A 41-year old male patient presented with yellowish papules on the elbows, upper arms, back and the buttocks, as well as yellow streaks in the palmar creas es. Laboratory examination revealed Fredrickson type IIb hyperlipidemia. Histolo gic changes were consistent with eruptive xanthomas. Treatment was started with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors and dietary measures were taken to lower serum le vels of cholesterol and triglycerides. Hyperlipidemia is the cause of eruptive x anthomas and strongly increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases. 展开更多

It often results in a generali zed erythroderma with sharply demarcated islands of sparing (“ nappes claires” ). A 65-year-old patient with severe PRP showed good clinical improvement a fter 8 months of treatment when treated with acitretin in combination with photo therapy and systemic glucocorticosteroids. 展开更多

Aluminum (Al)-based aluminum oxide (Al2O3) and silicon carbide (SIC) particles hybrid metal matrix com- posites were processed by powder metallurgy technique, followed by sintering at 500 ℃ and then hot extrusion. The tribological properties of these composites with different weight fractions of Al2O3 and SiC were investigated; extrusion process significantly reduces the extent of porosity after cold compaction and sintering processes. Hybridization of the two reinforcements improved hardness and wear resistance of the composites. With an increase in SiC content, hardness was increased and consequently the wear resistance was enhanced also. Scanning electron microscopy observations show a better interfacial bond between matrix and reinforcements and a better distribution of the reinforcements. 展开更多
