By using nonuniform(geometric)grid network,a new high-order finite-difference compact scheme has been obtained for the numerical solution of three-space dimensions partial differential equations of elliptic type.Single cell discretization to the elliptic equation makes it easier to compute and exhibit stability of the numerical solutions. The monotone and irreducible property of the Jacobian matrix to the system of difference equations analyses the converging behavior of the numerical solution values. As an experiment, applications of the compact scheme to Schr¨odinger equations,sine-Gordon equations, elliptic Allen–Cahn equation and Poisson’s equation have been presented with root mean squared errors of exact and approximate solution values. The results corroborate the reliability and efficiency of the scheme. 展开更多

We demonstrate a new nonuniform mesh finite difference method to obtain accurate solutions for the elliptic partial differential equations in two dimensions with nonlinear first-order partial derivative terms. The method will be based on a geometric grid network area and included among the most stable differencing scheme in which the nine-point spatial finite differences are implemented, thus arriving at a compact formulation. In general,a third order of accuracy has been achieved and a fourth-order truncation error in the solution values will follow as a particular case. The efficiency of using geometric mesh ratio parameter has been shown with the help of illustrations. The convergence of the scheme has been established using the matrix analysis, and irreducibility is proved with the help of strongly connected characteristics of the iteration matrix. The difference scheme has been applied to test convection diffusion equation, steady state Burger’s equation, ocean model and a semi-linear elliptic equation. The computational results confirm the theoretical order and accuracy of the method. 展开更多

We develop a new sixth-order accurate numerical scheme for the solution of two point boundary value problems. The scheme uses nonpolynomial spline basis and high order finite difference approximations. With the help of spline functions,we derive consistency conditions and it is used to derive high order discretizations of the first derivative. The resulting difference schemes are solved by the standard Newton’s method and have very small computing time. The new method is analyzed for its convergence and the efficiency of the proposed scheme is illustrated by convection-diffusion problem and nonlinear Lotka–Volterra equation. The order of convergence and maximum absolute errors are computed to present the utility of the new scheme. 展开更多
