Random Amplification Polymorphic DNA and Agro-Morphological Traits-Based Fingerprinting for Detection of Genetic Divergence in Indian Black Rice

In this study, 32 black rice genotypes spanning diverse geographies in India were evaluated at both phenotypic and DNA sequence levels to gain insights into their genetic makeup. Significant variations were observed for 14 agro-morphological traits, showing correlations among several yield-related traits.

Effect of omeprazole and domperidone on adult asthmatics with gastroesophageal reflux

AIM: To study the effect of combined omeprazole (Ome) and domperidone (Dom) therapy on asthma symptoms and pulmonary function in asthmatics with gastroesoph- ageal reflux. METHODS: We selected 198 asthmatics with gastroesophageal reflux diagnosed by 24-h esophageal pH monitoring to receive Ome 20 mg twice daily and Dom 10 mg three times daily or placebo for 16 wk (1:1 double-blind randomization). Spirometry was done at baseline and af- ter 16 wk of treatment. The primary outcome measures were: mean daily daytime and nighttime asthma symp- tom scores. Mean daily reflux symptom scores, albuterol use as rescue medication (number of puffs), daytime and nighttime peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR), postbroncho- dilator forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1) and postbronchodilator forced vital capacity (FVC) were secondary outcome measures. RESULTS: Comparison of mean change from baseline between antireflux therapy and placebo groups revealed significant reduction in daytime asthma symptom score (17.4% vs 8.9%), nighttime asthma symptom score (19.6% vs 5.4%), reflux symptom score (8.7% vs 1.6%) and rescue medication use (23.2% vs 3.1%) after antire- flux therapy compared to mean change in placebo group (P < 0.001). There was significant improvement in morn- ing PEFR (7.9% vs 0.2%), evening PEFR (9.8% vs 0.5%), FEV1 (11.1% vs 3.78%) and FVC (9.3% vs 1.52%) in the antireflux therapy group compared to placebo on compar-ing the mean change from baseline after 16 wk (P < 0.01).

Comparative Evaluation of Semi Fragile Watermarking Algorithms for Image Authentication

Technology has no limits today;we have lots of software available in the market by which we can alter any image. People usually copies image from the internet and after some changes they claim that these are their own properties. Insuring digital image integrity has therefore become a major issue. Over the past few years, watermarking has emerged as the leading candidate to solve problems of ownership and content authentications for digital multimedia documents. To protect authenticity of images semi fragile watermarking is very concerned by researchers because of its important function in multimedia content authentication. The aim of this paper is to present a survey and a comparison of emerging techniques for image authentication using semifragile watermarking. In present paper comprehensive overview of insertion and extraction methods used in different semi fragile water marking algorithm are studied using image parameters, potential application, different algorithms are described and focus is on their comparison according to the properties cited above and future directions for developing a better image authentication algorithm are suggested.

Recent development in asymmetric organocatalytic domino reactions involving 1,6-addition as a key step

Due to their unique activation modes,small organic molecule catalysts(organocatalysts)have proved their potential in facilitating the remote functionalizations of unsaturated acceptors with extended conjugation.The organocatalytic 1,6-addition reaction involving the attack of nucleophiles on the δ-carbon of the α,β,γ,δ-unsaturated acceptors has emerged as an excellent strategy to create a stereocenter at the δ-site with high regio-and stereo-control.Organocatalysis has also opened the window for developing complex domino reactions involving the 1,6-addition step.Tremendous advancement has been accomplished in the organocatalytic asymmetric 1,6-addition and related domino reactions for the stereocontrolled synthesis of complex molecular structures bearing multiple stereocenters.This review article summarizes the significant advancement in stereoselective domino reactions involving 1,6-addition as a critical step.
