When a pico satellite is under normal operational condi- tions, whether it is extended or unscented, a conventional Kalman filter gives sufficiently good estimation results. However, if the measurements are not reliable because of any kind of malfunc- tions in the estimation system, the Kalman filter gives inaccurate results and diverges by time. This study compares two different robust Kalman filtering algorithms, robust extended Kalman filter (REKF) and robust unscented Kalman filter (RUKF), for the case of measurement malfunctions. In both filters, by the use of de- fined variables named as the measurement noise scale factor, the faulty measurements are taken into the consideration with a small weight, and the estimations are corrected without affecting the characteristic of the accurate ones. The proposed robust Kalman filters are applied for the attitude estimation process of a pico satel- lite, and the results are compared. 展开更多

ADS has high sampling frequency and poor accuracy, on the other hand, another navigation system GPS has high accuracy compared to ADS but lower sampling frequency.Kalman Filter is used to integrate and minimize the errors of the two navigation systems. In the study, position and velocity values of a geostationary satellite are found. When performing this, a MATLAB algorithm is used for Runge-Kutta Fehlberg orbit integration method to solve spacecraft’s position and velocity. Integrated method is the solution for the systems which mainly work with a single station. Method provides calculation of azimuth, elevation and range data by using the position simulation results found by RKF. Errors of orbit determination are analysed. LQR Controller with Kalman Estimator Applied to UAV Longitudinal Dynamics

The aim of this study is designing an optimal controller with linear quadratic regulator (LQR) method for a small unmanned air vehicle (UAV). To better evaluate the effect of disturbances on the obtained measurements a Kalman filter is also used in the system. For this purpose a small UAV that is normally used as a radio controlled plane is chosen. The linearized equations for a wings level flight condition and the state space matrices are obtained. An optimal controller using LQR method to control the altitude level is then designed. The effect of the disturbances on the measurements are taken into account and the effectiveness of the Kalman filter in obtaining the correct measurements and achieving the desired control level are shown using the controller designed for the system. The small UAV is commanded to the desired altitude using the LQR controller through the control inputs elevator deflection and thrust rate. The LQR effectiveness matrices are chosen to find the gains necessary to build an effective altitude controller. Firstly the controller is tested under the situation where disturbances are absent. Then a Kalman filter is designed and the system under disturbances is tested with the designed controller and the filter. The results reveal the effectiveness of the Kalman filter and the LQR controller. 展开更多
