In this work,some thermodynamic properties of poly(cyclohexyl methacrylate)were studied by inverse gas chromatography(IGC).For this purpose,the polymeric substance was coated on Chromosorb W and which was filled into ...In this work,some thermodynamic properties of poly(cyclohexyl methacrylate)were studied by inverse gas chromatography(IGC).For this purpose,the polymeric substance was coated on Chromosorb W and which was filled into a glass column.The retention times(tr)of the probes were determined from the interactions of poly(cyclohexyl methacrylate)with n-pentane,n-hexane,n-heptane,n-octane,n-decane,methanol,ethanol,2-propanol,butanol,acetone,ethyl methyl ketone,benzene,toluene and o-xylene by IGC technique.Then,the specific volume(V0g)was determined for each probe molecule.By using(1/T;ln V0g)graphics,the glass transition temperature of poly(cyclohexyl methacrylate)was found to be 373 K.The adsorption heat under the glass transition temperature(ΔHa),and partial molar heat of sorption above the glass transition(ΔHS1),partial molar free energy of sorption(ΔGS1)and partial molar entropy of sorption(ΔSS1)belonging to sorption for every probe were calculated.The partial molar heat of mixing at infinite dilution(ΔH∞1),partial molar free energy of mixing at infinite dilution(ΔG∞1),Flory-Huggins interaction parameter(χ∞12)and weight fraction activity coefficient(a1/w1)∞values of polymer-solute systems were calculated at different column temperatures.The solubility parameters(δ2)of the polymer were obtained by IGC technique.展开更多
Schiff base monomers [2-(4-bromobenzylideneamino)phenol and 2-(4-bromobenzylideneamino)-5-methylphenol] were synthesized by the condensation reaction of 4-bromobenzaldehyde with aromatic aminophenols. Then, the mo...Schiff base monomers [2-(4-bromobenzylideneamino)phenol and 2-(4-bromobenzylideneamino)-5-methylphenol] were synthesized by the condensation reaction of 4-bromobenzaldehyde with aromatic aminophenols. Then, the monomers were converted to their polyphenol derivatives by oxidative polycondensation reactions (OP) in an aqueous alkaline medium. The structures of the synthesized compounds were characterized by solubility tests, FT-IR, NMR, TG-DTA, DSC and SEC techniques. The HOMO-LUMO energy levels and electrochemical (E'g) and optical (Eg) band gaps were calculated from cyclic voltammetry (CV) and UV-Vis measurements, respectively. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) was used to determine the electrochemical oxidation-reduction characteristics. Optical properties were investigated by UV-Vis and fluorescence analyses. Solid state electrical conductivities were measured on polymer films by four point probe technique using a Keithley 2400 electrometer. The effects of electron-donating (--CH3) group at p-position of --NH2 group in aminophenol on electrochemical and thermal properties were also discussed. Photoluminescence (PL) properties of the synthesized materials were determined in solution forms using different solvents. Fluorescence measurements were carried out in various concentrated solutions to determine the optimum concentrations to obtain the maximal PL intensities.展开更多

Two series of dialdehydes, namely 2,2'-[1,2-phenylenebis(methyleneoxy)]dibenzaldehyde [2,2'-1,2-(PBMODB)] and 2,2'- [1,4-phenylenebis(methyleneoxy)]dibenzaldehyde [2,2'-I,4-(PBMODB)] were prepared from the condensation reactions of salicylaldehyde with o-xylenedibromide and p-xylenedibromide, respectively. The synthesized Schiff base and its polymer were soluble in alkaline'aqueous medium and they have various colors in different solutions. Also, it can be said that the synthesized compounds are suitable as coloring agent (dyestuff) for textile applications. Fluorescence properties of the compounds were determined in DMF with different concentrations (mg/L). Poly-tris(4- aminophenyl)methanol (P-TAPM) has quite high emission and excitation intensity values. Optical and electrochemical band gaps of the polymers were lower than those of the monomers indicating the more conjugated structure of the polymers. The oxidized states of the novel dyestuff compounds were examined by cyclic voltammetry (CV) technique. The solid state conductivity measurements showed that the synthesized polymers were semiconductors when exposed to the iodine vapour their conductivities could be increased. P-TAPM had the highest undoped conductivity. Thermal characterizations of the synthesized compounds were carried out by TG-DTA and DSC methods.展开更多

The stru...Poly[2-(4-chlorophenyl)-l,3-dioxolan-4-yl]methyl acrylate, poly(CPhDMA), was synthesized with radical polymerization process using 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile as radical initiator in 1,4-dioxane at 60℃. The structure of poly(CPhDMA) was confirmed by means of UV-Vis, FT-IR, 1H-NMR, and 13C-NMR spectral techniques. The molecular weight distribution values of the polymer were determined with gel permeation chromatography (GPC). The number-average molecular weight (Mn), weight-average molecular weight (Mw) and polydispersity index (PDI) values of poly(CPhDMA) were determined to be 10300, 21600 and 2.097, respectively. The thermal degradation kinetics of the polymer was investigated by using TG/DTG-DTA and DSC analyses at different heating rates in dynamic nitrogen atmosphere. The apparent activation energy values obtained by Flynn-Wall-Ozawa and Friedman methods were found to be 91.68 and 85.23 kJ mo1-1, respectively, for thermal decomposition of poly(CPhDMA). Also, the thermal degradation activation energy value of poly(CPhDMA) was calculated by using the Kissinger method based on the DTG, DTA and DSC data. Then the mechanism function of it was determined by master plots method. Finally, electrical and optical properties of poly(CPhDMA) were determined by four-point probe and UV-Vis techniques, respectively.展开更多
