The catalyst layer(CL)is the core component in determining the electrical-thermal-water performance and cost of proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC).Systemic analysis and rapid prediction tools are required to im...The catalyst layer(CL)is the core component in determining the electrical-thermal-water performance and cost of proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC).Systemic analysis and rapid prediction tools are required to improve the design efficiency of CL.In this study,a 3D multi-phase model integrated with the multi-level agglomerate model for CL is developed to describe the heat and mass transfer processes inside PEMFC.Moreover,a research framework combining the response surface method(RSM)and artificial neural network(ANN)model is proposed to conduct a quantitative analysis,and further a rapid and accurate prediction.With the help of this research framework,the effects of CL composition on the electrical-thermal-water performance of PEMFC are investigated.The results show that the mass of platinum,the mass of carbon,and the volume fraction of dry ionomer has a significant impact on the electrical-thermal-water performance.At the selected points,the sensitivity of the decision variables is ranked:volume fraction of dry ionomer>mass of platinum>mass of carbon>agglomerate radius.In particular,the sensitivity of the volume fraction of dry ionomer is over 50%at these points.Besides,the comparison results show that the ANN model could implement a more rapid and accurate prediction than the RSM model based on the same sample set.This in-depth study is beneficial to provide feasible guidance for high-performance CL design.展开更多
Pumpkin polysaccharides(PPe)have a variety of bioactive effects and our previous research showed the acid hydrolysate(PPe-S,a mixture)from PPe had an antioxidative capacity both in vitro and in viro.The aim of this st...Pumpkin polysaccharides(PPe)have a variety of bioactive effects and our previous research showed the acid hydrolysate(PPe-S,a mixture)from PPe had an antioxidative capacity both in vitro and in viro.The aim of this study was to purify PPe-S and investigate the antioxidant stress effects of 2 purified components(PPe-S-1 and PPe-S-2)using Caenorhabditis elegans as model organism.The results showed that PPe-S-2 had a notable antioxidant effect,and could significantly enhance the activities of antioxidant enzymes including superoxide dismutase(SOD)(P<0.01),catalase(CAT)(P<0.01)and glutathione reductase(GR)(P<0.05),and increase the level of glutathione(GSH)(P<0.01),and decreased the content of malondialdehyde(MDA)(P<0.05).PPe-S-2 could significantly extend the survival time of C.elegans(P<0.01),which were stress-induced by hydrogen peroxide and methyl viologen.PPe-S-2 was a heteropolys accharide composed of glucose,arabinose,rhamnose and galactose with the molar ratio of 1.00:0.03:0.02:0.14.The molecular weight of PPe-S-2 was 0.73 kDa detected by high performance liquid chromatography.These studies demonstrated that PPe-S-2 obtained by the acid hydrolysis of PPe had a prominent protective effect to the damage induced by the intracellular free radical generating agents.展开更多

The result shows that the strong convective weather occurred in peripheral subtropical high over west pacific, being caused by short wave disturbance, and surface convergence lines with positive pressure variation are corresponding to areas of short-time heavy precipitation. The degree of temperature change in cold pool caused by thunderstorm may decide the intensity of a short-time rainfall, and local topography plays an important role in extreme precipitation. Local water vapour accumulation and water vapour flux convergence in the middle and lower layers support adequate moisture condition in the process. Moving direction and development direction of mesocale convective cloud are in a line to develop the train effect, leading to local short-time heavy rain in Yulin city, Shaanxi, China.展开更多
AIM: To evaluate the effects of panretinal photocoagulation (PRP) compared with PRP plus intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB) in patients with high-risk proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) according to the Early...AIM: To evaluate the effects of panretinal photocoagulation (PRP) compared with PRP plus intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB) in patients with high-risk proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) according to the Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study criteria.METHODS: The data were collected retrospectively from the eyes of high-risk PDR patients, which were divided into two groups. After treated with standard PRP, the eyes were randomly assigned to receive only PRP (PRP group) or PRP plus intravitreal injection of 1.25 mg of bevacizumab (PRP-Plus group). Patients underwent complete ophthalmic evaluation, including best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), intraocular pressure (IOP), and new vessel size in fluorescein angiography (FA) and optical coherence tomography for the assessment of central subfield macular thickness (CSMT) at baseline and at weeks 12 (±2), 16 (±2), 24 (±2) and 48 (±2). Main outcome measures also included vitreous clear-up time and neovascularization on the disc (NVD) regression time. Adverse events associated with intravitreal injection were investigated.RESULTS: Thirty consecutive patients (n=36 eyes) completed the 48-week follow-up. There was no significant difference between the PRP and PRP-Plus groups with respect to age, gender, type or duration of diabetes, area of fluorescein leakage from active neovascularizations (NVs), BCVA or CSMT at baseline. The mean vitreous clear-up time was 12.1±3.4wk after PRP and 8.4±3.5wk after PRP combined with IVB. The mean time interval from treatment to complete NVD regression on FA examination was 15.2±3.5wk in PRP group and 12.5±3.1wk in PRP-Plus group. No significant difference in CSMT was observed between the groups throughout the study period. However, the total area of actively leaking NVs was significantly reduced in the PRP-Plus group compared with the PRP group (P〈0.05). Patients received an average of 1.3 injections (range: 1-2). Ten eyes (27.8%) underwent 2 injections. Two eyes had ocular complication of PDR progression to dense vitreous hemorrhage (VH). No major adverse events were identified.CONCLUSION: The adjunctive use of IVB with PRP is associated with a greater reduction in the area of active leaking NVs than PRP alone in patients with high-risk PDR. Short-term results suggest combined IVB and PRP achieved rapid clearance of VH and regression of retinal NV in the treatment of high-risk PDR. Further studies are needed to determine the effect of repeated intravitreal bevacizumab injections and the proper number of bevacizumab injections as an adjuvant.展开更多

METHODS:PubMed,EMBASE,Cochrane Library,and Science Citation Index databases up to March 2014 were searched. The primary outcome was incidence of post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP) pancreatitis(PEP) and successful stent insertion rate. The secondary outcomes were the incidence of post-ERCP bleeding,stent migration and occlusion. The free software Review Manager was used to perform the meta-analysis.RESULTS:Three studies(n=338 patients,170 in the EST group and 168 in the non-EST group)were included.All three studies described a comparison of baseline patient characteristics and showed that there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups.Three RCTs,including 338 patients,were included in this meta-analysis.Most of the analyzed outcomes were similar between the groups.Although EST reduced the incidence of PEP,it also led to a higher incidence of post-ERCP bleeding(OR=0.34,95%CI:0.12-0.93,P=0.04;OR=9.70,95%CI:1.21-77.75,P=0.03,respectively).CONCLUSION:EST before stent placement may be useful in reducing the incidence of PEP.However,ESTrelated complications,such as bleeding and perforation,may offset this effect.展开更多

METHODS: In this hospital-based retrospective study, a total of 350 in-patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were recruited and their clinical records were reviewed. Thereafter, 52 patients identified with severe non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy(NPDR) combined with albuminuria were divided into the microalbuminuria(UAE 30-300 mg/24 h) and macroalbuminuria(UAE>300 mg/24 h) groups, which were compared and analyzed by both independent sample t-test and Chi-square test. Correlations between the systemic variables and the central foveal thickness(CFT) were evaluated using Spearman’s correlation and linear regression analyses. Of the 52 patients with centerinvolved DME, 43 received an initial combined injection of conbercept(0.5 mg/0.05 mL) and triamcinolone acetonide(1 mg/0.05 mL), followed by an IVC injection, as needed. The relationship between baseline UAE and number of IVCinjections during the first year of treatment was analyzed using Spearman’s partial correlation.RESULTS: Of 350 patients, a higher incidence of DME was observed in severe non-proliferative retinopathy(NPDR) patients than that observed in other groups. By dividing the 52 patients with severe NPDR into the micro-and macro-albuminuria subgroups, significant differences in CFT, systolic blood pressure, total cholesterol and serum creatinine levels, and UAE were revealed. Furthermore, a positive liner correlation between the UAE and CFT was found. Finally, the partial correlation coefficient adjusted for either the CFT or UAE indicated that both parameters directly correlated with the number of IVC injections administered during the 12 mo of follow-up. CONCLUSION: Generally, macular edema occurred in patients with severe NPDR, for whom the UAE is an independent risk predictor of DME. The baseline UAE and CFT predicted the treatment frequency of IVC injections administered in the first year for eyes with DME.展开更多
