The occurrence of cardiovascular illness in the human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)community is increasing,with a particular focus on coronary heart disease.Patients infected with HIV have a higher risk of myocardial infarction compared to the general population in modern countries due to the development of effective antiretroviral medications and increased life expectancy.Those not receiving highly active antiretroviral therapy(ART)may experience common cardiac consequences,including myocarditis,dilated cardiomyopathy,endocarditis,pulmonary hypertension,pericardial effusion,and cardiotoxicity associated with non-antiretroviral drugs.After the use of highly active ART,continuing immune activation and systemic inflammation seem to play a central role in this process.Recent studies suggest that protease inhibitors might negatively impact the progression of HIV-related heart failure(HF),which complicates the determination of the best therapy strategy for HIVassociated cardiomyopathy.The objective of this review is to examine the pathophysiology and correlation of various antiretroviral drugs leading to HIV-associated HF.Additionally,we explore the causes of HIV-associated atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease,including the high frequency of classic cardiovascular risk factors in HIVinfected patients,as well as HIV-related factors like the use of ART and chronic inflammation despite successful treatment of HIV infection.Numerous studies have revealed that individuals living with HIV/acquired immune deficiency syndrome frequently experience HF.In conclusion,despite advancements in HIV care,HIV-infected individuals continue to face an increased risk of HIV-associated cardiomyopathy and atherosclerosis.Further research is necessary to comprehend the underlying causes and develop effective treatments for cardiovascular disease in this population.We also discuss the currently available therapeutic options and ongoing research to mitigate the risk of cardiovascular disease and inflammation in HIV-infected individuals. 展开更多

A new technique which is a combination of fractal antenna and array antenna is presented to design Plus Slotted Fractal Antenna Array (PSFAA) in this paper. PSFAA with corporate feed operates at 2.5 GHz frequency. PSFAA is designed on FR4 substrate material with permittivity 4.4 and height 1.6 mm. PSFAA is designed up to 2nd iteration. High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) software is used for simulation of PSFAA. The proposed antenna array operates at three bands with five frequencies 2.5 GHz, 4.1 GHz, 6.9 GHz, 7.4 GHz and 8.2 GHz. Simulated Return losses results of proposed PSFAA are -22.15 dB, -19.44 dB, -25.21 dB, -10 dB, -12.45 dB at above frequencies respectively. It has a gain of 9.22 dB at resonant frequency 2.5 GHz whereas conventional antenna array has a gain of 5.15 dB at resonant frequency 2.5 GHz. Return losses and gain of PSFAA also improved from conventional antenna array at various resonant frequencies. 展开更多

Estrogenic activity of hydroalcoholic extract of Clitoria ternatea Linn. leaves on rats

Objective:To assess the estrogenic activity of hydroalcoholic extract of Clitoria(C.)ternatea leaves in female Wistar rats.Methods:Hydroalcoholic extract of C.ternatea leaves prepared by using cold maceration method was tested for estrogenic activity.An acute toxicity study was conducted to estimate the safe dose using OECD 423 guidelines.For estrogenic activity,ovariectomized female rats were divided into four groups,with 6 rats in each group.The control and standard groups were administered with 1%carboxymethyl cellulose orally and estradiol valerate at 1μg/rat/day subcutaneously,respectively.The third group was administered with hydroalcoholic extract of C.ternatea at the dose 500 mg/kg body weight orally and the fourth group was administered with hydroalcoholic extract of C.ternatea at the dose 500 mg/kg body weight orally along with estradiol valerate at dose 1μg/rat/day subcutaneously.All treatments lasted for 7 consecutive days and estrogenic activity was assessed by observing vaginal cornfication.On day 8,all animals were sacrificed and uterine horns were dissected out.Utrine weight was measured and blood serum was further processed for the estimation of biochemical parameters like cholesterol,total proteins,alkaline phosphatase and estrogen by autoanylser.Histological studies of uterus were also carried out.Results:Acute toxicity studies indicated the hydroalcoholic extract of C.ternatea leave was found to be safe up to the dose level of 2000 mg/kg.Oral administration of C.ternatea extract at the dose 500 mg/kg body weight and and estradiol valerate(1μg/rat/day)caused morphological changes i.e.increase in uterine weight,vaginal opening and cornification of cells;biochemical changes i.e.increase in cholesterol,total protein,alkaline phosphatase and estrogen contents;histological changes i.e.increase in uterine diameter,thickness and height of endometrium.Simultaneous administration of C.ternatea extract with estradiol valerate showed a synergistic effect.Histological investigations further confirmed the strong estrogenic nature of C.ternatea extract.Conclusions:C.ternatea extract(500 mg/kg)showed a significant estrogenic activity which is also supported by biochemical and histological studies.So,on the basis of these findings,it can be concluded that C.ternatea can be used as an alternative to synthetic oral contraceptives. 展开更多

Strong acceptor-weak acceptor system FN-TPy has been designed and synthesized,which undergoes solvent dependent self-assembly in mixed aqueous media to generate through space intermolecular charge transfer assemblies.The as-prepared entropically favoured assemblies of FN-TPy exhibit excellent photostability and photosensitizing properties in the assembled state to activate aerial oxygen for efficient generation of reactive oxygen species through Type-I and Type-II pathways.The FN-TPy exhibits excellent potential for regulated oxidation of alcohols and aldehydes under mild reaction conditions(visible light irradiation,aqueous media,room temperature)using aerial oxygen as the‘oxidant’.The present study demonstrates the potential of FN-TPy assemblies to catalyse controlled oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzoic acid. 展开更多
