The effects of graphite granularity on the properties of low carbon MgO-C based materials have been investigated in the work. Large crystal fused magnesia, natural flake graphite with different particle sizes and anti-oxidant were adopted as raw material for preparation of specimens. However, the results show that the physical properties, oxidation resistance and thermal shock resistance of low carbon MgO-C materials with content of 4.0wt% graphite are improved obviously through the use of special and suitable size graphite. The excellent performance achieved was considered as a result of microstructure modification of MgO-C materials. Therefore, it is suggested that both fine and micro grade natural flake graphite used for production of low carbon MgO-C bricks. 展开更多

In this paper,the sintering behavior of diphase β-Sialon and Al2O3/diphase β-Sialon composites has been studied and predicted by using ANN (Artificial Neural Network) method.It is found that relative density is well correlated with phase composition and sintering temperature and that the predicted values by this method are very clos to experimental results.Effectiveness of modeling has been discussed nd analyzed by presenting formulas, This may be the first attempt of applying ANN mthod in the study of refractories science and has indicated that ANN is an efficeint method. 展开更多

The aim of this experimental work was to investigate the Theological and adhesive performance of gunning mix suspensions. The results of rheological tests indicate that: the rheological curve of gunning mix bonded by high-alumina cement (HACG) is Bingham type ; the rheological curve of low cement gunning mix (LCG) bonded by mi-crosilica is characterized by pseudo-plasticity fluid with yielding stress ; and the rheological property of low-cement gunning mix bonded by microsilica is proved to be better than that of gunning mix bonded by cement. Meanwhile as indicated by the adhesive tests: the better the rheological properties of gunning mix suspension , the better the repair effect would be. 展开更多

The complex coating on the MgO CaO clinker was prepared by dipping method and adding the second mineral to restrain the formation and expansion of the cracks. Meanwhile, the microstructure and the morphology of the coating and hydration resistance of the MgO CaO clinker were also investigated. The result shows that the coating consists mainly of Ca 2P 2O 7, MgO and CaCO 3, its thickness ranges from 5μm to 20μm, and the coating is dense and even, no micro cracks are observed. Also, the coating adheres closely to the matrix. The hydration resistance of the MgO CaO clinker after treatment is improved greatly, and the castables prepared with the treated MgO CaO clinker have better physical properties than MgO castable. 展开更多
