The association between meteorological factors and infectious diarrhea has been widely studied in many countries.However,investigation among children under 5 years old in Jiangsu,China remains quite limited.Data inclu...The association between meteorological factors and infectious diarrhea has been widely studied in many countries.However,investigation among children under 5 years old in Jiangsu,China remains quite limited.Data including infectious diarrhea cases among children under five years old and daily meteorological indexes in Jiangsu,China from 2015 to 2019 were collected.The lag-effects up to 21 days of daily maximum temperature(Tmax)on infectious diarrhea were explored using a quasi-Poisson regression with a distributed lag non-linear model(DLNM)approach.The cases number of infectious diarrhea was significantly associated with seasonal variation of meteorological factors,and the burden of disease mainly occurred among children aged 0-2 years old.Moreover,when the reference value was set at 16.7°C,Tmax had a significant lag-effect on cases of infectious diarrhea among children under 5 years old in Jiangsu Province,which was increased remarkably in cold weather with the highest risk at 8℃.The results of DLNM analysis implicated that the lag-effect of Tmax varied among the 13 cities in Jiangsu and had significant differences in 8 cities.The highest risk of Tmax was presented at 5 lag days in Huaian with a maximum RR of 1.18(95% CI:1.09,1.29).Suzhou which had the highest number of diarrhea cases(15830 cases),had a maximum RR of 1.04(95%CI:1.03,1.05)on lag 15 days.Tmax is a considerable indicator to predict the epidemic of infectious diarrhea among 13 cities in Jiangsu,which reminds us that in cold seasons,more preventive strategies and measures should be done to prevent infectious diarrhea.展开更多

One such cue, photoperiod, plays an important role in the seasonal acclimatization of birds. It has been demonstrated that an animal's body mass, basal metabolic rate (BMR), and energy intake, are all affected by photoperiod. The present study was designed to examine photoperiod induced changes in the body mass, metabolism and metabolic organs of the silky starling, Stumus sericeus. Captive silky starlings increased their body mass and BMR during four weeks of acclimation to a short photoperiod. Birds acclimated to a short photopedod also increased the mass of certain organs (liver, gizzard and small intestine), and both gross energy intake (GEl) and digestible energy intake (DEI), relative to those acclimated to a long photoperiod. Furthermore, BMR was positively correlated with body mass, liver mass, GEl and DEI. These results suggest that silky starlings increase metabolic thermogenesis when exposed to a short photoperiod by increasing their body and metabolic organ mass, and their GEl and DEI. These findings support the hypothesis that bird species from temperate climates typically display high phenotypic flexibility in thermogenic capacity.展开更多
Objective:To explore the effect differences between moxibustion and donepezil hydrochloride on the attention network function of patients with mild cognitive impairment(MCI).Methods:A total of 64 patients of MCI were ...Objective:To explore the effect differences between moxibustion and donepezil hydrochloride on the attention network function of patients with mild cognitive impairment(MCI).Methods:A total of 64 patients of MCI were randomly divided into the moxibustion group and donepezil hydrochloride group,32 cases in each one.On the basis of conventional treatment,the patients in the moxibustion group were given moxibustion,6 times a week,and the patients in the donepezil hydrochloride group were given donepezil hydrochloride orally,5 mg/day.The course of treatment was 60 days for both of the groups.Cognitive attention network function and activities of daily living(ADL)score were examined before and after treatment.Results:The differences of alerting reaction time(RT),executive control RT,overall mean RT and accuracy of the moxibustion group after treatment were significantly higher than those of the donepezil hydrochloride group[alert:(60.3±3.3)ms vs(48.3±3.7)ms,P<0.05;executive control:(81.2±3.2)ms vs(91.7±4.2)ms,P<0.05;total reaction time:(500.4±17.2)ms vs(536.2±20.1)ms.P<0.05;accuracy:(83.7±4.6)%vs(77.4±4.3)%,P<0.05].After treatment,the ADL scores of the both groups were significantly higher than those before treatment[the moxibustion group:(56.47±4.02)points vs(41.53±4.06)points,P<0.05;the donepezil hydrochloride group:(50.75±4.05)points vs(40.84±3.67)points,P<0.05],and the ADL score of the moxibustion group was significantly higher than that of the donepezil hydrochloride group[(56.47±4.02)points vs(50.75±4.05)points,P<0.05].Conclusion:Compared with donepezil hydrochloride,moxibustion has a better effect on the cognitive function of MCI patients.展开更多
A new chelating resin (CPS-DMA-SABA) was synthesized with the chloromethylated crossqinked polystyrene porous beads (CPS) as raw materials, which were bonded with salicylidene-o-aminobenzoic acid (SABA) on the s...A new chelating resin (CPS-DMA-SABA) was synthesized with the chloromethylated crossqinked polystyrene porous beads (CPS) as raw materials, which were bonded with salicylidene-o-aminobenzoic acid (SABA) on the surface via a quaternary ammonium unit as a linker. The results showed that CPS-DMA-SABA would easily change into a zwitterionic chelating resin (CPS-DMA-SABZ) when washed with distilled water. CPS-DMA-SABA was characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectra and thermo-gravimetric analysis. The ion sorption capacities of CPS-DMA-SABA were found to be 1916 μg/g for Zn2+ withpH at 4.5, 1620μg/g for Cu2+ with pH at 6.2, 1291 μg/g for Ni2+ withpH at 6.6 and 780 μg/g for Cr3+ withpH at 5.5, respectively. The experiments showed CPS-DMA-SABA also changed its color when meeting with the metal ion in the aqueous solution. As a consequence, CPS-DMA-SABA can not only be used as a solid phase extractant but also an indicator for confirming the heavy metal ion in solutions.展开更多
Background:Mounting evidence,consistent with our previous study,showed thatγ-aminobutyric acid type A receptor(GABAAR)played an indispensable role in airway inflammation and mucus hypersecretion in asthma.Monocyte ch...Background:Mounting evidence,consistent with our previous study,showed thatγ-aminobutyric acid type A receptor(GABAAR)played an indispensable role in airway inflammation and mucus hypersecretion in asthma.Monocyte chemotactic protein-inducing protein 1(MCPIP1)was a key negative regulator of inflammation.Recent studies showed that inflammation was largely suppressed by enhanced MCPIP1 expression in many inflammatory diseases.However,the role and potential mechanism of MCPIP1 in airway inflammation and mucus hypersecretion in asthma were still not well studied.This study was to explore the role of MCPIP1 in asthmatic airway inflammation and mucus hypersecretion in both mice and BEAS-2B cells,and its potential mechanism.Methods:In vivo,mice were sensitized and challenged by ovalbumin(OVA)to induce asthma.Airway inflammation and mucus secretion were analyzed.In vitro,BEAS-2B cells were chosen.Interleukin(IL)-13 was used to stimulate inflammation and mucus hypersecretion in cells.MCPIP1 Lentiviral vector(LA-MCPIP1)and plasmid-MCPIP1 were used to up-regulate MCPIP1 in lung and cells,respectively.MCP-1,thymic stromal lymphopoietin(TSLP),mucin 5AC(MUC5AC),MCPIP1,and GABAARβ2 expressions were measured in both lung and BEAS-2B cells.Immunofluorescence staining was performed to observe the expression of GABAARβ2 in cells.Results:MCPIP1 was up-regulated by LA-MCPIP1(P<0.001)and plasmid-MCPIP1(P<0.001)in lung and cells,respectively.OVA-induced airway inflammation and mucus hypersecretion,OVA-enhanced MCP-1,TSLP,MUC5AC,and GABAARβ2 expressions,and OVA-reduced MCPIP1 were significantly blunted by LA-MCPIP1 in mice(all P<0.001).IL-13-enhanced MCP-1,TSLP,MUC5AC,and GABAARβ2 expressions,and IL-13-reduced MCPIP1 were markedly abrogated by plasmid-MCPIP1 in BEAS-2B cells(all P<0.001).Conclusion:The results of this study suggested that OVA and IL-13-induced airway inflammation and mucus hypersecretion were negatively regulated by MCPIP1 in both lung and BEAS-2B cells,involving GABAAR signaling pathway.展开更多

The addition of the Re element not only enhances the long-term creep properties of nickel-based SC s...The microstructure of nickel-based single-crystal(SC) superalloys has a pivotal influence on their creep properties. The addition of the Re element not only enhances the long-term creep properties of nickel-based SC superalloys, but also results in the formation of a topologically close-packed(TCP) phase which is a harmful and brittle hard phase. Here, high-temperature creep interruption tests of a nickel-based SC superalloy that contains4.8 wt% Re were performed under various temperatures and stress conditions, and the evolution of microstructure during creep was observed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The volume fraction of the TCP phase was also extracted to explore the mechanism that controls the impacts of the TCP phase on the creep properties.According to the microstructure evolution mechanism, the influence of the TCP phase was attributed to the initial damage and critical shear stress of the material. A creep performance prediction model for nickel-based SC superalloys considering the precipitation of the TCP phase that is based on the crystal plasticity theory and a modified creep damage model was established. The simulation curves fit well with the experimental results and the errors between prediction creep life with test results are within 5%.展开更多

On January 22, 2014, a 57-year-old man with a history of rheumatoid arthritis was admitted to the hospital complaining of dyspnea and fever. Infection with influenza A (H7N9) virus was confirmed from a tracheal aspirate sample using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays. Hypoxemia led to non-invasive mechanical ventilation on the first day. Methylprednisolone (80 mg intravenous every 24 hours) and oseltamivir were administered starting from the first day. On day 11, otalgia and secretion of yellow exudate was associated with a swollen right external auditory canal. Four days later, a vesicular rash developed at the right earcanal and pinna.
