Each image (stone 石头, memory 记忆) builds on the trace of its predecessor. The poem's lyricism reflects the organicity of language that self-generates, one image climbing atop the next. Sensorial interplay layers aurality and visuality in ways that foreground absence. The refrain of the lines quoted above ("without memory") counter-acts the trace of historical existence. These timeless echoes without remembrance lead, nonetheless, to a "here" in the seventh line. 展开更多
