Acupuncture-like therapies, including electroacupuncture (EA) and transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS), become more popular world-wide. Increasing evidence has demonstrated that EA and TEAS are effective in treating gynecological disorders, especially infertility. This present paper describes how to select acupoints for the treatment of infertility from the view of theories of traditional Chinese medicine and how to determine critical parameters of electric pulses of ENTEAS based on results from animal and clinical studies. It summarizes the principles of clinical application of EA/rEAS in treating various kinds of reproductive disorders, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), pain induced by oocyte retrieval, diminished ovarian reserve, embryo transfer, and oligosperrnia/ asthenospermia. The possible underlying mechanisms mediating the therapeutic effects of EA/TEAS in reproductive medicine are also examined.展开更多

The ability to widely tune the optical properties of amorphous alloys is highly desirable especially for their potential applications in optoelectronic devices.In this work,we demonstrate that introducing oxygen into ...The ability to widely tune the optical properties of amorphous alloys is highly desirable especially for their potential applications in optoelectronic devices.In this work,we demonstrate that introducing oxygen into an amorphous alloy system of Co-Fe-Ta-B enables the formation of various amorphous derivatives ranging from metals to semiconductors,and eventually to insulators.These oxygencontaining amorphous derivatives gradually become transparent with the opened bandgaps,leading to a continuous increase in their optical transmittance.Furthermore,the reflective metal-type amorphous alloy and transparent insulator-type amorphous oxide of the system can be integrated together to realize the full-color tuning over the entire visible spectral range.This provides a new way to develop large-area color coatings with high design flexibility and full-color tunability.We envisage that the design concept proposed in this work is also applicable to many other amorphous alloy systems,from which all types of amorphous materials including alloys,semiconductors and insulators may be developed to show unprecedented optical functionalities.展开更多
Objective To determine the nosogenetic factors of a 46,XY female with primary amenorrhea and unilateral mixed germ cell tumor.Methods Eight genes associated with 46,XY gonadal dysgenesis were detected in the patient a...Objective To determine the nosogenetic factors of a 46,XY female with primary amenorrhea and unilateral mixed germ cell tumor.Methods Eight genes associated with 46,XY gonadal dysgenesis were detected in the patient and her parents by target region captured-next generation sequencing.Results An insertion of a single nucleotide(adenine) at the coding site 230(c.230231insA) located in the high mobility group(HMG) domain of SRY was revealed,which led to a truncated protein(p.Lys77 fsX 27). This mutation was at position 2655414 of the Y chromosome, supported with 127 unique mapped reads, however, this mutation was not found in the in-house dataset of 1 092 controls. Additionally, none of the candidate gene was detected in the patient’s parents, which indicated that it is a de novo mutation.Conclusion A novel SRY sporadic mutation due to a single nucleotide insertion at position 230(c.230231insA) was identified as the cause of the disease in this patient.Target region captured-next generation sequencing was found to be an effective method for the molecular genetic testing of 46,XY complete gonadal dysgenesis(46,XY CGD).展开更多
