Background To identify the prevalence and also the full spectrum of symptoms/complaints of children and adolescents who are suffering from long COVID.Furthermore,we investigated the risk factors of long COVID in children and adolescents.Methods All consecutive children and adolescents who were referred to the hospitals anywhere in Fars province,Iran,from 19 February 2020 until 20 November 2020 were included.All patients had a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19.In a.phone call to patients/parents,at least 3 months after their discharge from the hospital,we obtained their current status and information if their parents agreed to participate.Results In total,58 children and adolescents fulillel the inclusion criteria.Twenty-six(448%)children/adolescents reported symptoms/complaints of long COVID.These symptoms included fatigue in 12(21%),shortness of breath in 7(12%),exer-cise intolerance in 7(12%),weakness in 6(10%),and walking intolerance in 5(9%)individuals.Older age,muscle pain on admission,and intensive care unit admission were significantly associated with long COVID.Conclusions Long COVID is a frequent condition in children and adolescents.The scientific community should inves-tigate and explore the pathophysiology of long COVID to ensure that these patients receive appropriate treatments for their condition. 展开更多

Octavinyl polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) was polymerized on the surface of Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) and then the NPs were functionalized with carboxylic acid groups using thiol-ene click reactions with thioglycolic acid.The as-prepared Fe3O4@POSS-COOH magnetic hybrid NPs had mesoporous structures with an average particle diameter of 15 nm and a relatively high specific surface area of 447 m^2· g^-1.Experimental results showed that 4 mg of Fe3O4@POSS-COOH NPs efficiently adsorbed and removed methylene blue from water at 5 min.This is due to the presence of both carboxylic acid and pendant vinyl groups on the Fe3O4@POSS-COOH NPs.These NPs could be easily withdrawn from water within a few seconds under moderate magnetic field and showed high stability in acid and alkaline aqueous mediums. 展开更多

A new electrochemical sensor for determination of isoproterenol (IP) is described. The sensor is based on carbon paste electrode (CPE) modified with 5-amino-2',4'-dimethoxybiphenyl-2-ol (5ADMB) and takes the advantages of carbon nanotubes (CNTs). Under the optimum pH of 7.0, the oxidation of IP occurs at a potential about 210 mV less positive than that of the unmodified CPE. The oxidation currents increased linearly with two concentration intervals oflP, one is 0.09 to 20.0 μ mol/L and, the other is 20.0 to 400.0 μmol/L. The detection limit (3or) obtained by square wave voltammetry (SWV) was 39.0 μmol/L. The practical application of the modified electrode was demonstrated by determining IP in IP ampoule, urine and human blood serum samples. 展开更多
