In this study, the heat transfer optimization(evaporation)and the specification of the FX-70 zeotropic refrigerant flow inside a corrugated pipe have been investigated.Despite the low HTC(HTC),this type of refrigerant is highly applicable in low or medium temperature engineering systems during the evaporation process. To eliminate this defect, high turbulence and proper mixing are required. Therefore, using heat transfer(HT)augmentation methods will be necessary and effective. In order to find the most favorable operating conditions that lead to the optimum combination of pressure drop(PD)and HTC,empirical data, neural networks, and genetic algorithms(GA)for multi-objective(MO)(NSGA II)are used.To investigate the mentioned cases, the geometric parameters of corrugated pipes, vapor quality, and mass velocity of refrigerant were studied. The results showed that with vapor quality higher than 0.8 and corrugation depth and pitch of 1.5 and 7 mm,respectively,we would achieve the desired optimum design. 展开更多

This is a numerical study of a falling droplet surrounding by air under the electric field modeled with finite volume method by means of CFD.The VOF method has been employed to model the two-phase flow of the present study.Various capillary numbers are investigated to analyze the effects of electric field intensity on the falling droplet deformation. Also, the effects of electric potential on the heat transfer coefficient have been examined. The obtained results showed that by applying the electric field at a capillary number of 0.2 the droplet tends to retain its primitive shape as time goes by,with a subtle deformation to an oblate form.Intensifying the electric field to a capillary number of 0.8 droplet deformation is almost insignificantwith time progressing;however, further enhancement in capillary number to 2 causes the droplet to deform as a prolate shape and higher values of this number intensify the prolate form deformation of the droplet and result in pinch-off phenomenon.Ultimately,it is showed that as the electric potential augments the heat transfer coefficient increases in which for electric potential values higher than 2400 V the heat transfer coefficient enhances significantly. 展开更多

The effects of various surface roughness geometrical properties including roughness height(5%,10%,15%),number(3,6),and shape(rectangular and triangular)on the flow and heat transfer of slip-flow in trapezoidal microchannels were investigated. The effects of mentioned parameters on the heat transfer coefficient through the microchannel, average Nusselt number and pressure drop for Reynolds number of 5,10,15 and 20 were examined. The obtained results showed that increasing the roughness height and number increases the pressure drop due to higher stagnation effects before and after roughness elements and decreases the Nusselt number due to higher recirculation zones effects than obstruction effects. The most reduction in Nusselt number and the most increment in pressure drop occur at the roughness height of 15%,roughness number of 6 and Reynolds number of 20 by about 10.6%and 52.8%than the smooth microchannel respectively. 展开更多
