Research shows that, when the ritualized daily practices that actors engage in are disrupted, the reconstitution of ritualized daily activities enables people to cope with or adapt to such situations, i.e., they alleviate the psychological tension and interactional problems caused by such disruptions. Ritualized daily practices help provide meaning, focus, and a sense of stability to social behavior. This article focuses on the ritualized daily practices engaged in by a special group of people in Chinese history, the “Educated Youth.” Using content analysis, this study discusses the composition, significance and function of ritual activities for these individuals.展开更多
