BACKGROUND While tuberculosis(TB)itself is a common disease,isolated TB of the liver is a rare entity.Tubercular involvement of the liver is more commonly a part of a disseminated disease of the hepatic parenchyma.In ...BACKGROUND While tuberculosis(TB)itself is a common disease,isolated TB of the liver is a rare entity.Tubercular involvement of the liver is more commonly a part of a disseminated disease of the hepatic parenchyma.In contrast,isolated hepatic TB spread through the portal vein from the gastrointestinal tract is seldom encountered in clinical practice,with only a few sporadic cases and short series available in the current literature.Vascular complications,such as portal vein thrombosis(PVT),have rarely been reported previously.CASE SUMMARY A 22-year-old man was hospitalized with complaints of a 3-mo history of fever and weight loss of approximately 10 kg.He had a 10-year hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection in his medical history.Contrast-enhanced computed tomography(CECT)confirmed hepatosplenomegaly,with hypodensity of the right lobe of the liver and 2.1 cm thrombosis of the right branch of the portal vein.A liver biopsy showed epithelioid granulomas with a background of caseating necrosis.ZiehlNelson staining showed acid-fast bacilli within the granulomas.The patient was diagnosed with isolated hepatic TB with PVT.Anti-TB therapy(ATT),including isoniazid,rifapentine,ethambutol,and pyrazinamide,was administered.Along with ATT,the patient was treated with entecavir as an antiviral medication against HBV and dabigatran as an anticoagulant.He remained asymptomatic,and follow-up sonography of the abdomen at 4 mo showed complete resolution of the PVT.CONCLUSION Upon diagnosis of hepatic TB associated with PVT and HBV coinfection,ATT and anticoagulants should be initiated to prevent subsequent portal hypertension.Antiviral therapy against HBV should also be administered to prevent severe hepatic injury.展开更多
In recent years,there have been many studies on the recognition of strawberry maturity,but there are still problems such as low recognition accuracy and expensive experimental instruments.These factors make their meth...In recent years,there have been many studies on the recognition of strawberry maturity,but there are still problems such as low recognition accuracy and expensive experimental instruments.These factors make their methods difficult for farmers to use.To solve these problems,we developed a fast,non-destructive,accurate and convenient method for strawberry maturity identification using smartphones.In this paper,strawberry maturity is divided into three levels:mature,nearly-mature and immature.Considering the actual strawberry harvest process and postharvest handling,we focus on the differentiation between the mature and the nearly-mature ones to help farmers reduce possible damage in transit and improve profitability.We obtained the images of strawberries with different maturities at 535 nm and 670 nm wavelengths through a smartphone and got absorbance data by image processing based on the region of interest.The absorbance data were used to establish three maturity recognition models—i.e.,multivariate linear,multivariate nonlinear and SoftMax regression classifier.The results showed that the multivariate nonlinear model had the highest identification accuracy(which is over 94%)in the greenhouse.Therefore,this method has considerable potential as a means for rapid recognition of strawberry maturity.展开更多
Introduction:Genital herpes is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections worldwide.Most genital herpes occur on the genitalia,perineum,buttocks,upper thighs,or perianal areas.However,there were reports of...Introduction:Genital herpes is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections worldwide.Most genital herpes occur on the genitalia,perineum,buttocks,upper thighs,or perianal areas.However,there were reports of rare cases of genital herpes on urethral orifice.Case presentation:A 53-year-old woman presented with vagina pruritus at first,with subsequent burning sensation around urethra.Mycostatin and mycospor were administered for the treatment of the pruritus.Then levofloxacin was prescribed.Finally,the patient was given treatment with acyclovir.Different from other cases,the investigation showed herpes simplex virus type 1 DNA positive and herpes simplex virus type 2 DNA negative by PCR.The patient was therefore diagnosed with genital herpes.Discussion:Most genital herpes happen on the genitalia,perineum,buttocks,upper thighs,or perianal areas.Few cases have been reported that genital herpes occurred on urethral orifice till now.Conclusion:If there is no typical symptoms that patient present with herpes simplex virus type 1 or 2 positive,urethral orifice genital herpes should be considered.展开更多
