Winter coastal upwelling off northwest Borneo in the South China Sea(SCS) is investigated by using satellite data, climatological temperature and salinity fields and reanalysis data. The upwelling forms in December, matures in January, starts to decay in February and almost disappears in March. Both Ekman transport induced by the alongshore winter monsoon and Ekman pumping due to orographic wind stress curl are favorable for the upwelling. Transport estimates demonstrate that the month-to-month variability of Ekman transport and Ekman pumping are both consistent with that of winter coastal upwelling, but Ekman transport is two times larger than Ekman pumping in January and February. Under the influence of El Ni?o-Southern Oscillation(ENSO), the upwelling shows remarkable interannual variability: during winter of El Ni?o(La Ni?a) years, an anticyclonic(a cyclonic) wind anomaly is established in the SCS, which behaves a northeasterly(southwesterly) anomaly and a positive(negative) wind stress curl anomaly off the northwest Borneo coast, enhancing(reducing) the upwelling and causing anomalous surface cooling(warming) and higher(lower) chlorophyll concentration. The sea surface temperature anomaly(SSTA) associated with ENSO off the northwest Borneo coast has an opposite phase to that off southeast Vietnam, resulting in a SSTA seesaw pattern in the southern SCS in winter. 展开更多

Neuromorphic photonic computing has emerged as a competitive computing paradigm to overcome the bottlenecks of the von-Neumann architecture.Linear weighting and nonlinear spike activation are two fundamental functions of a photonic spiking neural network(PSNN).However,they are separately implemented with different photonic materials and devices,hindering the large-scale integration of PSNN.Here,we propose,fabricate and experimentally demonstrate a photonic neuro-synaptic chip enabling the simultaneous implementation of linear weighting and nonlinear spike activation based on a distributed feedback(DFB)laser with a saturable absorber(DFB-SA).A prototypical system is experimentally constructed to demonstrate the parallel weighted function and nonlinear spike activation.Furthermore,a fourchannel DFB-SA laser array is fabricated for realizing matrix convolution of a spiking convolutional neural network,achieving a recognition accuracy of 87%for the MNIST dataset.The fabricated neuro-synaptic chip offers a fundamental building block to construct the large-scale integrated PSNN chip. 展开更多

AIM:To evaluate the correlation between Demodex infestation and keratitis,and to assess demodicosis using a simple approach.METHODS:A modified slit lamp illumination(at 40×magnification)was used to observe Demodex tails in 40patients with refractory keratitis and 80 healthy controls.Bacterial smear and culture of the conjunctival sac and corneal lesion were performed to identify the pathogen.Tea tree oil ointment(TTOO)was added as a Demodex killing agent for lid scrubs to the treatment when Demodex infestation was confirmed.RESULTS:Demodex tails were found in all patients compared to 42/80 of the controls(P<0.01).Seventeen patients presented blepharitis,while 23 were free of scales and inflammation at the lid margin.The demodicosis was mild,moderate,and severe in 8,19,and 13 patients,respectively,compared to mild in 42 controls(P<0.01).The keratitis was mild,moderate,and severe in 13,19,and 8patients,respectively.The severity of Demodex infestation was not correlated to the severity of keratitis(P=0.126).The growth of Staphylococcus was revealed in nine patients who did not react to antibiotic eye drops prior to the TTOO treatment.Patients’signs and symptoms got resolved after the lid scrub with TTOO.CONCLUSION:Ocular Demodex needs to be checked and treated in refractory keratitis patients with or without blepharitis.A slit-lamp illumination under high magnification favors the judgment of the severity of Demodex infestation. 展开更多

[Objectives]This study was conducted to investigate the pesticide residue status of bananas in Tangshan area and the dietary intake risk of consumers.[Methods]High-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(HPLC-MS/MS)was applied to detect 70 pesticide residues in 191 batches of banana samples extracted from Tangshan area,and chronic and acute risk assessments were conducted.[Results]Among the 191 batches of bananas,172 batches of samples were detected to contain agrochemicals,with a detection rate of 90.05%.Seventeen agrochemicals were detected,accounting for 24.29%of the total agrochemicals tested.There was a phenomenon of multiple pesticide residues in a single sample,and high detection rates were found in carbendazim(49.21%),prochloraz(41.88%),pyraclostrobin(34.03%)and imidacloprid(30.37%).According to GB 2763-2021 National Food Safety Standards—Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides in Food,the over-standard rate of imidacloprid was 17.8%;and the chronic and acute dietary risks of the 17 pesticide residues were all less than 100%.[Conclusions]The pesticide residues in bananas consumed by consumers on a daily basis do not pose unacceptable dietary risks. 展开更多

针对精密进给系统热误差的数据稀缺且获取成本高的问题,提出了一种基于协同训练支持向量机回归算法(COSVR)的精密进给系统热误差建模与补偿方法。通过整合标记数据(温度和热误差)及未标记温度数据建立热误差模型,利用基于西门子840D数... 针对精密进给系统热误差的数据稀缺且获取成本高的问题,提出了一种基于协同训练支持向量机回归算法(COSVR)的精密进给系统热误差建模与补偿方法。通过整合标记数据(温度和热误差)及未标记温度数据建立热误差模型,利用基于西门子840D数控系统开发的补偿方法进行补偿。以精密镗床双驱动滚珠丝杠进给系统X轴为研究对象,进行热特性实验,获取24 m/min进给速度下的标记数据和12 m/min进给速度下的未标记温度数据,利用COSVR整合所有数据建立热误差模型,并通过遗传算法优化的支持向量机回归算法(GA-SVR)仅选用标记数据建立对照模型,获取18 m/min进给速度下的标记数据用于模型性能测试。结果表明:与GA-SVR模型相比,COSVR模型的均方根误差减少了34.14%,且在100 min和520 min时的误差范围分别减小了62.62%和55.85%。COSVR模型具有更好的预测性能且能更有效地降低热误差,进一步提高了精密进给系统热误差的建模精度。 展开更多

在竞争性选举制度下,风险如何塑造选民投票行为?本研究通过引入"技能专有性"为投票理论提供新的解释框架。技能专有性分为通用型技能和专用型技能两类。由于专用型技能劳动者多从事制造业工作,经济全球化造成的"去工业化... 在竞争性选举制度下,风险如何塑造选民投票行为?本研究通过引入"技能专有性"为投票理论提供新的解释框架。技能专有性分为通用型技能和专用型技能两类。由于专用型技能劳动者多从事制造业工作,经济全球化造成的"去工业化"更可能导致这部分劳动者面临失业风险。当专用型技能劳动者难以抵挡"去工业化"带来的失业风险,政府就成为他们的诉求对象。以政治手段抵御失业风险成为这部分选民保障自我利益的主要途径。因此,在竞争性选举下,专用型技能选民更可能支持满足他们利益的政党;同时,政党也通过将这部分选民最关心的议题作为选举纲领来争取选票。基于2016年的"台湾选举与民主化调查"的计量分析支持了上述观点。 展开更多

AIM:To compare efficacy of combined lamivudine(LAM)and adefovir dipivoxil(ADV)therapy with that of entecavir(ETV)monotherapy for hepatitis B virus(HBV)-related decompensated liver cirrhosis.METHODS:A total of 120 na ve patients with HBVrelated decompensated cirrhosis participated in this study.Sixty patients were treated with combined LAM and ADV therapy(LAM+ADV group),while the other60 were treated with ETV monotherapy(ETV group)for two years.Tests for liver and kidney function,alpha-fetoprotein,HBV serum markers,HBV DNA load,prothrombin time(PT),and ultrasonography or computed tomography scan of the liver were performed every1 to 3 mo.Repeated measure ANOVA and theχ2test were performed to compare the efficacy,side effects,and the cumulative survival rates at 48 and 96 wk.RESULTS:Forty-five patients in each group were observed for 96 wk.No significant differences in HBV DNA negative rates and alanine aminotransferase(ALT)normalization rates at weeks 48(χ2=2.12 and 2.88)and96(χ2=3.21 and 3.24)between the two groups were observed.Hepatitis B e antigen seroconversion rate in the LAM+ADV group at week 96 was significantly higher in the ETV group(43.5%vs 36.4%,χ2=4.09,P<0.05).Viral breakthrough occurred in 2 cases(4.4%)by week 48 and in 3 cases(6.7%)by week 96 in the LAM+ADV group,and no viral mutation was detected.In the ETV group,viral breakthrough occurred in 1 case(2.2%)at the end of week 96.An increase in albumin(F=18.9 and 17.3),decrease in total bilirubin and in ALT(F=16.5,17.1 and 23.7,24.8),reduced PT(F=22.7 and 24.5),and improved Child-Turcotte-Pugh and the model for end-stage liver disease scores(F=18.5,17.8,and 24.2,23.8)were observed in both groups.The cumulative rates of mortality and liver transplantation were 16.7%(10/60)and 18.3%(11/60)in the LAM+ADV and ETV groups,respectively.CONCLUSION:Both LAM+ADV combination therapy and ETV monotherapy can effectively inhibit HBV replication,improve liver function,and decrease mortality. 展开更多

Rammasun intensified rapidly from tropical storm to super typhoon in the northern South China Sea(NSCS)before its landfall on Hainan Island. Analysis of observed data shows that the anomalous ocean upper layer warm water(WW) is important to the rapid intensification of Rammasun. During the period of Rammasun, sea surface temperature(SST) in the NSCS was much warmer than the climatological SST. The anomalous WW supplied more energy to Rammasun, resulting in its rapid intensification. Numerical simulations further confirm that the NSCS WW plays an important role in the rapid intensification of Rammasun. As the WW is removed, the intensification of Rammasun is only 25 h Pa, which is 58.1% of that in the original SST-forced run. 展开更多

Interannual variability of thermal front west of Luzon Island during the winter of 1993–2013 is examined with the method of singular value decomposition(SVD) and a suite of satellite measurements in this paper. It is found that both the area and intensity of the thermal front west of Luzon Island show apparent interannual variability.Further study based on SVD shows that the interannual variability of the thermal front is highly associated with El Ni?o and Southern Oscillation(ENSO), and the correlation coefficient between Ni?o3.4 index and the first Principal Component(PC1) of thermal front can reach –0.65. The mechanism can be described as follows. In El Ni?o(La Ni?a) years, the East Asian winter monsoon(EAWM) is weakened(enhanced), inducing weaker(stronger) local wind stress curl(WSC) west of Luzon Island, and resulting in weakened(enhanced) Luzon cold eddy, which finally leads to the weakening(enhancement) of the thermal front. 展开更多

Due to orographic blockage, a weak wind wake occurs in summer off northeast Vietnam in the South China Sea. Under the wind wake, warm water is observed from both high-resolution satellite data and hydrographic observations. The wake of warm water forms in June, continues to mature in July and August, starts to decay in September, and disappears in October. The warm water wake also shows robust diurnal variation – it intensifies during the day and weakens in the night. Warm water wakes can be generated through wind-induced mixing and thermal(latent heat flux) processes. In this paper, a mixed layer model is used to evaluate the relative importance of the two processes on seasonal and diurnal timescales, respectively. The results demonstrate that thermal processes make a greater contribution to the wake than wind-induced mixing processes on a seasonal timescale, while the warm water wake is dominated by wind-induced mixing processes on a diurnal timescale. 展开更多

It is found that the TC tracks in the SCS in November are shifted to the north after 1980 compared with those before 1980. Both data analyses and numerical simulations show that the surface warming in the SCS may contribute to this more northward shift. The warming produces a cyclonic atmosphere circulation anomaly in the northwestern SCS and an associated southerly in the central SCS steering the TCs to the north. 展开更多

AIM: To evaluate the effect of cataract surgery on sleep quality and to compare the difference between ultravioletblocking clear intraocular lens(UVB-IOL) and blue-filtering intraocular lens(BF-IOL) implantation.METHODS: Electronic search was performed of PubM ed, MEDLINE, Embase and the Cochrane Library up to January 2016. Studies were eligible when they evaluated the sleep quality before and after cataract surgery by Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI). A random/fixed-effects Metaanalysis was used for the pooled estimate. Heterogeneity was assessed with the I2 test. RESULTS: Six studies were selected from 5623 references. Cataract surgery significantly reduced the PSQI scores at postoperative 0-3 mo [mean difference(MD) =-0.62, 95%CI:-1.14 to-0.11, P=0.02, I2=66%] and 3-12 mo(MD=-0.32, 95%CI:-0.62 to-0.02, P=0.04, I2=0), respectively. Considering different intraocular lens(IOL) implantations, relative postoperative PSQI reduction was found for both UVB-IOL and BF-IOL, but a significant reduction was detected only for UVB-IOL. No significant difference was found with the effect of BF-IOL vs UVB-IOL on sleep quality. CONCLUSION: This study found that cataract surgery significantly improved the PSQI score-derived subjective sleep quality irrespective of the IOL type implanted. These findings highlight a substantial benefit of cataract surgery on systemic health with photoreceptive restoration in addition to visual acuity improvements. 展开更多
