Thyroid associated ophthalmopathy is an autoimmune disorder which involves orbital and periorbital tissue. The immune-mediated inflammation of the orbital tissues can involve extraocular muscles, orbital connective tissue or orbital fat and periocular soft tissues. Bilateral involvement of thyroid associated orbitopathy is usually asymmetric, but unilateral thyroid associated orbitopathy has been less reported. Periorbital oedema as the only sign with hypothyroidism is uncommon and if present, it is more frequent bilaterally present and no cases are evidenced as unilateral. Pitting oedema in hypothyroidism is rare and can be due to increased capillary permeability, decreased adrenergic tone and increase in serotonin metabolism. Unilateral periorbital and eyelid oedema can associate with various clinical entities, multidisciplinary team is necessary to exclude the concomitant disease, so the patient can immediately be treated with proper therapy. We represent the case of unusually unilateral recurrent periorbital oedema in the period of time for 3 years with stabilized primary hypothyroidism and multinodular goitre. 展开更多

Lymphomas are known as neoplasm’s caused by clone proliferation of B and T lymphocytes. Extranodal lymphoma arises from tissues other than lymph nodes or even from sites which normally doesn’t contain lymph tissues. Orbital adnexal lymphoma arises from eyelid, orbit, lacrimal glands or conjunctivae and it is totally different from intraocular lymphoma. Wide range of differential diagnosis including infectious inflammatory orbital disease, preseptal and orbital cellulitis, orbital idiopathic inflammatory disease-pseudotumors, especially dacryoadenitis and myositis and thyroid associate orbit disease makes the diagnosis of orbital adnexal lymphoma even more difficult. We represent the case of diagnostic delay of very aggressive form orbital non-Hodgkin lymphoma occurred because of the unspecific signs and symptoms as well as not indicative imaging investigation and laboratory tests. 展开更多

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to assess the relationship between Clomifene citrate and retinal detachment in particular. Methods: a 42-year-old woman has developed bilateral retinal detachment after three courses of clomiphene citrate. A literature research for bilateral retinal detachment does not include this severe ophthalmologic complication. Conclusion: This is the first reported case of bilateral retinal detachment after treatment with clomiphene citrate. The caution is warranted in treating infertility patients with CC, and patient should be well informed of this side effect before prescribing this therapy by gynecologist. 展开更多

Purpose: We report a case of ocular worm diagnosed clinically and treated surgically. Methods: A 68-year-old man presented to the ophthalmology clinic, complaining of redness, foreign body sensation and lacrimation in the left eye since 1 week. Slit-lamp examination disclosed a subconjunctival whitish cord like structure with movement. Presentation, clinical, surgery removal, and treatment are described. Results: At the time of surgery, an alive and still intact worm was extracted through conjunctiva incision. Conclusions: As a not yet known endemic region, we would like to emphasize the importance of this zoonosis with its ocular manifestation, knowing previously the diagnostic difficulties. From this perspective, we conclude that the incidence of ocular dirofilariasis may be much higher than that is reported in our region. 展开更多
