Declaration of the Third China-US-Canada Buddhist Forum

On November 15,2023,over 300 representatives and esteemed guests from the Buddhist and academic communities of China,the United States,and Canada convened in Hangzhou(杭州),Zhejiang(浙江)Province,China,for the Third China-US-Canada Buddhist Forum.Centering on the theme of"Tranquil Mind,Auspicious Coexistence(心地和平,共生吉祥)",we engaged in profound discussions and reached a consensus on two pivotal topics:"Buddhist Scripture Translation and Dissemination in the Context of Globalization"and"Chan and Modern Life",yielding fruitful outcomes.

Symposium Held to Commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the BAC in Beijing

On October 25,2023,the Symposium Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the Buddhist Association of China(BAC)was grandly held in Beijing.Chen Ruifeng(陈瑞峰),Vice Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China(CPC)Central Committee and Director of the National Religious Affairs Administration,attended and delivered a speech.Venerable Yanjue(演觉),President of the BAC,gave a talk during the Symposium.

Joint Declaration of the 23rd China-ROK-Japan Buddhist Friendship Exchange Conference

With the joint efforts of the Buddhist communities in China,the Republic of Korea(ROK)and Japan,the 23rd China-ROK-Japan Buddhist Friendship Exchange Conference was held in Seoul from November 6 to 8,2023,after a lapse of three years.It is indeed of great significance,with exceptionally auspicious cause and condition.

The First Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Sixth Patriarch Chan Culture Festival and Symphonic Chorus"Hymns to Huineng"World Tour Kicks off in Hong Kong On November 1,2023,the First Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Sixth Patriarch Chan Culture Festival and Symphonic Chorus"Hymns to Huineng(惠能颂)"World Tour Hong Kong Stop,jointly organized by the Guangdong Buddhist Association,Hong Kong Buddhist Association,and Buddhist Association of Macao,and hosted by the Hong Kong Buddhist Association and the Po Lin Monastery(宝莲禅寺)in Hong Kong,was grandly inaugurated at the Po Lin Monastery.This is the first major event organized by the Guangdong,Hong Kong and Macao Buddhist communities in Hong Kong since the COVID-19 epidemic outbreak more than three years ago.It is of great importance in promoting friendship among the Buddhist communities in the Greater Bay Area,strengthening the cultural exchanges and mutual understanding among the people in the region,and even promoting Chinese Buddhism to the world.The Buddhist Association of China(BAC)and the China Committee on Religion and Peace(CCRP)sent congratulatory letters.

The Buddhist Academy of China Inaugurates New Campus in Fenghuangling, Haidian District, Beijing

On the morning of October 13, 2021, with the inauguration of a new campus of the Buddhist Academy of China, a joyful mood prevailed on Fenghuangling(凤凰岭), Haidian(海淀) District of Beijing. The opening ceremony was attended by Wang Zuo’an(王作安), Vice Minister of United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee and Minister of the National Religious Affairs Administration;Yang Xiaobo(杨小波).

The Invitational Exhibition of Chinese Buddhist Calligraphy and Painting Opened in Beijing

As a Buddhist activity held in the golden age to demonstrate the cultural achievements in China, the Invitational Exhibition of Chinese Buddhist Calligraphy and Painting opened in the National Art Musuem on September 28, 2021. The event was hosted by the Buddhist Association of China(BAC), and organized by the Cultural and Arts Committee of the BAC and the Art Exchange Base of Chinese Buddhist Calligraphy and Painting.

The Working Committee on Theravada Buddhism of the BAC's 10th Council Held Its First Work Meeting in Xishuangbanna

On the morning of July 8, 2021, the Working Committee on Theravada Buddhism of the 10th Council of the Buddhist Association of China(BAC) began its first work meeting in Xishuangbanna. The discussion centered on the improvement of Committee’s work and identified its key tasks for the next five years. The goal of the meeting was to facilitate the healthy transmission and development of Buddhism of Theravada tradition and to effectively promote its adaptation to the Chinese context.

Panchen Rinpoche Earns “Doctoral Degree” of Gelug School of Tibetan Buddhism

LHASA, Oct. 26(Xinhua)--After more than 20 years of sutra studying, Panchen Erdeni Chos-kyi rGyal-po(班禅额尔德尼·确吉杰布) has attained the highest degree in exoteric teachings of the Gelug School of Tibetan Buddhism, equivalent to a doctoral degree in modern education.The Panchen Rinpoche earned the Kachen(嘎钦) degree after completing a two-hour sutra debate Tuesday at the Tashilhunpo Monastery(扎什伦布寺) in the city of Xigaze, southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region.

From November 6 to 7,2023,the 23rd China-ROK-Japan Buddhist Friendship Exchange Conference(hereinafter referred to as the"Trilateral Conference")was held in Seoul,the Republic of Korea(ROK).Venerable Yanjue(演觉),President of the Buddhist Association of China(BAC),led the Chinese Buddhist delegation to attend the Conference.More than 280 delegates from China,the ROK and Japan gathered in Seoul,holding conversations about the future,and conducting in-depth discussions on a wide range of topics under the Conference theme of"The Role of Buddhists in the Coexistence of Human Society".

On December 2,2023,the Buddhist Exchange Meeting in Lancang-Mekong Region was held in Xishuangbanna(西双版纳),Yunnan Province.The event,with the theme of"Brighten the Mind Light,Share a Common Destiny",was co-hosted by the Buddhist Association of China(BAC)and Yunnan Buddhist Association,and organized by Xish-uangbanna Buddhist Association.

Brighten the Mind Light and Pray for Peace:The Buddhist Exchange Meeting in Lancang-Mekong Region Held in Beijing

On the occasion of the Buddha’s Birthday Festival, the Buddhist Association of China(BAC) held the Buddhist Exchange Meeting in Lancang-Mekong Region on May 18, 2021, with the theme of “Brighten the Mind Light and Pray for Peace.” The meeting was held both online and offline, with the offline avenue set in Guangji Monastery, Beijing.

The BAC Celebrates the 2021 Buddha's Birthday

Adding luster to the clear and warm early summer, the Buddha’s Birthday finally arrived. In memory of it, on May 19, 2021,1 the Buddhist Association of China(BAC) held a celebration in Beijing Guangji Monastery(广济寺) with a view to carrying forward Buddhist fine traditions, disseminating Buddhist compassion and peace, and promoting the building of a human community with a shared future.

Tranquil Mind,Auspicious Coexistence:China-US-Canada Buddhist Forum Held in Hangzhou,Zhejiang Province

The Third China-US-Canada Buddhist Forum took place in Hangzhou(杭州)City,Zhejiang Province,China,from November 15 to 17,2023,under the theme"Tranquil Mind,Auspicious Coexistence".Approximately 300 representatives from the Buddhist communities of China,the United States,and Canada,along with esteemed guests from all walks of life,gathered by the Qiantang River(钱塘江)and journeyed together to fulfill their promise in the Jingshan Mountain(径山).

Hongfa Monastery in Shenzhen

Preparations for the construction of the Shenzhen Hongfa Monastery(弘法寺) commenced in 1983, in the new historical context of China’s reform and opening up. Construction work then began in 1985, after the purification ritual was conducted by Venerable Master Benhuan(本焕). In June 1992, the construction of the main buildings was completed.
