Clinical observation on the effect of acupuncture and moxibustion combined with rehabilitation training on post-stroke shoulder hand syndrome

Objective:To compare the clinical effects of body acupuncture,moxibustion,and body acupuncture plus moxibustion in the treatment of post-stroke shoulder hand syndrome(SHS).Methods:A total of 90 SHS patients after stroke were randomly divided into the body acupuncture group,the moxibustion group,and the body acupuncture plus moxibustion group,with 30 cases in each.On the basis of rehabilitation and routine treatment,the patients in different groups were treated with body acupuncture,moxibustion,and body acupuncture plus moxibustion respectively.Treatment was given once a day,5 times a week,and 4 weeks in all.The visual analogue scale(VAS)scores,edema grading scores,and simplified Fugl-Meyer assessment(FMA)scores were evaluated before and after treatment,and the therapeutic effects of patients were evaluated as well.Results:After treatment,the VAS and edema grading scores of the three groups were all lower and the FMA scores were all higher than those before treatment,with statistically significant differences(all P<0.05).The VAS and edema grading scores of the acupuncture plus moxibustion group were lower and the FMA score was higher than those of the body acupuncture group and the moxibustion group,with statistically significant differences(all P<0.05).The total effective rate of the acupuncture plus moxibustion group was 96.7%,higher than 80.0%of the body acupuncture group and 83.3%of the moxibustion group,with statistically significant differences(both P<0.05).Conclusion:Body acupuncture,moxibustion,and body acupuncture plus moxibustion are all effective for post-stroke SHS,while the effect of acupuncture plus moxibustion is the best in relieving the pain and swelling,and improving effectively the joint movement of post-stroke SHS patients,which should be popularized in clinical practice.

Acupuncture for chronic prostatitis:A randomized clinical trial

Objective:To explore whether there is a specific clinical effect of acupuncture in the treatment of chronic prostatitis.Methods:A total of 52 patients with chronic prostatitis were randomly divided into an acupuncture group(24 cases) and a placebo acupuncture group(28 cases).During the treatment,1 case was dropped out in the placebo acupuncture group and 51 patients accomplished the clinical trial finally in two groups.In the acupuncture group,Shènshū(肾俞BL23),Zhōngliáo(中髎BL33),Huìyáng(会阳BL35) and Sānyīnjiāo(三阴交SP6) were selected.In the placebo acupuncture group,the non-meridian points located lateral to BL23,BL33,BL35 and SP6 were selected,respectively.The duration of treatment was 8 weeks in each group.In the first 4 weeks of treatment,the treatment was given once every two days,three times weekly.In the last 4 weeks of treatment,the treatment was given once every three days,twice a week.Totally,20 acupuncture treatments were required in the whole trial.Before treatment,in week 4 and 8 of treatment and in follow-up,National Institutes of Health Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index(NIH-CPSI) score and the comprehensive effect were evaluated in the two groups successively.Results:In week 4 and 8 of treatment,NIH-CPSI score in the acupuncture group was lower than that before treatment,respectively(both P <0.05).In week 8 of treatment,NIH-CPSI score in the placebo acupuncture group was lower than that before treatment(P <0.05).NIH-CPSI score in the acupuncture group was lower than the placebo acupuncture group in week 8 of treatment(P <0.05).In followup,NIH-CPSI score of the two groups all decreased as compared with the score before treatment(both P <0.05),and the score in the acupuncture group was lower than the placebo acupuncture group(P <0.05).In the comparison of comprehensive effect,the total effective rate was 91.7% in the acupuncture group and was 74.1% in the placebo acupuncture group.The therapeutic effect in the acupuncture group was better than that of the placebo acupuncture group(P <0.05).Conclusion:Acupuncture relieves pelvic pain and urination symptoms and has a certain of long-term effect in patients with chronic prostatitis.

Exploration on the acupoint selection rule in modern literature for chronic gastritis treated with acupuncture and moxibustion in recent 10 years

Objective To summarize the acupoint selection rule for chronic gastritis treated with acupuncture and moxibustion so as to provide a certain evidence for clinical practice and scientific research.Methods By searching journal literature on chronic gastritis treated with acupuncture and moxibustion in recent 10 years,with data mining,the acupoints screened from literature were analyzed.Results A total of 803 articles were included finally.Conception vessel,stomach meridian and bladder meridian were mostly selected,the acupoints were selected from the abdomen,the thigh/crus,the back and the arms.The top 5 aucpoints with high frequency were Zúsānǐ(足三里ST36),Zhōngwǎn(中脘CV12),Wèishū(胃俞BL21)(332),Píshū(脾俞BL20)and Nèiguān(内关PC6).The top 5 acupoint combinations with high frequency included CV12 combined with ST36,BL21 with CV12,BL21 with ST35 and BL20 with CV12.The mostly used specific points were front-mu point,he-sea point,crossing point and back-shu point.Conclusion In treatment of chronic gastritis with acupuncture and moxibustion,conception vessel,stomach meridian and bladder meridian are particularly selected in combination and the specific points with duplicate effect are mostly selected,especially focusing on the application of front-mu point.

Exploration on acupoint selection rules of ancient acupuncture for chronic gastritis based on data mining

Objective:To explore the experiences of ancient acupuncture physicians in acupoint combination with meridians and body regions involved in treatment of chronic gastritis through data mining technology so as to provide the evidences for the clinical application of acupuncture for chronic gastritis in the modem time.Methods:Firstly,the ancient literature(database),searching words,inclusion and exclusion criteria were determined.Secondly,the database was organized through computer and manual retrieval.Finally,using data mining techniques,such as frequency analysis and association analysis,the experiences of ancient acupuncture physicians were explored in meridian selection and acupoint combination in treatment of chronic gastritis.Results:A total of 2243 items in compliance with the relevant requirements were included,covering224 acupoints for the treatment of chronic gastritis.Of them,the involved meridians were closely related to the stomach,especially to bladder,spleen and stomach meridians as well as Conception Vessel.The acupoints selected not only focus on the local acupoints related to lesions,but also on the distal ones,especially those located in the lower limbs.The most common acupoints for any symptom were Zusanli(足三里ST36),Neiguan(内关PC6),Zhongwan(中脘CV12),Gongsun(公孙SP4)and Taibai(太白SP3).For epigastric pain,Liangmen(梁门ST21)and Xiangu(陷谷ST43)were the representatives as the combination of acupoints from the same meridian.For the disorders with upward reversion of qi,PC6 and SP4 were generally combined.Among the specific points,the five-shu points were the most common,followed by the front-mu points.In the combination with the specific points involved,PC4 and SP4 were highly associated.The acupoint combination was particular for each category of main symptoms.Conclusion:In treatment of chronic gastritis with acupuncture,the ancient physicians give the great consideration to symptom differentiation and meridian differentiation relevant with gastric disorders,as well as the combination of the distal and nearby acupoints.Besides,the specific points are of the best choice.
