Aspirin suppresses hepatocellular carcinoma progression by inhibiting platelet activity

BACKGROUND Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the most common malignant liver disease in the world.Platelets(PLTs)are known to play a key role in the maintenance of liver homeostasis and the pathophysiological processes of a variety of liver diseases.Aspirin is the most classic antiplatelet agent.However,the molecular mechanism of platelet action and whether aspirin can affect HCC progression by inhibiting platelet activity need further study.AIM To explore the impact of the antiplatelet effect of aspirin on the development of HCC.METHODS Platelet-rich plasma,platelet plasma,pure platelet,and platelet lysate were prepared,and a coculture model of PLTs and HCC cells was established.CCK-8 analysis,apoptosis analysis,Transwell analysis,and real-time polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)were used to analyze the effects of PLTs on the growth,metastasis,and inflammatory microenvironment of HCC.RT-PCR and Western blot were used to detect the effects of platelet activation on tumor-related signaling pathways.Aspirin was used to block the activation and aggregation of PLTs both in vitro and in vivo,and the effect of PLTs on the progression of HCC RESULTS PLTs significantly promoted the growth,invasion,epithelial-mesenchymal transition,and formation of an inflammatory microenvironment in HCC cells.Activated PLTs promoted HCC progression by activating the mitogenactivated protein kinase/protein kinase B/signal transducer and activator of transcription three(MAPK/AKT/STAT3)signaling axis.Additionally,aspirin inhibited HCC progression in vitro and in vivo by inhibiting platelet activation.CONCLUSION PLTs play an important role in the pathogenesis of HCC,and aspirin can affect HCC progression by inhibiting platelet activity.These results suggest that antiplatelet therapy has promising application prospects in the treatment and combined treatment of HCC. 展开更多

Head and neck cancer and the approaches used to treat it can cause symptoms such as mucositis,alteration or loss of taste,dysphagia,and xerostomia,whichmakes the incidence of malnutrition in head and neck cancer patients higher than in the general population of cancer patients.Malnutrition in patients with head and neck cancer is associated with the occurrence of treatment-related adverse events,an increase in overall economic cost,a decline in quality of life,and a poor prognosis.Therefore,rehabilitation interventions for malnutrition are necessary throughout the course of the disease.However,the importance of rehabilitation interventions for malnutrition in patients with head and neck cancer has not been fully recognized,and the optimal methods and timing of interventions are unclear.This article provides an overview of rehabilitation interventions for malnutrition,including nutritional supplementation,exercise-based interventions,nutritional counseling and cognitive improvement,and drug therapy,and discusses their advantages and disadvantages as well as potential future directions. 展开更多

AIM: To evaluate the accuracy of diffusion-weighted imaging(DWI) without bowel preparation,the optimal b value and the changes in apparent diffusion coefficient(ADC) in detecting ulcerative colitis(UC).METHODS: A total of 20 patients who underwent 3T magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) without bowel preparation and colonoscopy within 24 h were recruited.Biochemical indexes,including C-reactive protein(CRP),erythrocyte sedimentation rate,hemoglobin,leucocytes,platelets,serum iron and albumin,were determined.Biochemical examinations were then performed within 24 h before or after MR colonography was conducted.DWI was performed at various b values(b = 0,400,600,800,and 1000 s/mm2).Two radiologists independently and blindly reviewed conventional- and contrast-enhanced MR images,DWI and ADC maps; these radiologists also determined ADC in each intestinal segment(rectum,sigmoid,left colon,transverse colon,and right colon).Receiver operating characteristic(ROC) analysis was performed to assess the diagnostic performance of DWI hyperintensity from various b factors,ADC values and different radiological signs to detect endoscopic inflammation in the corresponding bowel segment.Optimal ADC threshold was estimated by maximizing the combination of sensitivity and specificity.MRfindings were correlated with endoscopic results and clinical markers; these findings were then estimated by ROC analysis.RESULTS: A total of 100 segments(71 with endoscopic colonic inflammation; 29 normal) were included.The proposed total magnetic resonance score(MR-score-T) was correlated with the total modified Baron score(Baron-T; r = 0.875,P < 0.0001); the segmental MR score(MR-score-S) was correlated with the segmental modified Baron score(Baron-S; r = 0.761,P < 0.0001).MR-score-T was correlated with clinical and biological markers of disease activity(r = 0.445 to 0.831,P < 0.05).MR-score-S > 1 corresponded to endoscopic colonic inflammation with a sensitivity of 85.9%,a specificity of 82.8% and an area under the curve(AUC) of 0.929(P < 0.0001).The accuracy of DWI hyperintensity was significantly greater at b = 800 than at b = 400,600,or 1000 s/mm2(P < 0.05) when endoscopic colonic inflammation was detected.DWI hyperintensity at b = 800 s/mm2 indicated endoscopic colonic inflammation with a sensitivity of 93.0%,a specificity of 79.3% and an AUC of 0.867(P < 0.0001).Quantitative analysis results revealed that ADC values at b = 800 s/mm2 differed significantly between endoscopic inflamed segment and normal intestinal segment(1.56 ± 0.58 mm2/s vs 2.63 ± 0.46 mm2/s,P < 0.001).The AUC of ADC values was 0.932(95% confidence interval: 0.881-0.983) when endoscopic inflammation was detected.The threshold ADC value of 2.18 × 10-3 mm2/s indicated that endoscopic inflammation differed from normal intestinal segment with a sensitivity of 89.7% and a specificity of 80.3%.CONCLUSION: DWI combined with conventional MRI without bowel preparation provides a quantitative strategy to differentiate actively inflamed intestinal segments from the normal mucosa to detect UC. 展开更多

Background:To study the efficacy of Fujing prescription combined with auricular acupoint application in premature ovarian failure and its effect on hormone levels.Methods:From March 2018 to March 2020,100 patients with premature ovarian failure treated in our outpatient clinic were selected and randomly divided into a control group of 50 cases and a treatment group of 50 cases.The control group was treated with Femoston for 28 consecutive days,and the treatment group was treated with not only Femoston,but also Fujing prescription and auricular acupoint application.The patients in the two groups were treated with a 3-month course of treatment.The clinical efficacy,traditional Chinese medicine integral,serum hormone level,immune index and the occurrence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results:After treatment,the indexes of IgG,IgM and IgA in the treatment group were all increased(P<0.05 for all);compared with the control group,the incidence of adverse reactions in the treatment group was lower(P<0.05).Conclusion:The combination of Fujing prescription and auricular acupoint application in the treatment of premature ovarian failure can improve patients'clinical symptoms significantly,resulting in a decrease in follicle-stimulating hormone levels and an increase in estrogen levels.The combination of Fujing prescription and acupoint application has provided a clinical basis for the TCM treatment of premature ovarian failure. 展开更多

Background:To investigate the therapeutic effect of cervical radiofrequency ablation on high risk-HPV persistent infection.Methods:One hundred patients with persistent high risk-HPV infection diagnosed in our hospital from April 2019 to February 2020 were selected.Those in the same period were randomly selected by SPSS19.0 software machine according to the ratio of 1:1,and divided into the treatment group(BBT-RF-A radiofrequency group)and the observation group(recombinant human interferon suppository group)with 50 cases in each group.The negative conversion rate of high risk-HPV between the 2 groups was compared at the 6th and 12th months after treatment,and the types of persistent HR-HPV infection in Changle were studied.Results:The negative conversion rates of HR-HPV in the treatment group were 60%(35/50)and 82%(41/50)at 6 and 12 months after treatment,respectively,while the negative conversion rates of high risk-HPV in the observation group were 30%(15/50)and 44%(22/50)at 6 and 12 months after treatment,respectively.The negative conversion rates in the treatment group were significantly higher than those in the observation group(P<0.05).Studying the main types of high risk-HPV persistent infection has guiding value for HPV vaccine injection in Changle.Conclusion:Self-clotting cutter radiofrequency ablation has a good effect on the negative conversion rate of high risk-HPV persistent infection.These results suggest that the main types of single persistent cervical HR-HPV infection are 16,52 and 58,not including the 18 types. 展开更多

Diffusion tensor imaging plays an important role in the accurate diagnosis and prognosis of spinal cord diseases. However, because of technical limitations, the imaging sequences used in this technique cannot reveal the fine structure of the spinal cord with precision. We used the readout segmentation of long variable echo-trains(RESOLVE) sequence in this cross-sectional study of 45 healthy volunteers aged 20 to 63 years. We found that the RESOLVE sequence significantly increased the resolution of the diffusion images and improved the median signal-to-noise ratio of the middle(C4–6) and lower(C7–T1) cervical segments to the level of the upper cervical segment. In addition, the values of fractional anisotropy and radial diffusivity were significantly higher in white matter than in gray matter. Our study verified that the RESOLVE sequence could improve resolution of diffusion tensor imaging in clinical applications and provide accurate baseline data for the diagnosis and treatment of cervical spinal cord diseases. 展开更多

Cervical cancer is the most common malignant tumour of the female reproductive system,resulting in more than 500,000 new cases annually worldwide.In developing countries,cervical cancer ranks second in terms of cancer mortality among women.Human papilloma virus is the primary causative agent of cervical cancer,with approximately 70 percent of cervical cancers caused by high-risk types of human papilloma virus 16 and 18.There are currently three types of human papilloma virus vaccines available:bivalent,quadri-valent and nine-valent.However,in recent years,it is reported that cervical cancer vaccine can cause premature ovarian failure.Consequently,an extensive literature search to find out the correlation between human papilloma virus vaccine and premature ovarian failure became a priority.There is no sufficient evidence to support or prove that there is a link between the human papilloma virus vaccine and premature ovarian failure.Hence,the vaccine does not cause premature ovarian failure. 展开更多

Objective:To explore the pattern of medication used in the treatment of dysmenorrhea by famous Chinese gynecologists based on the data mining method.Method:The electronic search of the Chinese journal full-text database CNKI,WIP database,Wanfang database,and biomedical database was used to download the experience awareness of famous Chinese gynecologists on the literature of dysmenorrhea treatment,including the self-experience introduction of Chinese gynecologists and the experience summary of students.Conduct a manual search to extract relevant literature on dysmenorrhea treatment.An Excel sheet was used to create a statistical summary table from which all data collected were classified into dysmenorrhea,TCM diagnosis,Western medicine diagnosis,TCM evidence differentiation,and high-frequency pharmacological gender classification.Statistical methods were used to perform frequency statistics for all syndromes,formulations and herbal medicines and to apply association rules to mine potential connections between two diseases,syndromes,prescriptions and herbal medicines to summarize the pharmacological patterns of TCM gynecology treatment of dysmenorrhea.The method was used to provide evidence for differentiation and drug ideas and to improve the efficacy of the clinical treatment of dysmenorrhea.Results:Among the 50 gynecologists in The Experience of Famous Chinese Gynecologists,153 journal articles and 22 monographs that met the requirements were collected,and the total number of prescriptions finally collected was 715.A total of 294 medical cases were included,and the high-risk age group for the onset of dysmenorrhea was concentrated between 27–36 years old.The types of dysmenorrhea can be categorized into eight types,and the number of occurrences in descending order:Qi stagnation and blood stasis,cold clotting and blood stasis,kidney deficiency and blood stasis,heat burning and blood stasis,Qi and blood deficiency,damp-heat stasis,Qi deficiency and blood stasis,and liver and kidney deficiency.Famous TCM gynecologists used 296 kinds of herbs for treating dysmenorrhea,with a total drug frequency of 8020 times,of which the total frequency of the top 100 herbs was 7355 times,accounting for 91.71%of the total frequency.Conclusion:(1)Famous Chinese gynecologists treat dysmenorrhea with the guiding principle of"if it does not pass,it hurts;if it does not glory,it hurts".Blood stasis is the main type of dysmenorrhea,and the method of activating blood stasis is the main treatment for dysmenorrhea.(2)Dysmenorrhea is mainly caused by real evidence,among which primary dysmenorrhea can be caused by real evidence,deficiency evidence and mixed evidence of deficiency and real,and the prescriptions used are mainly sutra prescriptions;secondary dysmenorrhea is mainly caused by real evidence and mixed evidence of deficiency and real,and the prescriptions used are mainly empirical prescriptions and are often used together with drugs to disperse nodules.(3)Commonly used herbal medicines for treating dysmenorrhea include Danggui,Baishao,Chuanxiong,Xiangfu,Yanhusuo,Chishao,Gancao and Wulingzhi.Common classic formulas include Siwu Tang,Wenjing Tang,Shixiao San,Shaofuzhuyu Tang,Sini San,Jinlingzi San,and Xiaoyao San.Typical experienced formulas:Neiyi 1 Fang,Neiyi 2 Fang,Neiyi 3 Fang,Jiaweimojie Tang,Bailiansanjie Tang,Neiyizhitong Tang,Huoxuequyuhuazheng Tang,etc. 展开更多

White Matter Changes in Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Following Mild Traumatic Brain Injury: A Prospective Longitudinal Diffusion Tensor Imaging Study 被引量:6

Background: The ability to predict posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a critical issue in the management of patients with mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), as early medical and rehabilitative interventions may reduce the risks of long-term cognitive changes. The aim of the present study was to investigate how diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) metrics changed in the transition from acute to chronic phases in patients with mTBI and whether the alteration relates to the development of PTSD. Methods: Forty-three patients with mTBI and 22 healthy volunteers were investigated. The patients were divided into two groups: successful recovery (SR, n = 22) and poor recovery (PR, n = 21), based on neurocognitive evaluation at 1 or 6 months after injury. All patients underwent magnetic resonance imaging investigation at acute (within 3 days), subacute (10-20 days), and chronic (1-6 months) phases after injury. Group differences of fractional anisotropy (FA) and mean diffusivity (MD) were analyzed using tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS). The accuracy of DTI metrics for classifying PTSD was estimated using Bayesian discrimination analysis. Results: TBSS showed white matter (WM) abnormalities in various brain regions. In the acute phase, FA values were higher for PR and SR patients than controls (all P 〈 0.05). In subacute phase, PR patients have higher mean MD than SR and controls (all P 〈 0.05). In the chronic phase, lower FA and higher MD were observed in PR compared with both SR and control groups (all P 〈 0.05). PR and SR groups could be discriminated with a sensitivity of 73%, specificity of 78%, and accuracy of 75.56%, in terms of MD value in subacute phase. Conclusions: Patients with mTBI have multiple abnormalities in various WM regions. DTI metrics change over time and provide a potential indicator at subacute stage for PTSD following mTBI. 展开更多

Their structures were elucidated by spectral and chemical methods. The cytotoxicity of the new compound against 10 selected human cancer cell lines was assayed.Results: Five comarins were isolated and identified as fraxetin-7-O-β-D-[6'-(3"–hydroxyl–3"-methylglutaryl)] glucopyranoside(1), fraxoside(2), fraxetin(3), scopoline(4), and esculetin(5), respectively.Conclusion: Compound 1 is a new compound. Unfortunately, this compound exhibited no cytotoxicity with tested cell lines. 展开更多

3D porous nano-LiMn2O4(nano-LMO)is successfully prepared at 250℃ by a low temperature pyrolysis,using porous MnO2 and lithium acetate as reactants.The as-formed porous samples are demonstrated to be constructed by we... 3D porous nano-LiMn2O4(nano-LMO)is successfully prepared at 250℃ by a low temperature pyrolysis,using porous MnO2 and lithium acetate as reactants.The as-formed porous samples are demonstrated to be constructed by well-defined and uniform cubic nanocrystals with particle sizes regulated from tens to hundreds of nanometers by adjusting the annealing temperature.Due to its proper particle size with perfect crystallization(-50 nm)and rich pores,sample LMO-265,prepared at 265℃,exhibits high performance as an aqueous lithium ion cathode.It can present a high specific capacity of 102 mAh g1 at a current density of 5℃ with a greatly improved rate capability(57.3%,68C)and capacity retention(70.7%,after 5000 cycles at 13.5C)in 1 M Li_(2)SO_(4).When assembled with commercial used active carbon(AC)to form an aqueous hybrid capacitor,it can deliver a high energy density of 15.8 Wh kg1 at a large power density of 9 kW kg1 with a good cycling life of 71.6%after 5000 at 2 Ag^(-1).Considering of its simple and economical preparation,as-prepared porous LMO can be regarded as a promising high-performance cathode material in aqueous electrolyte. 展开更多
