Background The correlation between cognitive function and lipid profiles,including total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)and triglycerides,is inconsist...Background The correlation between cognitive function and lipid profiles,including total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)and triglycerides,is inconsistent.Aims This cross-sectional study investigated the association between serum lipid levels and the prevalence of cognitive impairment among community-dwelling older adults and explored this difference in association by gender and urban-rural residency.Methods Participants aged 65 and above in urban and rural areas were recruited between 2018 and 2020,selected from the Hubei Memory and Aging Cohort Study.Detailed neuropsychological evaluations,clinical examinations and laboratory tests were conducted in community health service centres.Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyse the correlation between serum lipid profiles and the prevalence of cognitive impairment.Results We identified 1336 cognitively impaired adults(≥65 years)-1066 with mild cognitive impairment and 270 with dementia-from 4746 participants.Triglycerides level was correlated with cognitive impairment in the total sample(χ2=6.420,p=0.011).In gender-stratified multivariate analysis,high triglycerides in males reduced the risk of cognitive impairment(OR:0.785,95%CI:0.623 to 0.989,p=0.040),and high LDL-C in females increased the risk of cognitive impairment(OR:1.282,95%CI:1.040 to 1.581,p=0.020).In both gender-stratified and urban-rural stratified multivariate analyses,high triglycerides reduced the risk of cognitive impairment in older urban men(OR:0.734,95%CI:0.551 to 0.977,p=0.034),and high LDL-C increased the risk of cognitive impairment in older rural women(OR:1.830,95%CI:1.119 to 2.991,p=0.016).Conclusions There are gender and urban-rural differences in the correlation of serum lipids with cognitive impairment.High triglycerides levels may be a protective factor for cognitive function in older urban men,while high LDL-C levels may be a risk factor for cognitive function in older rural women.展开更多

background Substantial variations in the prevalence of mild cognitive impairment(MCI)and its subtypes have been reported,although mostly in geographically defined developed countries and regions.Less is known about MC...background Substantial variations in the prevalence of mild cognitive impairment(MCI)and its subtypes have been reported,although mostly in geographically defined developed countries and regions.Less is known about MCI and its subtypes in rural areas of less developed central China.Aims The study aimed to compare the prevalence of MCI and its subtypes in residents aged 65 years or older in urban and rural areas of Hubei Province,China.Methods Participants aged 65 years or older were recruited between 2018 and 2019.Inperson structured interviews and clinical and neuropsychological assessments were performed at city health community centres and township hospitals.results Among 2644 participants without dementia,735 had MCI,resulting in a prevalence of 27.8%for total MCI,20.9%for amnestic MCI(aMCI)and 6.9%for non-amnestic MCI(naMCI).The prevalence of MCI in urban and rural areas was 20.2%and 44.1%,respectively.After adjusting for demographic factors,the prevalence of total MCI,aMCI and naMCI differed significantly between rural and urban areas(adjusted odds ratio(OR)2.10,1.44 and 3.76,respectively).Subgroup analysis revealed an association between rural socioeconomic and lifestyle disadvantage and MCI and its subtypes.Conclusions Our findings suggest that the prevalence of MCI among urban residents in central China is consistent with that in other metropolis areas,such as Shanghai,but the prevalence in rural areas is twice that in urban areas.Prospective studies and dementia prevention in China should focus on rural areas.展开更多

Introducing a magnetic-field gradient into an electrically driven chemical reaction is expected to give rise to intriguing research possibilities.In this work,we elaborate on the modes and mechanisms of electrocatalyt...Introducing a magnetic-field gradient into an electrically driven chemical reaction is expected to give rise to intriguing research possibilities.In this work,we elaborate on the modes and mechanisms of electrocatalytic activity(from the perspective of alignment of magnetic moments)and selectivity(at the molecular level)for the CO_(2)reduction reaction in response to external magnetic fields.We establish a positive correlation between magnetic field strengths and apparent current densities.This correlation can be rationalized by the formation of longer-range ordering ofmagnetic moments and the resulting decrease in the scattering of conduction electrons and charge-transfer resistances as the field strength increases.Furthermore,aided by the magnetic-field-equipped operando infrared spectroscopy,we find that applied magnetic fields are capable of weakening the C–O bond strength of the key intermediate*COOH and elongating the C–O bond length,thereby increasing the faradaic efficiency for the electroreduction of CO_(2)to CO.展开更多

In addition, ports and inland logistics providers are generally independent of each other and difficult to work together, whic...The adverse impact of the outbreak of COVID-19 has reduced ports’ operational efficiency. In addition, ports and inland logistics providers are generally independent of each other and difficult to work together, which leads to time loss. Thus, as the core player, ports can integrate with inland logistics providers to improve the efficiency and resilience of maritime supply chains. This study examines the strategic options of two competing maritime supply chains consisting of ports and inland logistics providers. We investigate the impact of cooperation between ports and inland logistics providers and government regulation on the maritime supply chain by comparing members’ optimal pricing and overall social welfare under centralized, decentralized, and hybrid scenarios. Results indicate that the hybrid scenario is an equilibrium strategy for maritime supply chain, although this strategy is not optimal for governments seeking to improve supply chain resilience and maximize social welfare. Furthermore, observations show that through government economic intervention, both seaborne supplies can be incentivized to adopt an integrated strategy, and business and society can achieve a win–win situation.展开更多
Quantum stochastic phase estimation has many applications in the precise measurement of various physical parameters.Similar to the estimation of a constant phase,there is a standard quantum limit for stochastic phase ...Quantum stochastic phase estimation has many applications in the precise measurement of various physical parameters.Similar to the estimation of a constant phase,there is a standard quantum limit for stochastic phase estimation,which can be obtained with the Mach-Zehnder interferometer and coherent input state.Recently,it has been shown that the stochastic standard quantum limit can be surpassed with nonclassical resources such as squcezed light.However,practical methods to achieve quantum enhancement in the stochastic phase estimation remain largely unexplored.Here we propose a method utilizing the SU(1,1)interferometer and coherent input states to cstimate a stochastic optical phase.As an example,we investigate the Ornstcin-Uhlenback stochastic phase.We analyze the performance of this method for three key estimation problems:prediction,tracking,and smoothing.The results show significant reduction of the mean square error compared with the Mach-Zehnder interferometer under the same photon number flux inside the interferometers.In particular,we show that the method with the SU(1,1)interferometer can achieve fundamental quantum scaling,achieve stochastic Heisenberg scalinga and surpass the precision of the canonical measurement.展开更多
