In this paper, we focus on the design of irregular QC-LDPC code based multi-level coded modulation(MLCM) scheme by jointly optimizing the component code rate and the degree distribution of the irregular QC-LDPC component code. Firstly, the sub-channel capacities of MLCM systems is analyzed and discussed, based on which the optimal component code rate can be obtained. Secondly, an extrinsic information transfer chart based two-stage searching algorithm is proposed to find the good irregular QC-LDPC code ensembles with optimal component code rates for their corresponding sub-channels. Finally, by constructing the irregular QC-LDPC component codes from the designed ensembles with the aim of possibly enlarging the girth and reducing the number of the shortest cycles, the designed irregular QC-LDPC code based 16QAM and 64QAM MLCM systems can achieve 0.4 dB and 1.2 dB net coding gain, respectively, compared with the recently proposed regular QC-LDPC code based 16QAM and 64QAM MLCM systems. 展开更多

Graphene-based nanomaterials have emerged as a novel type of materials with exceptional physicochemical properties and numerous applications in various areas. In this review, we summarize recent advances in studying interactions between graphene and biosystems. We first provide a brief introduction on graphene and its derivatives, and then discuss on the toxicology and biocompatibility of graphene, including the extracellular interactions between graphene and biomacromolecules, cellular studies of graphene, and in vivo toxicological effects. Next, we focus on various graphene-based practical applications in antibacterial materials, wound addressing, drug delivery, and water purification.We finally present perspectives on challenges and future developments in these exciting fields. 展开更多

Analysis and testing of total ionizing dose effect on several commercial optical transceivers via gamma-ray radiation

In our Lett er, we selec ted several commercial optical t ransceivers, which consist of single-channel transceiver modules, parallel transmitting and receiving modules, and Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) optical linet erminal (OLT) and optical net work unit (ONU) modules, to do the total ionizing dose (TID) testing via the gamma-ray radiation method. The changing of current and receiver sensitivity of optical transceivers is discussed and analyzed. Based on the TID testing exposed to a TID of 50 krad (Si) at a dose rate of about 0.1 rad (Si)/s, the performance of single-channel transceivers and parallel receiving modules has not changed after 50 krad (Si) exposure, the parallel transmitting and EPON ONU modules have not worked after 40 krad (Si) and 47 krad (Si) exposure, the EPON OLT module has bit error in the process of irradiation, and it can work well after annealing;the reason for the error of OLT is analyzed. Finally, based on the theoretical analysis and testing results, this Letter provides several design suggestions to improve the reliability for optical transceivers, which can be referenced by satellite system designation for various space missions. 展开更多

Piezoelectric ceramics exhibit three conventional piezoelectric coefficients,i.e.,d33,d31,d15,due to their∞mm crystal symmetry.Unconventional piezoelectric coefficients,such as d11,d12,d13,d14,d16,etc.,can only be extracted from piezoelectric single crystals of special symmetry with specific cut direction.Here we demonstrate a rotated poling method to realize unconventional piezoelectric coefficients in perovskite piezoelectric ceramics.This method is elaborated in theory and experimentally proven to be effective.Full nonzero piezoelectric coefficients in the 36 piezoelectric coefficients matrix can be obtained by combining these“quasi(effective)piezoelectric coefficients”with the conventional piezoelectric coefficients,which would expand applications in a wide variety of piezoelectric devices. 展开更多
