The change in the ecological environment in the arid core area is a critical issue in the context of global warming. To study the paleoclimate evolution, precise identification of minerals deposited in Asia’s arid hinterland,Lop Nur Salt Lake,NW China was conducted. The hyperspectral data of the salt crust was sampled to identify the species and content of sedimentary minerals, and the multispectral photos were used to reconstruct the salt crust morphology using the unmanned aerial vehicles platform. The SUnSAL(sparse unmixing by variable splitting and augmented Lagrangian)method was employed to inverse the sedimentary mineral components along the shoreline. The heterogeneity of salt and clay minerals in bright and dark ear-shaped strips was evaluated. The paleoclimatic environment associated with salt lake extinction was reconstructed by analyzing paleoclimate records of sediments, spectral reflectance and morphology of the salt crust. Results show that:(1)the variations in the micro-geomorphology of the salt crust are obviously the reason for the formation of bright and dark ear-shaped strips and the differences in the species and relative content of the sedimentary minerals are the microscopic reason. The high ratio of sedimentary salt minerals to clay minerals(RS/C)contributes to the high reflectivity, and the salt crust presents a bright texture. The low RS/C results in the low reflectivity, salt crust presents a dark texture;(2)the bright and dark ear-shaped strips represent warm-arid and cold-humid climates. The shape of the Lop Nur Lake shoreline evolved due to alternating warm-dry and cold-humid paleoclimate changes. 展开更多

The impacts of three periods of urban land expansion during 1990–2010 on near-surface air temperature in summer in Beijing were simulated in this study, and then the interrelation between heat waves and urban warming was assessed. We ran the sensitivity tests using the mesoscale Weather Research and Forecasting model coupled with a single urban canopy model,as well as high-resolution land cover data. The warming area expanded approximately at the same scale as the urban land expansion. The average regional warming induced by urban expansion increased but the warming speed declined slightly during 2000–2010. The smallest warming occurred at noon and then increased gradually in the afternoon before peaking at around 2000 LST—the time of sunset. In the daytime, urban warming was primarily caused by the decrease in latent heat flux at the urban surface. Urbanization led to more ground heat flux during the day and then more release at night, which resulted in nocturnal warming. Urban warming at night was higher than that in the day, although the nighttime increment in sensible heat flux was smaller. This was because the shallower planetary boundary layer at night reduced the release efficiency of near-surface heat. The simulated results also suggested that heat waves or high temperature weather enhanced urban warming intensity at night. Heat waves caused more heat to be stored in the surface during the day, greater heat released at night, and thus higher nighttime warming. Our results demonstrate a positive feedback effect between urban warming and heat waves in urban areas. 展开更多

Triboelectric nanogenerator(TENG)converts mechanical energy into valuable electrical energy, offering a solution for future energy needs. As an indispensable part of TENG,textile TENG(T-TENG)has incredible advantages in harvesting biomechanical energy and physiological signal monitoring. However, the application of T-TENG is restricted, partly because the fabric structure parameter and structure on T-TENG performance have not been fully exploited. This study comprehensively investigates the effect of weaving structure on fabric TENGs(F-TENGs)for direct-weaving yarn TENGs and post-coating fabric TENGs.For direct-weaving F-TENGs,a single-yarn TENG(Y-TENG)with a core-sheath structure is fabricated using conductive yarn as the core layer yarn and polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)filaments as the sheath yarn.Twelve fabrics with five different sets of parameters were designed and investigated. For post-coating F-TENGs,fabrics with weaving structures of plain, twill, satin, and reinforced twill were fabricated and coated with conductive silver paint.Overall, the twill F-TENGs have the best electrical outputs, followed by the satin F-TENGs and plain weave F-TENGs.Besides,the increase of the Y-TENG gap spacing was demonstrated to improve the electrical output performance.Moreover,T-TENGs are demonstrated for human-computer interaction and self-powered real-time monitoring. This systematic work provides guidance for the future T-TENG’s design. 展开更多
