Camera networks are essential to constructing fast and accurate mapping between virtual and physical space for digital twin.In this paper,with the aim of developing energy-efficient digital twin in 6G,we investigate r...Camera networks are essential to constructing fast and accurate mapping between virtual and physical space for digital twin.In this paper,with the aim of developing energy-efficient digital twin in 6G,we investigate real-time video analytics based on cameras mounted on mobile devices with edge coordination.This problem is challenging because 1)mobile devices are with limited battery life and lightweight computation capability,and 2)the captured video frames of mobile devices are continuous changing,which makes the corresponding tasks arrival uncertain.To achieve energy-efficient video analytics in digital twin,by taking energy consumption,analytics accuracy,and latency into consideration,we formulate a deep reinforcement learning based mobile device and edge coordination video analytics framework,which can utilized digital twin models to achieve joint offloading decision and configuration selection.The edge nodes help to collect the information on network topology and task arrival.Extensive simulation results demonstrate that our proposed framework outperforms the benchmarks on accuracy improvement and energy and latency reduction.展开更多
This paper uses a cross-temporal meta-analysis to summarize information about the ideal number of children,gender composition,and timing of childbirths during the years 1980-2015 in China.This allows a comparison betw...This paper uses a cross-temporal meta-analysis to summarize information about the ideal number of children,gender composition,and timing of childbirths during the years 1980-2015 in China.This allows a comparison between ideas about the ideal number of children and actual childbearing behavior.The results show that fertility and the ideal number of children both decreased,but that fertility was higher than the ideal number of children before 1990,and that fertility was lower than the ideal number of children thereafter.Gender preference weakened;however,the preference for sons decreased slowly.The timing of childbearing became significantly later over the study period,while the ideal age of childbearing remained relatively stable.The findings provide evidence to aid understanding of the changes in childbearing in China.展开更多
Background:Traumatic brain injury,one of the leading causes of death in adults under 40 years of age in the world,is frequently caused by mechanical shock,resulting in diffuse neuronal damage and long-term cognitive d...Background:Traumatic brain injury,one of the leading causes of death in adults under 40 years of age in the world,is frequently caused by mechanical shock,resulting in diffuse neuronal damage and long-term cognitive dysfunction.Many existing TBI animal models revival with expensive equipment or special room are needed or the processes of operations are complex and not easy to be widely used.Therefore,a simpler TBI model needs to be designed.Methods:Our TBI model is an innovation of the modeling method through air guns shutting rubber bullets.A core facet is the application of our designed rubber bullet impact device.It could focus the hitting power to the fixed site of the brain,thus triggering a mild closed head injury.Moreover,the degree of damage can be adjusted by the times of shots.Results:Our model induced blood-brain barrier leakage and diffused neuronal damage.Besides,it led to an increased level of Tau phosphorylation and resulted in cognitive dysfunction within several weeks post-injury.Conclusion:Our TBI model is not only simple and time-saving but also can simulate mild brain injuries in clinical.It is suitable for exploring pathobiological mechanisms as well as a screening of potential therapies for TBI.展开更多
The health disparity associated with gender has raised attention on the rampant health inequity issues in China.This gender-health disparity is further complicated by the contrasting evidence in several substantive de...The health disparity associated with gender has raised attention on the rampant health inequity issues in China.This gender-health disparity is further complicated by the contrasting evidence in several substantive demographic phenomena such as the female survival paradox and female morbidity paradox.The current study pro-poses a theoretical model to reveal the counterbalancing mechanisms contributing to gender-health disparity in China.Specifically,health behaviors and labor market disadvantages are two sets of counterbalancing factors that,when considered alto-gether,reveal the true extent of gender-health disparity.Using a 2020 survey in the poverty counties in two provinces of China,the current study investigates the coun-terbalancing mechanisms in gender-health disparity through mediation and suppres-sion effects.With painful feeling and the number of chronic illnesses as depend-ent variables,this study showed that health behaviors and labor disadvantages are indeed counterbalancing mechanisms.The gender disparity in pain/chronic ill-nesses disappeared after labor disadvantages were controlled for,but reemerged in greater magnitude after health behaviors were controlled were.For chronic illnesses,the previously non-existent gender disparity emerged after health behaviors were controlled for.Were it not for women’s salubrious health behaviors,they would suf-fer worse pain and chronic illnesses than men’s.This study informs the literature of the hidden counterbalancing mechanisms in gender-health disparity,and women’s inferior position in formal and informal labor domains blocks the goal of eradicating health inequity in China.展开更多
