticoid(GC)deficiency.Iatrogenic AI induced by exogenous GCs is the most common cause of AI.The criteria for the diagnosis and management of iatrogenic AI,neonatal AI,and critical illness-related corticosteroid insuffi ciency(CIRCI)are not clear.Data sources:We reviewed the recent original publications and classical data from the literature,as well as the clinical,diagnostic and management strategies of pediatric AI.Results:Practical points in the diagnosis and management of AI with an emphasis on iatrogenic AI,neonatal AI,and CIRCI are provided.Given the lack of sensitive and practical biochemical tests for diagnosis of subtle AI,GC treatment has to be tailored to highly suggestive clinical symptoms and signs.Treatment of adrenal crisis is well standardized and patients almost invariably respond well to therapy.It is mainly the delay in treatment that is responsible for mortality in adrenal crisis.Conclusion:Education of patients and health care professionals is mandatory for timely interventions for patients with adrenal crisis. 展开更多
