In this paper,we consider the NP-hard problem offinding the minimum connected resolving set of graphs.A vertex set B of a connected graph G resolves G if every vertex of G is uniquely identified by its vector of distances to the ver-tices in B.A resolving set B of G is connected if the subgraph B induced by B is a nontrivial connected subgraph of G.The cardinality of the minimal resolving set is the metric dimension of G and the cardinality of minimum connected resolving set is the connected metric dimension of G.The problem is solved heuristically by a binary version of an enhanced Harris Hawk Optimization(BEHHO)algorithm.This is thefirst attempt to determine the connected resolving set heuristically.BEHHO combines classical HHO with opposition-based learning,chaotic local search and is equipped with an S-shaped transfer function to convert the contin-uous variable into a binary one.The hawks of BEHHO are binary encoded and are used to represent which one of the vertices of a graph belongs to the connected resolving set.The feasibility is enforced by repairing hawks such that an addi-tional node selected from V\B is added to B up to obtain the connected resolving set.The proposed BEHHO algorithm is compared to binary Harris Hawk Optimi-zation(BHHO),binary opposition-based learning Harris Hawk Optimization(BOHHO),binary chaotic local search Harris Hawk Optimization(BCHHO)algorithms.Computational results confirm the superiority of the BEHHO for determining connected metric dimension. 展开更多

Impact of Postoperative Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy on Survival for Patients with Node Positive Oral Cancer

Purpose: The aim of the present study is to compare between the use of post-operative concurrent chemotherapy and radiotherapy alone on survival for patients with high risk oral cavity tumors at the National cancer Institute of Egypt, undergoing surgery and receiving adjuvant treatment. Patients and Methods: This is a retrospective study, which was carried out at the National Cancer Institute (Cairo University) on patients with node positive oral cavity cancer diagnosed between the year 2000 and 2008. The study included 60 patients (45 males and 15 females) with median age 57 years old. The patients underwent surgery, followed by postoperative radiotherapy 60 Gy/6 weeks versus postoperative radiotherapy 60 Gy/6 weeks with concurrent cisplatin 100 mg/m2 at day 1, day 22 and day 43. Results: Regarding use of concurrent chemotherapy, there was a significant difference in overall survival rate and locoregional control favoring patients who received concurrent chemotherapy and radiotherapy, 3 years and 5 years overall survival rates respectively were 53.8% and 40.4% compared to 37.5% and 26.3% for patients who didn’t receive any chemotherapy with (p 0.038) for 5 years. Regarding age, there was a significant difference in overall survival rate favoring patients ≤57 years in both arm groups, 3 years and 5 years overall survival rates respectively were 51.6% and 38.9% compared to 28.3% and 18.9% for patients >57 years with (p 0.028) for 5 years. Conclusion: We recommend for oral cavity tumor patients at the NCI of Egypt who have positive neck nodes to be treated with concurrent chemo-radiotherapy rather than radiotherapy alone especially by using the new techniques as intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and image guided radiotherapy (IGRT). 展开更多

Brand versus Generic Rosuvastatin in Egyptian Patients with Hyperlipidemia;Cost-Minimization Analysis

Background: Serum level of cholesterol is one of the most vital risk factors for cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Statins are highly effective drugs for reducing serum cholesterol;hence, preventing coronary heart disease (CHD). Rosuvastatin (Crestor) is one of the most potent and widely prescribed statins. Even though generic statins have been approved based on their bioequivalence with brand-name drugs, there remains considerable concern as regards their effectiveness and safety. Most clinicians and patients welcome the generic drug decreased costs;however, it is indispensable for them that effectiveness and safety are not compromised. Thus, the rationale intended for this study is to compare brand rosuvastatin and generic rosuvastatin as regard their economic impact using a cost-minimization analysis. Methods: This cost-minimization model estimates potential impact of rosuvastatin brand versus generic on the healthcare resource utilization for one-year frame from the payer perspective. The model conforms to real practice of management of hyperlipidemia in Egypt and was validated by experts. Results: The drug costs in the rosuvastatin brand group were 3,155,250 EGP while in the generic group were 2,299,030 EGP. The costs of CVD events in the rosuvastatin brand group were 5,863,558 EGP, while in the generic group were 6,810,180 EGP. The total costs in the rosuvastatin brand group were 9,018,808 EGP, while in the generic group were 9,109,210 EGP with a difference of &minus;100,047 EGP. Conclusions: In conclusion, the real cost of generic treatment is more than that of the brand statin when taking into consideration the cardiovascular events. 展开更多

A new systematic firefly algorithm for forecasting the durability of reinforced recycled aggregate concrete

This study presents a new systematic algorithm to optimize the durability of reinforced recycled aggregate concrete.The proposed algorithm integrates machine learning with a new version of the firefly algorithm called chaotic based firefly algorithm(CFA)to evolve a rational and efficient predictive model.The CFA optimizer is augmented with chaotic maps and Levy flight to improve the firefly performance in forecasting the chloride penetrability of strengthened recycled aggregate concrete(RAC).A comprehensive and credible database of distinctive chloride migration coefficient results is used to establish the developed algorithm.A dataset composite of nine effective parameters,including concrete components and fundamental characteristics of recycled aggregate(RA),is used as input to predict the migration coefficient of strengthened RAC as output,k-fold cross validation algorithm is utilized to validate the hybrid algorithm.Three numerical benchmark analyses are applied to prove the superiority and applicability of the CFA algorithm in predicting chloride penetrability.Results show that the developed CFA approach significantly outperforms the firefly algorithm on almost tested functions and demonstrates powerful prediction.In addition,the proposed strategy can be an active tool to recognize the contradictions in the experimental results and can be especially beneficial for assessing the chloride resistance of RAC. 展开更多
