The electron's charge and spin degrees of freedom are at the core of modern electronic devices. With the in-depth investigation of two-dimensional materials, another degree of freedom, valley, has also attracted tremendous research interest. The intrinsic spontaneous valley polarization in two-dimensional magnetic systems, ferrovalley material, provides convenience for detecting and modulating the valley. In this review, we first introduce the development of valleytronics.Then, the valley polarization forms by the p-, d-, and f-orbit that are discussed. Following, we discuss the investigation progress of modulating the valley polarization of two-dimensional ferrovalley materials by multiple physical fields, such as electric, stacking mode, strain, and interface. Finally, we look forward to the future developments of valleytronics. 展开更多

Clinical outcome and prognostic factors of T4N0M0 colon cancer after R0 resection:A retrospective study

BACKGROUND Paradoxically,patients with T4N0M0(stage II,no lymph node metastasis)colon cancer have a worse prognosis than those with T2N1-2M0(stage III).However,no previous report has addressed this issue.AIM To screen prognostic risk factors for T4N0M0 colon cancer and construct a prognostic nomogram model for these patients.METHODS Two hundred patients with T4N0M0 colon cancer were treated at Tianjin Medical University General Hospital between January 2017 and December 2021,of which 112 patients were assigned to the training cohort,and the remaining 88 patients were assigned to the validation cohort.Differences between the training and validation groups were analyzed.The training cohort was subjected to multi-variate analysis to select prognostic risk factors for T4N0M0 colon cancer,followed by the construction of a nomogram model.RESULTS The 3-year overall survival(OS)rates were 86.2%and 74.4%for the training and validation cohorts,respectively.Enterostomy(P=0.000),T stage(P=0.001),right hemicolon(P=0.025),irregular review(P=0.040),and carbohydrate antigen 199(CA199)(P=0.011)were independent risk factors of OS in patients with T4N0M0 colon cancer.A nomogram model with good concordance and accuracy was constructed.CONCLUSION Enterostomy,T stage,right hemicolon,irregular review,and CA199 were independent risk factors for OS in patients with T4N0M0 colon cancer.The nomogram model exhibited good agreement and accuracy. 展开更多

Background:Cooked rhubarb(CR)is obtained by steaming raw rhubarb(Rheum palmatum L.,Rheum officinale Baill.,or Rheum tanguticum Maxim.ex Balf.)with millet wine.It is used as a traditional Chinese medicine for treating cerebral stroke,where patients often face severe constipation.This study explored the pharmacological effects and mechanisms of CR against ischemic stroke(IS)in rats.We used integrated analysis of gut microbiota,metabolomics,and network pharmacology.Methods:The compounds in CR were identified using LC-MS/MS.The impact of CR on rat middle cerebral artery occlusion/reperfusion(MCAO/R)-induced cerebral infarct size and brain tissue pathology was assessed through 2,3,5-triphenyl tetrazolium chloride and HE staining.Changes in hemorheology were measured by evaluating blood viscosity,and serum levels of pro-inflammatory cytokine were also determined.Gut microbiota composition was analyzed through 16S rRNA gene sequencing.Serum metabolites were examined using untargeted metabolomics and Spearman correlation analysis.The pseudo-germ-free test was used to determine whether tumour necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)and interleukin-1β(IL-1β)improvement in IS are dependent on gut microbiota.Results:In vivo studies showed CR enhances neurobehavioral function in MCAO/R rats and reduces cerebral infarction area.CR also ameliorates brain and intestinal barrier damage caused by stroke.It also decreased inflammation and oxidative stress in IS rats.Furthermore,CR promotes the growth of Akkermansia and Verrucomicrobia,aiding in intestinal barrier repair.Notably,CR primarily influences the primary bile acid biosynthesis pathway.The pseudo-germ-free experiment and network pharmacology confirmed TNF-αand IL-1βas potential targets.CR relies on gut microbiota for its anti-inflammatory effects to improve IS.Conclusion:Cooked rhubarb offers neuroprotective benefits by enhancing beneficial bacteria abundance and regulating bile acid metabolism.It emerges as a potential therapeutic agent for IS. 展开更多

It has been reported that the muscle-specific isoform (type M, PGAM2) of phosphoglycerate mutase (PGAM) is a housekeeping enzyme; it catalyzes the conversion of 3-phosphoglycerate into 2-phosphoglycerate in the glycolysis process to release energy. It is encoded by the Pgam2 gene. In this study, the cDNA of the porcine Pgam2 was cloned. This gene contains an open reading frame of 765 bp encoding a protein of 253 residues, and the predicted protein sequences share high similarity with other mammalians, 96% identity with humans, and 94% identity with mouse and rats. Pgam2 was mapped to SSC18q13-q21 by the RH panel. In this region, there are several QTLs, such as fat ratio, lean percentage, and diameter of muslce fiber, which affect meat production and quality. The reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction revealed that the porcine Pgam2 gene was mainly expressed in the muscle tissue (skeletal muscle and cardiac muscle), and was expressed highly at skeletal muscle development stages (embryonic periods: 33, 65, and 90 days post-conception (dpo); postnatal pigs: 4 days and adult). This indicates that the Pgam2 gene plays an important role in muscle growth and development. In addition, it was demonstrated that PGAM2 locates both in cytoplasm and nuclei, and takes part in the glycometabolism process of cytoplasm and nuclei. 展开更多

In 5G era,it is expected to achieve wireless network coverage including offshore areas.Modeling of marine wireless channels is the basis of constructing a marine communication system.In this paper,a communication scene between an unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)and a boat is simulated to study the marine wireless channel.Firstly,an improved spatial partitioning ray tracing algorithm is proposed to track the propagation path of electromagnetic waves at sea surface.Secondly,a mobile channel is simulated and modeled based on the track results.Finally,a loss measurement is carried out in the coastal waters based on the simple wireless channel loss measuring platform,and a path loss propagation model is built.Then we compare the actual measurement data with the simulation results and find that the two are have good consistency,which further verifies the reliability of the simulation. 展开更多

Microwave sensing offers important applications in areas such as data communication and remote sensing.It has thus received much attention from academia,industry,and governments.Atomic wireless sensing uses the strong response of the large electric dipole moment of a Rydberg atom in response to an external field to achieve precise measurement of a radio frequency(RF)signal.This method offers advantages over traditional wireless sensing including ultrawide energy level transitions,which makes it responsive to RF electric fields over a wide bandwidth.Here,we briefly review the progress of electric field measurement based on Rydberg atoms.We discuss the properties of Rydberg atoms,measurement using Rydberg atoms,experimental progress in electric field measurement of different bands,and different methods for detecting electric fields(such as atomic superheterodyne,machine learning,and critically enhanced measurement).The development of Rydberg atomic measurement focuses on the advantages of Rydberg atomic sensing,especially when compared to conventional microwave receivers.This work is of major significance to developing Rydberg-based measurements in astronomy,remote sensing,and other fields. 展开更多

Si alloying in the surface layer of NdFeB magnets was realized by thermal diffusion combined with magnetron sputtering.The surface composition,phase structure and morphology of NdFeB(S-Si)specimens were characterized by an X-ray diffractometer,an X-ray photoelectron spectrometer and a field emission scanning electron microscope,respectively.The corrosion resistance of bare NdFeB(S-Si)was analyzed by static full immersion corrosion test and electrochemical experiments.Effects of sputtering and thermal diffusion on the microstructure and corrosion resistance of the surface layer were studied.Results show that surface alloying layer can effectively improve the corrosion resistance of bare NdFeB with the optimized static total immersion corrosion test time in NdFeB(1S-Si)-800 of 36 h,which is much longer than that of the pristine NdFeB(less than 0.5 h).The E_(corr)of NdFeB(1S-Si)-800 positively shifts from-1.05 to-0.92 V,indicating that the corrosion tendency is obviously lower.The J_(corr)is1.45×10^(-6)A/cm^(2)which is 2 orders of magnitude lower than that of the pristine NdFeB(5.25×10^(-4)A/cm^(2)).The intergranular composite oxides existing in Nd-rich phase contribute to the enhancement of corrosion resistance of Si-surface-alloying NdFeB. 展开更多

Exosomes are extracellular vesicles secreted by most eukaryotic cells and participate in intercellular communication.The components of exosomes,including proteins,DNA,mRNA,microRNA,long noncoding RNA,circular RNA,etc.,which play a crucial role in regulating tumor growth,metastasis,and angiogenesis in the process of cancer development,and can be used as a prognostic marker and/or grading basis for tumor patients.Hereby,we mainly summarized as followed:the role of exosome contents in cancer,focusing on proteins and noncoding RNA;the interaction between exosomes and tumor microenvironment;the mechanisms that epithelial-mesenchymal transition,invasion and migration of tumor affected by exosomes;and tumor suppression strategies based on exosomes.Finally,the application potential of exosomes in clinical tumor diagnosis and therapy is prospected,which providing theoretical supports for using exosomes to serve precise tumor treatment in the clinic. 展开更多

Spermatogonial stem cells(SSCs)have great applications in both reproductive and regenerative medicine.Primates including monkeys are very similar to humans with regard to physiology and pathology.Nevertheless,little is known about the isolation,the characteristics,and the culture of primate SSCs.This study was designed to identify,isolate,and culture monkey SSCs.Immunocytochemistry was used to identify markers for monkey SSCs.Glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor family receptor alpha-1(GFRAl)-enriched spermatogonia were isolated from monkeys,namely Macaca fascicularis(M.fascicularis),by two-step enzymatic digestion and magnetic-activated cell sorting,and they were cultured on precoated plates in the conditioned medium.Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR),immunocytochemistry,and RNA sequencing were used to compare phenotype and transcriptomes in GFRAl-enriched spermatogonia between 0 day and 14 days of culture,and xenotransplantation was performed to evaluate the function of GFRAl-enriched spermatogonia.SSCs shared some phenotypes with rodent and human SSCs.GFRAl-enriched spermatogonia with high purity and viability were isolated from M.fascicularis testes.The freshly isolated cells expressed numerous markers for rodent SSCs,and they were cultured for 14 days.The expression of numerous SSC markers was maintained during the cultivation of GFRAl-enriched spermatogonia.RNA sequencing reflected a 97.3%similarity in global gene profiles between 0 day and 14 days of culture.The xenotransplantation assay indicated that the GFRAl-enriched spermatogonia formed colonies and proliferated in vivo in the recipient c-Kitw/w(W)mutant mice.Collectively,GFRAl-enriched spermatogonia are monkey SSCs phenotypically both in vitro and in vivo.This study suggests that monkey might provide an alternative to human SSCs for basic research and application in human diseases. 展开更多
