Prostate cancer(PCa)is one of the most common malignant tumors in the male genitourinary system,ranking second in incidence worldwide.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),as an important component of complementary and al...Prostate cancer(PCa)is one of the most common malignant tumors in the male genitourinary system,ranking second in incidence worldwide.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),as an important component of complementary and alternative medicine,shows unique advantages in cancer treatment.Chinese herbal medicine is usually composed of multiple ingredients and involves multiple signaling pathways,which showed function of inducing apoptosis of cancer cells,arresting the cell cycle,inhibiting invasion and metastasis,reducing drug resistance,and regulating immune function.Physical therapy is also an important treatment of TCM.Currently,Physical therapy such as acupuncture or Tai Chi and Qigong are gaining increased recognition in the management of PCa,particularly in addressing issues like urinary incontinence and bone metastasis-related pain.This article reviews the TCM treatment and therapy of PCa,in order to provide new research avenues and treatment options for the treatment of PCa with TCM and improve the quality of life of patients.展开更多
BACKGROUND Dyslipidemia is frequently present in patients with diabetes.The associations of remnant cholesterol and mortality remains unclear in patients with diabetes.AIM To explore the associations of remnant choles...BACKGROUND Dyslipidemia is frequently present in patients with diabetes.The associations of remnant cholesterol and mortality remains unclear in patients with diabetes.AIM To explore the associations of remnant cholesterol with all-cause and cardiovas-cular mortality in patients with diabetes.METHODS This prospective cohort study included 4740 patients with diabetes who par-ticipated in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 1999 through 2018.Remnant cholesterol was used as the exposure variable,and all-cause and cardiovascular mortality were considered outcome events.Outcome data were obtained from the National Death Index,and all participants were followed from the interview date until death or December 31,2019.Multivariate proportional Cox regression models were used to explore the associations between exposure and outcomes,in which remnant cholesterol was modeled as both a categorical and a continuous variable.Restricted cubic splines(RCSs)were calculated to assess the nonlinearity of associations.Subgroup(stratified by sex,age,body mass index,and duration of diabetes)and a series of sensitivity analyses were performed to evaluate the robustness of the associations.RESULTS During a median follow-up duration of 83 months,1370 all-cause deaths and 389 cardiovascular deaths were documented.Patients with remnant cholesterol levels in the third quartile had a reduced risk of all-cause mortality[hazard ratio(HR)95%confidence interval(CI):0.66(0.52-0.85)];however,when remnant cholesterol was modeled as a continuous variable,it was associated with increased risks of all-cause[HR(95%CI):1.12(1.02-1.21)per SD]and cardiovascular[HR(95%CI):1.16(1.01-1.32),per SD]mortality.The RCS demonstrated nonlinear associations of remnant cholesterol with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality.Subgroup and sensitivity analyses did not reveal significant differences from the above results.CONCLUSION In patients with diabetes,higher remnant cholesterol was associated with increased risks of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality,and diabetes patients with slightly higher remnant cholesterol(0.68-1.04 mmol/L)had a lower risk of all-cause mortality.展开更多
Background:The treatment alternatives for bladder cancer(BLCA),the 10th most prevalent cancer in the world,need to be further investigated,and many active substances like Puerarin in herbal medicine were found to be e...Background:The treatment alternatives for bladder cancer(BLCA),the 10th most prevalent cancer in the world,need to be further investigated,and many active substances like Puerarin in herbal medicine were found to be effective in treating BLCA.The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential treating mechanisms of Puerarin on BLCA.Methods:The cell counting kit 8 assay and flow cytometry were performed to confirm Puerarin’s ability to suppress BLCA.The differentially expressed proteins(DEPs)were obtained by Tandem Mass Tags technology and functional enrichment analysis performed by R studio.The most enriched pathways were selected for study and the DEPs were screened out.Protein-protein interaction network maps were created using String and Cytoscape and key proteins,which will be analyzed for survival,expression,and upstream transcription factor prediction,were screened out using the cytoHubba plugin.CHEA3 was used to obtain upstream transcription factor validated by molecular docking and western blotting experiments.Results:Cell counting kit 8 showed that Puerarin inhibited BLCA cells,with 50%inhibitory concentration of 218μmol/L in T24 and 198μmol/L in 5637.Flow cytometry reveals that Puerarin blocks T24 and 5637 cells in G1 phase.1,385 DEPs were obtained and the enrichment analysis revealed that cell cycle and DNA replication were the two main areas in which DEPs were enriched.Cyclin-B-cyclin dependent kinase 1(CDK1),cyclin B1(CCNB1),and polo-like kinase 1(PLK1)were identified as key proteins,and their upstream transcription factor was predicted to be centromere protein A(CENPA).Puerarin’s binding energy to CENPA was determined by molecular docking to be−6.3 kcal/mol,indicating a strong binding interaction.Western blot showed that Puerarin significantly reduced the expression of CENPA.Conclusion:We hypothesize that Puerarin may inhibit the proliferation of bladder cancer cells by inhibiting CENPA expression to regulate PLK1 and CCNB1 expression,thereby affecting cell cycle.展开更多
