Cationic polyacrylamide(CPAM) which was prepared through complex initiation system in laboratory and cationic polyacrylamide(Ciba) were used as retention and drainage aids for bleached wheat straw pulp. The influences of (polydiallyldimethlammonium chloride) PDADMAC and PDADMAC/CPAM on Zeta potential and drainability of pulp was investigated. The dual drainage and retention systems such as CPAM/modified bentonite, CPAM/colloidal SiO2, as well as their comparison between the two systems were discussed, and the optimal dosages of additives were determined. The results showed that: the complex systems can further enhance filler retention, drainability of pulp and strength properties of paper. 展开更多

SURFACE SIZING AND LOW SOLIDS CONTENT COATING TO IMPROVE QUALITY OF PAPER

In this article we used surfacing sizing and ultra fine talcum powder to improve the quality of base paper. The results showed that the optimal formulation is: sodium hexametaphosphate 0.4 parts, PC-01 25 parts and 100 parts ultra fine talcum powder. The solids content of coating is 18%. Surface sizing and low solids coating can improve brightness, opacity, IGT Pick resistance, and breaking length which were improved by 3.4%, 6.5%, 2.07m/sec and 700m separately than uncoated paper respectively. K and N ink absorption value was reduced from 62.1 to 34.6. The method can be used to produce base paper for art paper and ultra low weight coated paper (ULWC). It can reduce the cost of art paper. 展开更多

But it is rarely used in coated paper. The retro-reflective theory of micro-bead is described. Also the effect of size of micro-bead, dosage of binder and different color layers on reflective properties of coated paper are discussed in this article. The results show that its retro-reflective efficiency is good, equally to reflective fabric or film when the micro-glass bead is used in coated paper. 展开更多
