Effects of electronic energy deposition and nuclear energy deposition induced by the impact of heavy ions on the hardness and Young’s modulus of sodium borosilicate glass were investigated. The work concentrates on sodium borosilicate glasses, henceforth termed NBS1 (60.0% SiO2, 15.0% B2O3, and 25.0% Na2O in mol%). The NBS1 glasses were irradiated by P, Kr, and Xe ions with 0.3 MeV, 4 MeV, and 5 MeV, respectively. The hardness and Young’s modulus of ion-irradiated NBS1 glasses were measured by nanoindentation tests. The relationships between the evolution of the hardness, the change in the Young’s modulus of the NBS1 glasses, and the energy deposition were investigated. With the increase in the nuclear energy deposition, both the hardness and Young’s modulus of NBS1 glasses dropped exponentially and then saturated. Regardless of the ion species, the nuclear energy depositions required for the saturation of hardness and Young’s modulus were apparent at approximately 1.2 × 10^20 keV/cm^3 and 1.8 × 10^20 keV/cm^3, respectively. The dose dependency of the hardness and Young’s modulus of NBS1 glasses was consistent with previous studies by Peuget et al. Moreover, the electronic energy loss is less than 4 keV/nm, and the electronic energy deposition is less than 3.0 × 10^22 keV/cm^3 in this work. Therefore, the evolution of hardness and Young’s modulus could have been primarily induced by nuclear energy deposition.展开更多
This article reported the application of wrist-ankle acupuncture with the ultrasound-guided interfascial plane block(Transversus abdominis plane block,TAPB;Rectus sheath block,RSB;Rhomboid intercostal and sub-serratus...This article reported the application of wrist-ankle acupuncture with the ultrasound-guided interfascial plane block(Transversus abdominis plane block,TAPB;Rectus sheath block,RSB;Rhomboid intercostal and sub-serratus block,RISSB) in two emergency laparotomy in elderly frail patients.These cases were successfully completed with only a small dosage of narcotic analgesics,and the patient's spontaneous breathing was preserved and the vital signs of the patients were stable with the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) of 2 points and the oxygen saturation level over 95%.Both patients recovered soon after the surgery.The combination of wrist-ankle acupuncture and interfascial plane block to preserve spontaneous breathing during laparotomy in elderly frail patients in China had not been previously reported.展开更多
Objective:To observe the influence of wrist-ankle acupuncture(WAA)on postoperative nausea and vomiting(PONV)undergoing radiofrequency ablation(RFA)in thyroid nodule and its analgesic effect.Methods:A total of 66 patie...Objective:To observe the influence of wrist-ankle acupuncture(WAA)on postoperative nausea and vomiting(PONV)undergoing radiofrequency ablation(RFA)in thyroid nodule and its analgesic effect.Methods:A total of 66 patients with thyroid nodule and undergoing RFA were randomized into a WAA group and a sham-acupuncture(SA)group,33 cases in each one.Acupuncture was exerted after the patients entering operation room.In the WAA group,WAA was applied on the bilateral Upper 1,2 and 3 areas.In the SA group,the sham-acupuncture was given on the same areas.In 30 min after needle insertion,the routine RFA started in the patients of the two groups.All the needles were removed when the operation was finished.The proportion of intraoperative sufentanil supplementation,the incidence of24 h PONV and the proportion of intraoperative intravenous injection of urapidil were recorded in the patients of the two groups.Results:In the WAA group,sufentanil was supplemented by 12.90%,obviously less than 36.36%in the SA group.The incidence of 24 h PONV was 9.68%in the WAA group,remarkably lower than 27.27%in the SA group,indicating statistical significances(both P<0.05).The intravenous injection of urapidil was not applied during operation in the two groups,without statistical difference between the groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:Wrist-ankle acupuncture reduces the intraoperative demand of sufentanil in radiofrequency ablation of thyroid nodule and this therapy is preventive for PONV.展开更多
