Natural convection flow in enclosure has different applications such as room ventilation, heat exchangers, the cooling system of a building etc. The Finite-Element method based on the Galerkin weighted residual approach is used to solve two-dimensional governing mass, momentum and energy-equations for natural convection flow in the presence of a magnetic field on a roof top with semi-circular heater. In the enclosure the horizontal lower wall was heated, the vertical two walls were adiabatic, inside the semi-circular heater, the wavy top wall cooled. The parameters Rayleigh number, Hartmann number and Prandtl number are considered. The effects of the Hartmann number and Rayleigh number on the streamlines, isotherms, velocity profiles and average Nusselt number are examined graphically. The local Nusselt number and the average Nusselt number of the heated portion of the enclosure with the semi-circular heater are presented in this paper. Finally, for the validation of the existing work, the current results are compared with published results and the auspicious agreement is achieved. 展开更多

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the simulation of mixed convection in a lid-driven wavy enclosure with blocks positioned at various positions. This study also examined the impact of the longitudinal position of the heated block on heat transfer enhancement. The Galerkin weighted residual finite element method is employed to computationally solve the governing equations of Navier-Stokes, thermal energy, and mass conservation. The enclosure consists of two square heated blocks strategically placed at different heights—firstly, one set is closer to the bottom surface;secondly, one set is nearer to the middle area and finally, one set is closer to the upper undulating surface of the enclosure. The wavy top wall’s thermal insulation, along with active heating of the bottom wall and blocks, generates a dynamic convective atmosphere. In addition, the left wall ascends as the right wall falls, causing the flow formed by the lid. The study investigates the impact of the Richardson number on many factors, such as streamlines, isotherms, dimensionless temperature, velocity profiles, and average Nusselt numbers. These impacts are depicted through graphical illustrations. In all instances, two counter-rotating eddies were generated within the cage. Higher rotating speed consistently leads to improved performance, irrespective of other characteristics. Furthermore, an ideal amalgamation of the regulating factors would lead to increased heat transmission. 展开更多

The incompressible viscous steady flow through a rotating curved pipe of circular cross-section with magnetic field is investigated numerically to examine the combined effects of rotation (Coriolis force), magnetic field and curvature (centrifugal force) on the flow. The curvature of the pipe has been assumed to be small, that is, the radius of the circle in which the central line of the pipe is coiled is large in comparison with the radius of the cross section. Spectral method is applied as a main tool for the numerical technique, where Fourier series, Chebyshev polynomials, Collocation methods, and Iteration method are used as secondary tools. The flow depends on the Taylor number (Tr), Dean Number (Dn), Magnetic Parameter (M) and the dimensionless curvature of the pipe δ. When Tr > 0, the rotation is in the direction so that the Coriolis force enforces the curvature effect. When Tr −1500 ≤ Tr ≤ 1500, Dn ≥ 1000 (large Dean number), M ≥ 0 and δ = 0.01. Due to high magnetic field four-vortex solution is observed in a rotating curved pipe system. Visualization is attained with MAPLE software. 展开更多

This article is based on the impulsively started horizontal Riga plate in two dimensional unsteady Casson fluid flows with rotation. The plate starts abruptly from the rest relative to the rotating fluids moving with uniform acceleration in its plane. Numerical solutions are acquired by using explicit finite difference method and estimated results have been gained for various values of the Rotational parameter, modified Hartmann number, Prandtl number, Radiative parameter, Eckert number, Heat source parameter, Schmidt number, and the Soret number. Both the Compaq visual FORTRAN 6.6a and MATLAB R2015a tools have been used to find the numerical solutions and the graphical presentation. The Skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number have been computed and the effects of some pertinent parameters on various distributions are discussed briefly and presented graphically. 展开更多

The steady magneto hydrodynamic (MHD) boundary layer flow and combined heat and mass transfer of a non-Newtonian fluid over an inclined stretching sheet have been investigated in the present analysis. The effects of the flow parameters on the velocity, temperature, species concentration, local skin friction, local Nusselt number, and Sherwood number are computed, discussed and have been graphically represented in figures and tables for various values of different parameters. The numerical results are carried out for several values of the combined effects of magnetic parameter M, stretching parameter λ, Prandtl number Pr, Eckert number Ec, Schmidt number Sc, Soret number S0, slip parameter A and Casson parameter n on velocity, temperature and concentration profiles and also the skin-friction coefficient ?f?"(0)?local Nusselt number -θ'(0)?and local Sherwood number -ψ'(0)?are discussed and presented in tabular form. The results pertaining to the present study indicate that the velocity profiles decrease as the increase of magnetic field parameter, but reverse trend arises for the effect of Casson parameter and stretching ratio parameter for both Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. The temperature profiles increase forthe effect of magnetic parameter, Prandtl number and Eckert number in case of Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. The concentration profile increases for the effect of Soret number while concentration profile decreases for the increasing values of Schmidt number, magnetic parameter, Prandtl number and Eckert number for both Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. By considering the cooling plate the numerical results for the skin-friction coefficient f?"(0) , local Nusselt number?-θ'(0) and local Sherwood number ?-ψ'(0) are presented in Tables 1-3. 展开更多

Unsteady extracellular fluid (ECF) flow along with a rotating infinite vertical porous plate in the presence of a transverse magnetic field has been studied numerically. The dimensional governing equations have been non-dimensionalized by useful dimensionless variables. The explicit finite difference method has been used to solve dimensionless equations. The numerical results have been calculated by studio developer FORTRAN 6.6a and MATLAB 2018a. For perfect conducting case, Magnetic Diffusivity Parameter 5 ≤ Pm ≤ 15 has been taken in induction equation. For good accuracy, stability and convergence analysis have been analyzed. Mesh Sensitivity test, steady-state solution test, and code validation test have been performed. For time step τ = 1, the numerical results have been found for the primary velocity, secondary velocity, angular velocity, primary induced magnetic field, secondary induced magnetic field, temperature as well as shear stresses along x and z direction, couple stress along z direction, current densities along x and z direction and the Nusselt number. Finally, the effects of various parameters have been separately discussed and illustrated graphically. 展开更多

Unsteady MHD natural convective heat and mass transfer flow through a semi-infinite vertical porous plate in a rotating system have been investigated with the combined Soret and Dufour effects in the presence of Hall current and constant heat flux. It is considered that the porous plate is subjected to constant heat flux. The obtained non-dimensional, non-similar coupled non-linear and partial differential equations have been solved by explicit finite difference technique. Numerical solutions for velocities, temperature and concentration distributions are obtained for various parameters by the above mentioned technique. The local and average shear stresses, Nusselt number as well as Sherwood number are also investigated. The stability conditions and convergence criteria of the explicit finite difference scheme are established for finding the restriction of the values of various parameters to get more accuracy. The obtained results are illustrated with the help of graphs to observe the effects of various legitimate parameters. 展开更多
