BACKGROUND Gut microbiota dysbiosis is reportedly actively involved in autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM).However,the alterations in the gut microbiota and their correlation with fasting blood ...BACKGROUND Gut microbiota dysbiosis is reportedly actively involved in autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM).However,the alterations in the gut microbiota and their correlation with fasting blood glucose(FBG)in Chinese children with T1DM remain unclear.AIM To investigate alterations in the gut microbiota in Chinese children with T1DM and their associations with clinical indicators.METHODS Samples from 51 children with T1DM and 47 age-matched and gender-matched healthy controls were obtained,to explore the structural and functional alterations in the fecal microbiota.The V3-V4 regions of the 16S rRNA gene were sequenced on a MiSeq instrument,and the association with FBG were analyzed.RESULTS We found that the bacterial diversity was significantly increased in the T1DMassociated fecal microbiota,and changes in the microbial composition were observed at different taxonomic levels.The T1DM-reduced differential taxa,such as Bacteroides vulgatus ATCC8482,Bacteroides ovatus,Bacteroides xylanisolvens,and Flavonifractor plautii,were negatively correlated with FBG,while the T1DMenriched taxa,such as Blautia,Eubacterium hallii group,Anaerostipes hadrus,and Dorea longicatena,were positively correlated with FBG.Bacteroides vulgatus ATCC8482,Bacteroides ovatus,the Eubacterium hallii group,and Anaerostipes hadrus,either alone or in combination,could be used as noninvasive diagnostic biomarkers to discriminate children with T1DM from healthy controls.In addition,the functional changes in the T1DM-associated fecal microbiota also suggest that these fecal microbes were associated with altered functions and metabolic activities,such as glycan biosynthesis and metabolism and lipid metabolism,which might play vital roles in the pathogenesis and development of T1DM.CONCLUSION Our present comprehensive investigation of the T1DM-associated fecal microbiota provides novel insights into the pathogenesis of the disease and sheds light on the diagnosis and treatment of T1DM.展开更多
BACKGROUND Early diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma may help to ensure that patients have a chance for long-term survival;however,currently available biomarkers lack sensitivity and specificity.AIM To characterize ...BACKGROUND Early diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma may help to ensure that patients have a chance for long-term survival;however,currently available biomarkers lack sensitivity and specificity.AIM To characterize the serum metabolome of hepatocellular carcinoma in order to develop a new metabolomics diagnostic model and identifying novel biomarkers for screening hepatocellular carcinoma based on the pattern recognition method.METHODS Ultra-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy was used to characterize the serum metabolome of hepatocellular carcinoma(n=30)and cirrhosis(n=29)patients,followed by sequential feature selection combined with linear discriminant analysis to process the multivariate data.RESULTS The concentrations of most metabolites,including proline,were lower in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma,whereas the hydroxypurine levels were higher in these patients.As ordinary analysis models failed to discriminate hepatocellular carcinoma from cirrhosis,pattern recognition analysis was used to establish a pattern recognition model that included hydroxypurine and proline.The leaveone-out cross-validation accuracy and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve analysis were 95.00%and 0.90[95%Confidence Interval(CI):0.81-0.99]for the training set,respectively,and 78.95%and 0.84(95%CI:0.67-1.00)for the validation set,respectively.In contrast,forα-fetoprotein,the accuracy and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve were 65.00%and 0.69(95%CI:0.52-0.86)for the training set,respectively,and 68.42%and 0.68(95%CI:0.41-0.94)for the validation set,respectively.The Z test revealed that the area under the curve of the linear discriminant analysis model was significantly higher than the area under the curve ofα-fetoprotein(P<0.05)in both the training and validation sets.CONCLUSION Hydroxypurine and proline might be novel biomarkers for hepatocellular carcinoma,and this disease could be diagnosed by the metabolomics model based on pattern recognition.展开更多
This paper mainly was based on the average temperature,precipitation,humidity,and wind direction of Gangcha county from 1960 to 2013.By using wavelet analysis and Mann-Kendall(M-K)mutation analysis,specifically analyz...This paper mainly was based on the average temperature,precipitation,humidity,and wind direction of Gangcha county from 1960 to 2013.By using wavelet analysis and Mann-Kendall(M-K)mutation analysis,specifically analyzed the climate change characteristics in the lake basin area of Gangcha county.The result showed that the climatic change in the lake basin area of Gangcha county is noticeable.The average temperature,average minimum temperature,average maximum temperature,and evaporation showed an increasing trend.But the evaporation in the study area was higher than precipitation.The average relative humidity showed a decreasing trend.And the sunshine and the average wind speed percentage showed a significant decreasing trend.Utilizing the Morelet wavelet,The time series of annual mean temperature,annual evaporation and annual sunshine percentage all have quasi3a and quasi4A periods,and the annual mean precipitation has quasi2–3A,quasi2–5A and quasi2–6A periods,which appear in 1996–2005,1962–1978 and 1978–1996 respectively.The mean annual relative humidity has obvious quasi2–7A and quasi3A time series,which appear from 1960 to 1996,1997 to 2005 and after 2008,respectively.The annual mean wind speed has quasi3–4A and quasi5A time series characteristics,which appear in 1964–1967,1984–1995,after 2009 and 1971–1983,respectively.Through Mann-Kendall(M-K)mutation analysis,it is found that the mutations of evaporation and the average speed of wind are significant.The mutation of evaporation started in 2004,and the mutation of average started in 2003.展开更多

Saline water electrolysis is an appealing strategy for hydrogen production,attracting more attention in recent years.NiFe-based electrodes exhibit promise as catalysts for saline water electrolysis.Nevertheless,they s...Saline water electrolysis is an appealing strategy for hydrogen production,attracting more attention in recent years.NiFe-based electrodes exhibit promise as catalysts for saline water electrolysis.Nevertheless,they suffer from the inferior service life of the oxygen evolution reaction(OER).Herein,we report an oxygen-evolution electrode consisting of a sulfate-modulated nickel-iron hydroxide(NiFeOOH)affording as the catalytic active layer and Fe-Ni_(3)S_(2) as the corrosion-proof layer.The developed electrode only requires overpotentials of 220 and 292 mV to deliver the current density of 10 and 500 mA·cm^(−2),respectively.More importantly,it presents long-term stability exceeding 140 and 100 h in 1 M KOH at high current densities of 500 and 1000 mA·cm^(−2),respectively,as well as 120 h for saline water electrolysis at 100 mA·cm^(−2).Experimental results reveal that the generated sulfate plays an indispensable role in improving stability and corrosion resistance.We assembled and tested an anion exchange membrane electrolyzer with Pt/C and NiFeS/NIF as the cathode and anode,respectively,under industrial conditions.This overall water-splitting electrolyzer achieves an impressive energy conversion efficiency of 75%±0.5%.This report offers fresh insights into the design of stable NiFe-based electrodes,which may further promote its practical applications for saline water electrolysis.展开更多
The Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope(FAST)has the largest aperture and a 19-beam L-band receiver,making it powerful for investigating the neutral hydrogen atomic gas(HI)in the universe.We present ...The Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope(FAST)has the largest aperture and a 19-beam L-band receiver,making it powerful for investigating the neutral hydrogen atomic gas(HI)in the universe.We present HiFAST(https://hifast.readthedocs.io),a dedicated,modular,and self-contained calibration and imaging pipeline for processing the H?data of FAST.The pipeline consists of frequency-dependent noise diode calibration,baseline fitting,standing wave removal using an FFT-based method,flux density calibration,stray radiation correction,and gridding to produce data cubes.These modules can be combined as needed to process the data from most FAST observation modes:tracking,drift scanning,On-The-Fly mapping,and most of their variants.With HiFAST,the root-mean-square(RMS)noises of the calibrated spectra from all 19 beams were only slightly(~5%)higher than the theoretical expectation.The results for the extended source M33 and the point sources are consistent with the results from Arecibo.The moment maps(0,1 and 2)of M33 agree well with the results from the Arecibo Galaxy Environment Survey(AGES)with a fractional difference of less than 10%.For a common sample of 221 sources with signal-to-noise ratio S/N>10 from the Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA(ALFALFA)survey,the mean value of fractional difference in the integrated flux density,Sint,between the two datasets is approximately 0.005%,with a dispersion of 15.4%.Further checks on the integrated flux density of 23 sources with seven observations indicate that the variance in the flux density of the source with luminous objects(Sint>2.5 Jy km s-1)is less than 5%.Our tests suggest that the FAST telescope,with the efficient,precise,and user-friendly pipeline HiFAST,will yield numerous significant scientific findings in the investigation of the H?in the universe.展开更多
