Purpose: Metalloproteinases (MMP) and their inhibitors (TIMP) are essential for assembly and remodelling of fibrous tissue all over the body. We aimed to detect different MMPs and TIMPs in Tenon fibroblasts to determine the presence of this mechanism in the human conjunctiva If it is possible to use the MMP and TIMP system to prevent permanent tissue alterations, this would possibly have an impact on future filtering surgery. 展开更多
