As ore grades constantly decline,more copper tailings,which still contain a considerable amount of unrecovered copper,are expected to be produced as a byproduct of froth flotation.This research reveals the occurrence ...As ore grades constantly decline,more copper tailings,which still contain a considerable amount of unrecovered copper,are expected to be produced as a byproduct of froth flotation.This research reveals the occurrence mechanism of copper minerals in typical copper sulfide tailings using quantitative mineral liberation analysis(MLA)integrated with scanning electron microscopy–energy dispersive spectroscopy(SEM–EDS).A comprehensive mineralogical characterization was carried out,and the results showed that almost all copper minerals were highly disseminated within coarse gangue particles,except for 9.2wt%chalcopyrite that occurred in the 160–180μm size fraction.The predominant copper-bearing mineral was chalcopyrite,which was closely intergrown with orthoclase and muscovite rather than quartz.The flotation tailings sample still contained 3.28wt%liberated chalcopyrite and 3.13wt%liberated bornite because of their extremely fine granularity.The SEM–EDS analysis further demonstrated that copper minerals mainly occurred as fine dispersed and fully enclosed structures in gangue minerals.The information obtained from this research could offer useful references for recovering residual copper from flotation tailings.展开更多
Background:In some developing countries,people have little knowledge about the causes of diabetic foot ulcers.Therefore,public health education for patients on these conditions is a prerequisite for effective pharmaco...Background:In some developing countries,people have little knowledge about the causes of diabetic foot ulcers.Therefore,public health education for patients on these conditions is a prerequisite for effective pharmacological treatment.Diabetic foot ulcers are a complex symptom of diabetes and are hard to cure due to the lack of efficacious medicine and alternative treatment approaches.Vitamin A(VA)is known to have potent biological functions,including skin repair and immunoregulation.However,the potential pharmacological effects and molecular mechanisms of VA on foot ulcers are still to be discovered.Methods:By using bioinformatic/computational analyses,including network pharmacology,gene ontology and the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes enrichment analysis,we aimed to identify and reveal the pharmacological targets,molecular mechanisms,biological functions,and signaling pathways of VA in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers.Results:A total of 66 intersection genes were identified as candidate targets of VA,which are related to diabetic foot ulcers.Therein,18 core genes/targets,namely JUN,MAPK1,THRB,MAPK14,MTNR1B,CXCR3,ESR1,AR,HDAC1,IL-10,CNR1,DRD2,EGFR,ADRA2A,CCND1,RXRB,RARA,and RXRA,were further identified.Furthermore,the biological processes,cell components,and molecular functions which may underlie the effects of VA against diabetic foot ulcers were characterized.Conclusion:Based on our findings,we concluded that the pharmacological effects of VA on diabetic foot ulcers primarily involve the promotion of cellular regeneration and proliferation and the inhibition of inflammatory response.The core genes/targets may potentially serve as promising biomarkers for the diagnosis of diabetic foot ulcers.展开更多
Alstonia scholaris(L.)R.Br.,an evergreen tropical plant rich in indole alkaloids with significant physiological activity,is traditionally used to treat respiratory diseases in China.This study was conducted to establi...Alstonia scholaris(L.)R.Br.,an evergreen tropical plant rich in indole alkaloids with significant physiological activity,is traditionally used to treat respiratory diseases in China.This study was conducted to establish the toxicity profile of the alkaloid extract(TA)of A.scholaris leaves in non-rodents.After oral administration of a single dose(4 g/kg.bw),a num-ber of transient symptoms,such as unsteady gait,drooling,emesis,and reddening of peri-oral mucosa,were observed,but no treatment-related mortality.A sub-chronic toxicity study with a range of doses of TA(20,60 and 120 mg/kg.bw)was conducted for a 13-week treatment period,followed by 4-week recovery observation.Except for emesis and drooling in majority of animals in 120 mg/kg.bw treatment group,no clinical changes were observed in TA-treated animals.Data from electrocardiography,bone marrow,urine,fecal,hematology and clinical chemistry analyses were comparable between TA-treated and control animals.No significant differences in the relative organ weights and histopathological characteristics were evident between the TA-treated and control groups.Accordingly,the non-observed-adverse-effect-level(NOAEL)of TA was established as 120 mg/kg.bw.Our results add further knowledge to the safety database for indole alkaloid extracts from A.scholaris with potential utility as novel drug candidates.展开更多
In order to further optimize the cultivation and agronomic technology of Guilin Maojian tea gardens, the effects, efficiencies and costs of different farming methods and their effects on the physiochemical properties ...In order to further optimize the cultivation and agronomic technology of Guilin Maojian tea gardens, the effects, efficiencies and costs of different farming methods and their effects on the physiochemical properties of tea garden soil were studied through the modification of the test sites with the non-farming land as the control. The results showed that human farming, mini-tiller farming and crawler tractor farming could improve the physical and chemical properties of soil. After farming, the soil had good water retention but low moisture content compared to the control group, while the soil bulk density and hardness value were significantly lower than those of the control, and the porosity of soil was significantly higher than that of contrast. With the passage of time, soil bulk density and hardness value gradually increased after farming, while the porosity of soil decreased gradually. There were great differences in the effects, efficiencies and costs of different farming methods. Crawler tractor had the best and most stable farming effect, and the operation efficiency was 10 times that of human farming while the cost was only 0.39 times of human farming. Therefore, it was feasible to adopt mini-tiller or crawler tractor to carry out mechanical farming of Guilin Maojian tea garden, which provided theoretical references for the soil property improvement using mechanical farming and was favorable for promoting the popularization of farming machines and the acceleration of mechanization of tea gardens. But for tea plantations that are intended to be mechanized, apart from the mechanical and technical personnel to be configured in place, the site conditions, planting modes and mechanical way reservation of tea garden should be planned accordingly. It is recommended to select flat or gentle slope for reclamation, and preference is given to non-sexual tea tree varieties with big line spacing over 180 cm long. Moreover, the main road construction should be more than 3.0 m, and trunk road 2.0 m or above. And isolation ditch and drain should be set between the tea garden and the surrounding mountain forests and farmland.展开更多
The application of single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq)in biomedical research has advanced our understanding of the pathogenesis of disease and provided valuable insights into new diagnostic and therapeutic strategie...The application of single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq)in biomedical research has advanced our understanding of the pathogenesis of disease and provided valuable insights into new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.With the expansion of capacity for high-throughput scRNA-seq,including clinical samples,the analysis of these huge volumes of data has become a daunting prospect for researchers entering this field.Here,we review the workflow for typical scRNA-seq data analysis,covering raw data processing and quality control,basic data analysis applicable for almost all scRNA-seq data sets,and advanced data analysis that should be tailored to specific scientific questions.While summarizing the current methods for each analysis step,we also provide an online repository of software and wrapped-up scripts to support the implementation.Recommendations and caveats are pointed out for some specific analysis tasks and approaches.We hope this resource will be helpful to researchers engaging with scRNA-seq,in particular for emerging clinical applications.展开更多
Surfactants were used to assist in the crystallization of lysozyme.Three types of surfactants with different structures(sodium dodecyl sulfate,cetyltrimethylammonium bromide,or betaine hydrochloride[BH])were used.The ...Surfactants were used to assist in the crystallization of lysozyme.Three types of surfactants with different structures(sodium dodecyl sulfate,cetyltrimethylammonium bromide,or betaine hydrochloride[BH])were used.The study indicated that three surfactants were all capable of shortening the crystallization induction time of lysozyme,with BH inducing the shortest crystallization induction time(t=1 min)and the largest crystal size(37μm).The molecular interactions among each of the three surfactants aforementioned and lysozyme were also investigated by simulations.It was found that hydrogen bonding dominantly acted between the carboxyl structure of the surfactant BH and the lysozyme,which produced the most favorable conformation for the self-assembly of lysozyme(promote lysozyme orderly aggregation and shorten the crystallization induction time).On this basis,the mechanism of surfactant-promoted lysozyme crystallization was proposed.展开更多
