The patient was diagnosed with pelvic arteriovenous malformations and repeated arterial embolization. A cystoscopy demonstrated that bladder trigone was covered by many clots. At the same time, bleeding mucosa at the right side of the bladder dome was confirmed. We administered hyperbaric oxygen therapy 7 days after admission. Macrohematuria recovered gradually and we then performed transurethral coagulation at the dome with failed mucosa 14 days after admission. Macrohematuria recovered completely and there was no recurrence during hospitalization. Thirty days after admission, we performed cystoscopy and found clear mucosa in the trigone. The patient was discharged 32 days after admission.展开更多

Composite pheochromocytoma-ganglioneuroma (Pheo-GN) in a single adrenal gland is very rare. A case report of a patient with composite Pheo-GN of the adrenal gland and renal pelvic cancer is presented. Laparoscopic left adrenalectomy, nephroureterectomy and para-aortic lymphadenectomy were performed. This represents the first report of simultaneous surgical treatment for composite Pheo-GN and renal pelvic cancer.展开更多

In the present study, we investigated the diabetes-induced dysfunction of seminal vesicles (SVs) in the diabetes-rat model and the role of antioxidants. Streptozotocin-induced diabetes after 4 weeks caused smaller size of the organs, hypercontractility, histological abnormalities, increased concentrations of malondialdehyde in the serum and tissue, overexpression of oxidative stress markers, and cleaved caspase-3 as identified by immunohistochemistry in the SVs. In addition, diabetes resulted in deceased levels of serum testosterone and no newborns after the mating studies. Antioxidants significantly normalized all the above parameters, except for the severely decreased serum testosterone levels and the negative outcome of the mating studies. The present study gives evidence for the important role of diabetes-induced oxidative stress in the function and structure of these androgen-dependent organs. Antioxidants may be a promising supplementary therapy for diabetic male patients to alleviate ejaculatory disorders but alone is not efficient treatment for the mitigation of infertility.展开更多
